    Sun TV brands FM radio stations as ‘S FM’; launches 3 more stations

    MUMBAI: The southern media emperor Kalanithi Maran has finally made its official entry into the private radio FM operations under the second phase by unveiling the brand name and the frequency. 

    The FM radio operations managed through its subsidiaries Kal Radio Ltd and South Asia FM Ltd will run stations under the brand name ‘S FM’.

    Starting 6 November, the company will launch three more FM stations on 93.5 MHz FM in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Jaipur. 

    Sun will be the fifth player in Bangalore and competing for mindspace with players like Radio City, Radio Mirchi, Radio One and Big 92.7 FM. 

    In Hyderabad too, Sun will be battling out with the existing players — Radio Mirchi, Radio City and Big 92.7FM. While, in Jaipur, Sun will be sharing the space with Radio City, Radio Mirchi, Radio Tadka and MY FM.

    With this, the total FM Stations of Sun TV group operational goes to seven as it already operates FM stations in Chennai, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli and Visakhapatnam. 

    Works of another 38 FM Stations are in progress as it has retained 45 FM Radio stations across India out of 68 FM stations successfully bid.

    Maran will operate 46 stations across the country through Sun TV Ltd’s two subsidiaries, Kal Radio and South Asia FM. Sun TV owns 89 per cent in Kal Radio and 94.91 per cent in South Asia FM. Maran holds 10.5 per cent in Kal Radio and 5.1 per cent in South Asia FM.

    The activity commences on 18 October, wherein the best comic artists in town will get together to give you a never-before-heard laughter experience all day long, according to an official statement. 

    Listeners can participate and win exciting gifts on the show by sending in their funniest Diwali stories and Diwali. The renowned comedians joining us on the airwaves would be Nazhar Khan,Ashish Roy Basu , Sunil Grover along with our own celebrity RJ Sunil Pal .

    19 October would be a day of predictions and prophecies with All Day Luck astrologers and tarot readers talking about various zodiac signs, birthday dates, and tips on numerology. The prominent astrologers making predictions on Big would be Suniel Naik, Atal Bhambhi and Sunita Menon.

    The third day brings in the nine hour All Day Loot contest, based on the theme of Filmy Patakhas like Neha Dhupia, Koena Mitra, Diya Mirza, Sameera Reddy and Bipasha Basu, wherein listerners will get to hear patakha Songs, patakha celeb bytes and patakha trivia. Nine lucky winners from the contest will be taken to a mall to grab whatever they can in 92.7 seconds. And if this is not enough, some of the winners can also bag a voucher worth Rs 9270 to shop.     Times Now’s Sudha Sadhanand joins Big 92.7 FM Delhi as programming head

    MUMBAI: The Big 92.7 FM has roped in Times Now’s Sudha Sadhanand as its programming head for its Delhi station. 

    Sadhanand who joined the station on 12 October will be reporting in to the Big 92.7 FM national programming head Manav Dhanda.

    The bi-lingual news & current affairs anchor and producer started her career as a non-fiction book editor with the publishing house Penguin and later went to join TVI (1994) – a bi-lingual television news channel from the Business India group.

    Sadhanand later did programmes for DD Metro with production house APCA (1997), managed by ex-editors of the Times of India Dileep Padgaonkar and Badshah Sen.

    She was associated with Star Plus’ Aaj Ki Baat and India TV, where she was a prime time hostess for breakfast show, election shows and weekend specials.

    Big 92.7 FM signs up Mohinder Amarnath for ICC updates

    MUMBAI: The cricket bee has stung the newly launched private FM player Big 92.7 FM! The brand has signed up with ‘Jimmy’ Mohinder Amarnath, the 1983 World Cup match winner, to provide updates on the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy.

    The ICC World Cup Champions Trophy kicked off 7 October and will continue till 5 November. Spout chewing gum has been roped in to sponsor the updates on Big 92.7FM.

    According to an official statement, Amaranth will be offering regular cricket updates on Big 92.7 FM four to five times a day to provide a ringside update on the matches and players performance and even a few interesting tid-bits on the player’s and team’s performance. 

    The show will be broadcast in Hindi on New Delhi station and in English on Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore stations. The brand is likely to launch in Mumbai, Kolkata and Bangalore in the coming weeks.

    Speaking on the occasion, Big 92.7 FM COO Tarun Katial said, “It is our endeavour to create an edge and provide our listeners with exclusive entertainment. Cricket is a sport which unites the nation and it is our way of offering Big entertainment on Big 92.7FM.     BANGALORE: Adlabs Films (AF) will launch its Big 92.7 FM in Bangalore on 9 October. The city is the fourth station of the company’s proposed 45 (54 co-branded) FM radio stations; the other three being Chennai, Hyderabad and Delhi. Soon to follow are Kolkata and Mumbai.

    Big FM has earmarked about Rs 400 million towards its national promotional campaign. The company plans to kick off the Bangalore marketing and promotional initiatives with a city-wide campaign to get citizens to come together and work towards “Making Bangalore A Safer Place”. The campaign will be driven by brand ambassador Upendra.

    To create awareness among Bangaloreans, the station is exploring the outdoor space also in a big way. According to Big associate VP & station head Farida K. Print, about 40-45 locations have been covered with outdoor hoardings as per the strategy. Another novel initiative would be 92.7 FM only receivers in auto rickshaws. The plans also include various ground events and television commercials.

    Adlabs Films has roped in Kannada film actor Upendra as brand ambassador for Karnataka. The radio station has hired personalities from the Kannada film & television industries as RJ’s. According to Katial, the content would be mainly local with some Hindi and no English at all, which is generally different from the trends set by the other FM stations in Bangalore.

    Unveiling the brand, Big 92.7 FM COO Tarun Katial said, “With this launch, we aim to present innovative radio programming. Not only have we developed fresh and unique content but have also roped in personalities who will connect with the listeners and provide the glamour quotient. Our detailed research on the city’s psychographics will ensure that the station sounds refreshing and unique with a major focus on utilities and entertainment.”

    Rs 4 billion has been invested on transmission equipments, infrastructure and licensing, as per an official release. The IP protocol technology being utilised for Big 92.7 FM is from Axia, USA.

    MUMBAI: BIG 92.7 FM is currently airing an innovative on-air talent contest for Mumbai’s mimicry enthusiasts called “Nakli No. 1.” This first ever FM mimicry hunt, aims at those passionate about impersonating their favorite celebrities. The contest will offer them the opportunity to display their talent to the public and the best of all mimics stands to win a year long contract with BIG FM as an RJ.
