    MUMBAI: ZEE Entertainment Enterprise Limited’s No. 1 Bhojpuri Channel, Big Ganga adds yet another feather in its cap by foraying into the Bhojpuri fiction genre. The channel is all set to provide the region with its own original prime time with the launch of two diverse genre offerings. The launch is a part of channel’s strategy to penetrate deeper in the target markets while catering to the diversified audience across all age groups. In its quest to deliver premium content for the region the channel has brought on board the leading GEC producers, Paritosh Painter of Ideas The Entertainment Company and Meenakshi Sagar of Sagar Pictures. With already runaway successful shows under their belt these producers are all but geared up to now enthral Bihar & Jharkhand audience also with rich original Bhojpuri content.

    Ideas Entertainment will produce a romcom titled ‘Bagal Wali Jaan Maareli’. Given the regions high inclination towards humour, the show will be a fun filled ride of two neighbouring gentlemen who believe in love-thy-neighbours-wife philosophy. The show takes place in a fictional colony located in Arra, Bihar and has motley of quirky characters to add variety of spice to the show and keep the audience rolling on the floor with their idiosyncratic antics.

    Sagar Productions will be producing the show ‘Divya Shakti’, a socio-mythological fiction showcasing stories of power of faith and bhakti. Catering to the deep socio-cultural fabric of the region the show will bring to life miracle stories of human endurance and Gods benevolence. It will be adopt a unique format where compelling human stories of faith & conviction will be presented by Gods themselves as a narrator. These tales will be a topical collection of vrat kathayein, regional Bhakt figures with high devotional following as well as spiritual figures from the region.

    MUMBAI: In the Bengali market, Zee Bangla, Star Jalsha continued to be in first and second positions in BARC data week 1 for 2019. Oscar Movies Bhojpuri emerged as the new player in the market by securing fifth position in the Bhojpuri space. Zee Kannada and Colors Kannada swapped their first and second positions in the Kannada cluster. No changes were observed in Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu segment.

    Bengali, Bhojpuri, Kannada, Marathi and Telugu cluster in BARC data week 52. In the Malayalam space, Mazhavil Manorama and Flowers TV swapped their second and third positions. Moreover, Zee Tamil and Sun TV interchanged their second and third positions in the Tamil market.

    Bangla

    Zee Bangla, Star Jalsha continued to be on first and second positions respectively with 372317 impressions '000s and 307306 impressions '000s. Colors Bangla, Aakash Aath and Jalsha Movies stood at third, fourth and fifth positions respectively with 59207 impressions '000s, 56460 impressions '000s and 54150 impressions '000s.  

    Bhojpuri

    Big Ganga, Bhojpuri Cinema, Bhojpuri Dhamaka Dishum and Housefull Action retained their first, second, third and fourth positions respectively with 50622 impressions '000s, 47093 impressions '000s, 12793 impressions '000s and 8844 impressions '000s. Oscar Movies Bhojpuri emerged as the new player in the market by securing fifth position with 2136 impressions '000s.  

    Kannada

    Zee Kannada and Colors Kannada swapped their first and second positions respectively with 415697 impressions '000s and 391735impressions '000s. Udaya TV, Udaya Movies and Star Suvarna continued to be in third, fourth and fifth positions respectively with 236910 impressions '000s, 168349 impressions '000s and 136671 impressions '000s.

    Malayalam

    No changes were observed in the Malayalam segment.     MUMBAI: Riding on the success of multiple initiatives, ZEE Entertainment Enterprise Limited’s No. 1 Bhojpuri Channel, Big Ganga introduces a much-needed social initiative – ‘Ek Kadam Swabhiman Ki Aor’ on the occasion of one of the most popular festivals of the region, Chhath Puja. Under the initiative, Big Ganga has installed changing room across Patna Ghat for the women for the duration of the festivities in the region.

    During Chhath Puja women perform ‘Aarag’ in a pond or a river and change their apparels post the ritual.     ZEEL to revamp Big Magic, Big Ganga

    MUMBAI: Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) still seems to be in a celebratory mood after its recent 25th year anniversary. After rebranding its entire Zee’s bouquet, the network is soon to revamp the Reliance Broadcast Network Limited’s (RBNL) television business that it acquired in November 2016.

    The channel is planning to rebrand Big Magic to Zee Magic and Big Ganga to Zee Ganga, a source close to the development confirmed the news to Indiantelevision.com. The revamp is slated to happen early next month.

    The television broadcasting business of the Reliance group entities currently comprises two operational general entertainment channels (Big Magic and Big Ganga) and four other TV licenses.

    Big Magic, which was earlier a comedy channel, positioned itself as a variety general entertainment channel (GEC). Taking its multi-genre league forward, the network added four new shows to it line up.

    The channel launched four shows that include, Shaktipeeth Ke Bhairav, which will depict the mythical story of 52 shaktipeeths from the perspective of one of the most powerful and raging forms of Lord Shiva – Bhairav, Kunwara Hai Par Humara Hai, Tera Baap Mera Baap, and Deewane Anjane.

    Big Ganga is the second GEC by RBNL and caters to Bihar and Jharkhand.

    MUMBAI: Dishum Broadcasting has appointed Partha Dey as the chief operating officer (COO), reporting to the board of directors. His new portfolio would include overseeing and managing broadcasting operations including programming, OAP, consumer research and branded content. 

    Dishum broadcasting director Vishal Gurnani said, “Partha’s knowledge and vast experience in launching successful Bhojpuri media brands is unparalleled in the industry, and we look forward to Partha helping us achieve our vision of bringing in a new era of content and entertainment experiences to Bhojpuri audiences across the world.”

    Prior to the role, Dey had two years stint as an SVP with Reliance Broadcasting Network Limited (RBNL’s) Bhojpuri GEC- Big Ganga.

    A documentary filmmaker by profession, Dey has over 20 years of experience in broadcasting media as a producer, director and creative director. He has helped launch successful Bhojpuri brands including Mahuaa, Dangal, Bhojpuri Cinema, and Big Ganga. He has also produced and directed several documentaries, features and programming software for various companies such as the Indian Air force, ARC RAW, OHM- Holland and Doordarshan
