    MUMBAI: Around 2 crore UC users celebrated Diwali and 11.11 UC Shopping Fest with UCWeb over the past 3 weeks. This year, the UC Shopping Fest in India, as a part of Alibaba’s 11.11 Global Festival, offered Diwali surprises with Paytm. In the 20-day campaign, lucky users have won gifts and Paytm coupons worth 1.2 crores in total.

    Diwali is the peak shopping season for Indians throughout the year with as much as 45% of the annual sales of some consumer goods are made during Diwali. To help its vast user base shop better this Diwali, UC set up a new channel “Shopping”, where users learned to make smart shopping choices. UC also invited its 130 million users to participate in the in-app card collecting game. Sponsored by Paytm, lucky users got their Diwali shopping wish lists come true and shared the Paytm coupons worth 1 crore in the elated festival.

    Putting spotlight on the little laughter-whizzes of our country, this fresh take on comedy, laden with innocence, will lighten up the primetime viewing of the audiences over the weekend. Guiding these little wonders while they brighten your mood with their guileless humor will be comedy connoisseurs and judges, Neha Dhupia and Sohail Khan and anchored by Bharti Singh.

    Produced by Endemol Shine India, Chhote Miyan Dhaakad will witness the young brigade team up to generate fresh waves of laughter starting 25 March, every Saturday and Sunday at 6pm and 10pm on Colors.

This time we decided to let the children take the centerstage and show their alacrity in the art of comedy. Divided into three groups of four each, these young powerhouses will not only showcase group performances but also solo acts that will prove their mettle on the laughter stage. Joining the budding group of talent will be their partner-in-crime and host Bharti Singh, who will encourage the contestants to push the envelope with their performances.

    The most daunting job, though, will be that of comic buffs Neha Dhupia and Sohail Khan who will be tasked with the role of the Principals of the comedy arena as they judge the tiny tots’ attempts to set the laughter ball rolling across the country.

    MUMBAI: UDigital’s digital media brand, Arré has been in the news for its bold content after announcing its first digital reality series based on social experiment Ho Ja Re- Gender. The ten months old brand is all set to take entertainment level a notch higher with its two more series Official Chukyagiri and Abbas-Mastan.

    Co-founded by Ronnie Screwvala, B. Saikumar and Ajay Chacko in October 2015, the platform saw the exit of Screwvala in April 2016. The other two founders viz. B. Saikumar, Ajay Chacko along with Enam group acquired the residual stake held by Unilazer Ventures and Screwvala.

    Ho Ja Re-Gender has 20 episodes with the first episode to go on- air from July 23. It is the series is India’s first digital reality series based on a social experiment where six young people find out what it’s like to be the opposite sex. Three men and women will undergo the experience of a lifetime by transforming themselves into the opposite gender. Complete with prosthetics, makeup and clothes, they will role play the other gender through various everyday tasks and special missions inside and outside the house they live in.

    The series is about understanding what it truly means to be male or female in our times and what better way to understand it than becoming the opposite sex?

    Re-Gender, based on a licensed international format from Armoza Formats, comes to India after a successful run in Iran and Germany and will be hosted in India by popular television celebrity Ranvijay Singha and his wife. It also features Rithvik Dhanjani, Karan Wahi, Raghu Ram and Bharti Singh.

    Another series Official Chukyagiri is a slice-of-life fiction web series that is an emotionally charged yet humorous take on life in corporate India viewed through the eyes of an intern.

    Co-founded by Ronnie Screwvala, B. Saikumar and Ajay Chacko in October 2015, the platform saw the exit of Screwvala in April 2016. The other two founders viz. B. Saikumar, Ajay Chacko along with Enam group acquired the residual stake held by Unilazer Ventures and Screwvala.

    Ho Ja Re-Gender has 20 episodes with the first episode to go on- air from July 23. It is the series is India’s first digital reality series based on a social experiment where six young people find out what it’s like to be the opposite sex. Three men and women will undergo the experience of a lifetime by transforming themselves into the opposite gender. Complete with prosthetics, makeup and clothes, they will role play the other gender through various everyday tasks and special missions inside and outside the house they live in.

    The series is about understanding what it truly means to be male or female in our times and what better way to understand it than becoming the opposite sex?

    Re-Gender, based on a licensed international format from Armoza Formats, comes to India after a successful run in Iran and Germany and will be hosted in India by popular television celebrity Ranvijay Singha and his wife. It also features Rithvik Dhanjani, Karan Wahi, Raghu Ram and Bharti Singh.

    Another series Official Chukyagiri is a slice-of-life fiction web series that is an emotionally charged yet humorous take on life in corporate India viewed through the eyes of an intern.

    Speaking about the content strategy, Arre founder and managing director B. Saikumar said, “We wanted to launch Arré with a differentiated property, one that was entertaining, contextual and clutter-breaking. I am happy that A.I.SHA was the right show to launch with, since the viewer response has been overwhelming and it has set a good benchmark for our upcoming shows. We’re excited about Season 2 and hopefully will pack in enough thrills and chills for our viewers.”

    Third series, Abbas-Mastan is a show about two peace loving terrorists who are also movie buffs. Also producer of A.I.SHA, Raghu Ram, Founder of Monozygotic announced the launch of the show’s season two.

    MUMBAI: Here’s some good news for Sony Max viewers. Short format comedy fillers namely ‘Bittu Bak Bak’ and ‘Max Fully Deewana’ are back by popular demand on the channel from August interspersed through the day. India’s premier Hindi Movies channel, Sony Max which believes in going beyond movies to entertain its viewers has brought back the comic relief fillers intending to leave viewers in splits. Formulated as spoofs on iconic scenes from Bollywood, the fillers will see known faces namely Krushna Abhishek and Bharti Singh share screen space with new additions comprising of comedians Vikalp Mehta and Sugandha Mishra guaranteed to double the comedy quotient.

     

    This year audiences will be in for a treat with 60 rib tickling filmy gags which will see a few changes. For instance, ‘Bittu Bak Bak’ the quintessential classroom setup will now have comedian Krushna Abhishek don the role of a lady teacher – Rosy Ma’am. Mischievous and incorrigible student ‘Bittu’ played by Bharti Singh develops a crush on the new teacher. ‘Max Fully Deewana’, on the other hand, encapsulates the essence of the channel- ‘Deewana Bana De’ by showcasing hilarious spoofs on some of the most iconic scenes of Bollywood. The filmy gags will feature comedians Krushna Abhishek, Bharti Singh, Vikalp Mehta and Sugandha Mishra play out memorable scenes from Bollywood in a comic manner.

     

    Commenting on the new series of ‘Bittu Bak Bak’ is different from last year, comedian Krushna Abhishek says, “The new series of ‘Bittu Bak Bak’ features a new character – a lady teacher. Earlier Bittu was taught by a male teacher with whom he shared a ‘tom and jerry’ kind of a relationship. However, Bittu has developed a crush on the female teacher and shares a better rapport with her. Similarly with ‘Fully Deewana’, we have done a lot of new spoofs on recent movies like ‘Kick’ and ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’.”

     

    Talking about entertaining people through the two- minute comedy fillers, comedian Bharti Singh says, “We do not want viewers to go anywhere between movies and thus, this concept of the comedy fillers helps keep them glued to their TV sets.  It just makes their television watching experience a lot more entertaining.”

     

    Commenting on the challenges of filming for these comedy fillers, she added, “This is very different from the usual comedy that I do where I have more time but over here I have to explain everything in 2 minutes. It includes a lot of impromptu performance. It’s very challenging for me because we are stand-up comedians and at times even one hour is not enough for us. However, having said that performing on these two minute fillers is a lot of fun.”

     

    Stressing on the importance of comedy fillers in between movies, Neeraj Vyas, Sr. EVP Business Head, MAX and MAX2, stated, “For a channel which provides its viewers with a wide assortment of movies, Sony MAX has always aimed at going beyond movies to entertain its viewers and give them that little extra to keep them coming back to the channel. Comedy fillers are a novel concept and outright funny which also acts as a stress buster for the viewers.”
