    BharatPe plans to scale up to 65 cities by December 2020

    NEW DELHI: Merchant payment app BharatPe has announced aggressive expansion plans across tier-1, 2 and 3 cities in India, under which it aims to scale up its presence in 65 locations across the country. The company is currently present in 35+ cities, and has set its sights on adding another 30 cities to its list by December 2020. 

    The cities include tier-1 cities like Kolkata and Chennai, emerging cities like Coimbatore, Kochi, Dehradun, Nagpur, Bhubaneswar, Patna as well as tourist hubs like Amritsar, Varanasi, Agra, Allahabad, amongst others. The company aims to add another three million merchants to its existing list of over 5 million merchants by the end of FY21. 

    The announcement is in line with the company’s commitment to become the preferred financial services partner for over 60 million SMEs in India. BharatPe will be rolling out its one-of-a-kind interoperable UPI QR with zero transaction fees, and it’s recently launched zero rental, zero fees card acceptance machine (BharatSwipe) in the new cities. Additionally, the app would be extending attractive collateral-free loans of upto Rs 7 lakh at competitive interest rates to merchants, with the objective of helping them grow their business. BharatPe will offer its hybrid repayment model with a combination of daily QR/POS collection and weekly payments made directly from the bank account to the merchants availing loans. 

    BharatPe group president Suhail Sameer said, “The pandemic has fuelled exponential growth of the digital payments industry in the country as a large number of customers are opting for cashless payments. We have seen our business grow manifold over the last few months. Our payments vertical has recorded consistent double digit growth on a month-on-month basis. Also, our lending vertical has scaled very well and we are on track to disburse loans of Rs 1000 crores by the end of the year.” 

    Added Sameer “We are committed to create a well-rounded financial ecosystem for SMEs with our variety of products including payments, loans, gold and insurance. This decision to double our footprint in the country is in line with this. We have handpicked cities that are either business hubs or emerging commercial centres, for this phase of expansion. We look forward to enabling millions of more businesses in the new cities we are venturing in.” 

    BharatPe will be rolling out its range of financial services for merchants, across all the new cities. These include Amritsar, Kota, Guntur, Kakinada, Rajmundri, Jodhpur, Coimbatore, Madurai, Nagpur, Kochi, Trichy, Raipur, Trivandrum, Bilaspur, Durg Bhilai, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Kolkata, Patna, Ranchi, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Jamshedpur, Chennai, Agra, Allahabad, Aurangabad, Dehradun, Patiala, Rohtak, Silchar, Agartala, Shillong and Varanasi.

    Ortel offers special value added Wi-Fi public hotspot service

    MUMBAI: Ortel Communications has introduced Wi-Fi public hotspot services for its broadband subscribers as a special value added service. The service is being offered in the busiest locations of the state of Bhubaneswar.

     

    Customers can access the Hot Spot services by using their existing internet account. They can use the broadband services in the public Hot Spot Wi-Fi location and can also access the primary wired broadband connection at home.

     

    Without the requirement of any other additional hardware like modem or a dongle neither a software installation, the subscribers can use the service through their smartphones, tablet PCs and laptops.

     

    Ortel is the first MSO and ISP to offer an additional wireless broadband service at public places in Bhubaneswar for its wired broadband subscribers without any additional charges. These services will be extended to other markets very soon.

     

    Ortel Communications president and CEO Bibhu Prasad Rath said, “We are happy to launch wireless broadband access at public areas through Wi-Fi Hotspots for our existing and new broadband subscribers. This will allow our wired broadband subscribers to access internet using their existing Ortel Broadband connection outside their homes at places where most of them visit very frequently.     TRAI won’t withdraw call drops penalty, to carry another audit in Dec

    NEW DELHI: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has reiterated that the newly-introduced penalty for call drops slated to come into effect from January will not be withdrawn.

     

    In a meeting with the chief executive officers of Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) to apprise them about the findings of the drive tests conducted recently in Delhi and Mumbai, TRAI said an audit of networks in Mumbai and Delhi had shown showed unsatisfactory network quality.

     

    TRAI, which had carried out special independent drive tests for Cellular Mobile Telephone Services in the Mumbai and Delhi in June and July and then in September this year, will carry out fresh audits in December to review the situation. There were no significant improvement in the performance of the TSPs.

     

    The findings of these tests along with a consolidated analysis of the reports were uploaded on TRAI website.

     

    The service providers had stated in their meeting with TRAI that they had taken and continue to take a number of steps to improve the quality of network in these areas and that the quality of service had improved.

     

    In the meeting, the findings of the test drive were discussed and the service providers were requested to take action for further improvement of the network conditions.

     

    TRAI officials agreed to share with service providers and other stakeholders the independent drive tests carried In other major cities – Surat, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar and Ahmedabad.

     

    The service providers had stated that there are a number of other issues affecting quality of service of the network resulting in call drops. The Authority assured it would extend whatever help possible to the telecom service providers.

    Star Sports launches marketing campaign to build Hero Hockey India League

    MUMBAI: Star Sports, India’s leading sports broadcaster, has launched a unique marketing campaign to build the second edition of Hero Hockey India League (HHIL) which starts later this month on January 25, 2014. Star Sports has shot the marketing campaign across all six team states which are participating in the league. The campaign shows star players of all the teams showcasing their hockey skills at the most iconic locations of the regions. Leveraging the presence of elite national and international hockey players, the broadcaster has positioned the league as ‘The new face of Hockey’.

     

    The second edition of HHIL will see world’s best hockey players playing in diverse cities across the country. This year 72 Olympians from 11 countries will participate in the league which will be played in 6 cities including New Delhi, Lucknow, Mohali, Bhubaneswar, Mumbai and Ranchi. A total of 34 matches will be played across 29 match days on home and away basis.

     

    Speaking on the occasion, Gayatri Yadav, Executive Vice President Marketing & Communications, STAR India, said, “HHIL in just its second edition has emerged as a truly global league and has attracted the world’s best Hockey talent to its fold. The visuals show star players of each team presenting the ‘The new face of Hockey’ at the landmark locations in their regions whether it is the by lanes of Varanasi for Uttar Pradesh Wizards team or Jantar Mantar for Delhi Waveriders team. The idea is to build team affinity as well as local pride for each and every participating team.”

The films are a cheer for the great hockey action that this league has started bringing to India.”

     

    Overall, the campaign will have 7 different films – 1 for each team and an overall thematic one. The campaign has been shot at the most iconic locations in each of the participating franchise cities/ regions. The campaign for Delhi Waveriders team was shot at the Jantar Mantar while players from the Uttar Pradesh Wizards teams were filmed playing Hockey in the lanes of Varanasi. The Kalinga Lancers campaign was shot at the Puri beach. Star players of Dabur Mumbai Magicians were shot playing Hockey in a Mumbai local train while Ranchi Rhinos ad-campaign was shot with star players playing at the Dassam Falls.  The star players of Jaypee Punjab Warriors team were filmed in Amritsar with the Golden Temple as the back drop.

     

    The high decibel campaign will be played across key channels of Star network.

    BENGALURU: Canon India Office Imaging Solutions division (OIS) announced plans for deeper penetration in C, D and E towns and expansion of service location from 546 to 700+ locations currently to support developments in smaller cities.

     

    The division is aggressively tapping the SME market specially the manufacturing units in C, D and E class where the print volume is around one-two lakh a month. Canon is working with its channel partners in these cities who will be focusing on SMEs and PSU segments. Canon plans to enable the SME community by introducing cost effective workflow solutions and Managed Document Services offering.

     

    With this SMEs will get access to enterprise class technology which will help them streamline their printing infrastructure, save cost and be eco-friendly. The division is also targeting cities like Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Cochin, Patna and Bhubaneswar. The division is targeting revenues of Rs 25 crore from its Managed Document Services during the next fiscal.

     

    Canon’s OIS division uses select print publications that make their way to a CIO’s table and online digital for focused mass media communications. To that extent, it spends around Rs 1 to 2 crore per quarter revealed a company source. Dentsu and Percept manage creative and media buying duties for Canon India.

    MUMBAI: Inox Leisure Ltd has entered the state of Odisha with the launch of its first multiplex in the temple city of India – Bhubaneswar.

    Located at BMC Bhawani Mall, Saheed Nagar, Inox is now open to guests with three screens and 960 seats. All screens are equipped with 2K digital projection systems for enhanced movie viewing experience.

    The movies showcased at Inox Bhubaneswar in the opening week are Salman Khan starrer Dabangg 2 (Hindi), Table No 21 (Hindi), Rajdhani Express (Hindi), CZ 12 (English), The Impossible (English) and Life Of Pi (English).
