    MUMBAI: Menaka Menon joins Draftfcb Ulka as head strategic planning at its Bengaluru office. She has over 13 years experience in advertising and media. Her professional interests include new media, understanding youth consumer and their buying behaviour.

    An alumnus of MICA, Menaka started her career at the then FCB Ulka, as part of its Star One programme. She then moved to JWT where she spent over seven years, before moving on to assignments with Big 92.7 FM, UTV New Media and MTV.

    Mumbai: BIG 92.7 FM, the radio initiative from Adlabs Films Pvt. Ltd launched its station in Chandigarh. This would make it ths12 station of the network.

    Commenting on the station’s entry into Chandigarh, Big 92.7 FM COO Tarun Katial said, “We are very excited about launching in the city of Chandigarh and we want the tunes of BIG 92.7 FM to echo across the length and the breadth of the country.     MUMBAI: Adlabs radio station Big 92.7 FM visited the children of the Tata Memorial Hospital a few days ahead of World Cancer Day which is commemorated on 4 February.

    The station organized a party for the kids and even roped in actor Shiney Ahuja and Rang De Basanti director Rakesh Mehra to interact with the kids. Big RJ’s Anirudh and Baburao organised games for the kids like Antakshari.

    While Nakli No. 1 – RJ Nitin added fun and laughter to the event with mimic acts, informs an official release.

    Apart from the kids, the Hospital staff and parents was also seen participating along with the kids.

    MUMBAI: Big 92.7 FM has launched a unique on-air contest Kiske Naam Inaam in Delhi and Mumbai. The contest enables listeners to win diamonds every hour by sending their names to Big FM.

    This is part of the programming strategy by the FM station to beef up its breakfast band 7 to 10 in Mumbai and 7 to 11 in Delhi. One registered name will be selected every hour and on answering questions will receive a diamond voucher from Orra, the sponsors of this contest.

    The show also has an in studio numerologist to explain the inner implications of the name and explain the fortune that a name can bring. Everyday three lucky winners can win diamonds in Delhi and 2 lucky winners in Mumbai.

    MUMBAI: Big 92.7 FM announced the Nakli No.1 winner of its Mumbai leg at Atria Mall, Worli.

    The FM mimicry hunt involved contestants impersonating their favorite celebrities. The contest offered mimics the opportunity to display their talent to the public. The winner would win a yearlong contract with Big 92.7 FM as an RJ.

    Big 92.7 FM RJs Rohit and RJ Baburao were the hosts of the evening and the judges panel consisted of celebrity couple Delnaz Paul & Rajiv Paul of Nach Baliye fame and, voice over artist Siddharth Kannan.

    After auditions and short-listing of candidates, the 3 finalists put their best mimic foot forward in front of the judges & the audience. Nitin Zagade was crowned the Big STAR with a yearlong contract on the station.

    MUMBAI: BIG 92.7 FM in association with Big Screen Entertainment, are inviting entries for Big Break – the national reality Radio hunt – for the main lead actor of a Bollywood film.

    The hunt conducted through BIG 92.7 FM has Raj Kumar Santoshi, Vishal Bharadwaj, Anurag Basu and Ajay Devgan as the judges. BIG 92.7 FM is the exclusive on-air media partner for the search of the new Bollywood lover boy of 2007, asserts an official release.

    The winner of the Radio hunt called Who will be Shekhar? will not be revealed and will only be a voice to the nation until the launch of the film.

    The cities where the contest will run are Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Srinagar, Jammu and Aligarh. Screening of the candidates, interviews with the jury, and announcement of the winner will be conducted exclusively on BIG 92.7 FM.

    Prospective participants can post their applications along with their portfolio pictures by logging on to www.big927fm.com on or before 31 December 2006.

    This film will mark the debut for Amita Mangat, daughter of Kumar Mangat, of Omkara fame with Ajay and Kajol Devgan personally monitoring the script and doing the rounds for the location etc, adds the release.

    MUMBAI: Big 92.7 FM is all set to launch in Jammu on 18 December. It claims to be the first private FM Radio station to be heard in Jammu.

    The launch in the city is part of the company’s endeavor to make itself available in earlier untapped cities of India, thus making them a part of the nation-wide Big FM Radio revolution, asserts an official release.

    The programs on Big 92.7 FM are based on extensive research and in-depth analysis of the preferences of the people of Jammu. The shows on the Radio station will not only offer local flavor and city-connect through relevant content and interesting information and updates, but will also play music which appeals to the local tastes, adds the release.

    Additionally, the Radio Jockeys on Big 92.7 FM will have a strong appeal and recall among listeners and trigger high aspiration amongst them.

    MUMBAI: Finally, Big 92.7 FM is making its official debut in Mumbai on 14 November.

    With the launch of Big 92.7 FM Mumbai station, Adlabs Radio completes its first phase of launching stations across six metros; in the order of Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore and Kolkata.

    The second phase would involve pitching into the virgin territories like Srinagar, Jammu and Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh) and other mini-metros.
    Meanwhile, the radio company has also entered into a partnership with Century Communications. Interestingly, the yet to launch radio stations from the stable of Century Communications will broadcast on 92.7 FM, the same frequency as the Big FM.

    When queried about forming any further alliance with other small players Big 92.7 FM COO Tarun Katial refused to divulge anything at the moment, but admitted that they are in talks and soon shall be locking in deals.

    Under the agreement with Century Communications, the partnership has been chalked out for content syndication and ad sales. This gives them the leverage of a network of 45 stations (owned by Adlabs Radio) and 9 stations (Century Communications).

    To ensure high aspiration and connect with the listeners, Big 92.7 FM has roped in television stars as their radio jocks including Shwetha Tiwari (Prerna of Kasautii Zindagi Ki), Pallavi Joshi (host of Antakshari), Vrajesh Hirjee and Abhijit Sawant (Indian Idol fame).

    Positioning it as the young adult contemporary station, the programming mix the station intends to offer from 5 am Seher, which will continue till 7 am. Hosted by Shweta Tiwari, the show is all about bhajans, sufi and other alternative soothing and instruments sounds. The breakfast show The Big Chai will be hosted by Vrajesh Hirjee and Pallavi Joshi, wherein the show will offer amusing circumstances and some bizarre stories with listeners voting in a solution for each situation. The station also has created Baburao who is the utility man providing updeats on the latest happenings of the city on The Big Chai.

    The station has created a show Anirudh LLB (Love Ladkiyan Bollywood), which is more to do with espousal arousal created for the housewives and girlfriends, besides providing insights on the Bollywood side of life. In a unique manner, the station has created Murder at 9 pm, which is a thriller series about an unconventional police officer, who is passionate about solving crimes in the city. The Indian Idol fame Abhijit Sawant will play all the big numbers of the week on weekends through The Big 30 Countdown.

    To Katial, “It is our aim to create content that is relevant, credible and has an aspirational value to the listeners.”

    To create a buzz on Big 92.7 FM especially where there are so many brands competing for the same share of mind and ears, it is essentials for the brands have to touch lives, build bonds and thereby build equity. “Our strategy is to give visibility to the brand and get a sample feedback during our launch period,” says Big 92.7 FM interactivity activation and PR head Vidyuth Bhandari.

    Speaking in short on the series of on-ground activation, Bhandari says that the radio channel will run a CSR campaign which is fight against terrorism on the launch day. It will also create a big buzz in the inroads of Mumbai through Big Barrat activity is a gesture to welcome the brand.

    The station will generate a noise at all possible malls. The company is said to have tied up with manufactures for co-branded radio sets. They have also tied-up with around 250 odd chai stalls (Tea stalls), wherein they will be provided with radio stets and play Big FM.

    The brand will unleash its 360 degree campaign on the launch date, reinforcing its positioning as adult contemporary station. With an investment of Rs 4 billion dedicated to transmission equipment, infrastructure and licensing, the proposed network for Big 92.7 FM is set to make a ‘big’ splash in the expanding radio industry in India. The marketing budget has been pegged at Rs 450 million of which around Rs 50 million has bee marked for Mumbai.
