    Benedict Cumberbatch to endorse MG Motor India’s upcoming electric car: the MG ZS EV

    MUMBAI: MG (Morris Garages) Motor India today announced Benedict Cumberbatch as the face and ambassador for their upcoming Electric Car “MG ZS EV” in India. The announcement comes as a further extension of the ongoing association between two British icons.

    The MG ZS EV, which is slated to be unveiled in India in December 2019, is a testimony to the carmaker’s long-term commitment towards environment friendly mobility in India. Benedict, who was recently announced as MG India’s Brand Ambassador as well as roped in for the brand campaign and seen in the launch commercial for MG in India sporting the Hector Hybrid; will now don a new avatar for the MG ZS EV.

    Benedict Cumberbatch on his association with MG said, “Since my childhood, I have grown up seeing and reading about MG’s. With the iconic MG brand set to drive into the future, I am delighted to be part of the brand’s journey in India. The ZS EV – India’s first connected electric SUV focuses on and furthers the required change in the environment which is the need of the hour.     MG India’s association with the acclaimed British actor also builds from the shared values and beliefs where both endorse community-led causes like diversity. Benedict Cumberbatch has been known for promoting gender equality and ‘diversity across the board’ within the global entertainment industry. Benedict has also many a times demonstrated his focus on the humanitarian crisis & is known for adopting cruelty free fashion.

    Cristiano Ronaldo-The world at his feet (29th April)- The movie will follow the life of star footballer Cristiano Ronaldo from his beginnings in Portugal, breakthrough start with Manchester United and current career at Real Madrid. The movie has been narrated by award winning actor Benedict Cumberbatch and also features other footballing legends David Beckham, Wayne Rooney and Lionel Messi.

    Sleeping Giant –An Indian football story (6th May) – The movie revolves around the story of two children who were selected from 1700 contenders for once in a lifetime opportunity i.e. to be taken under the wing of a famous English Football club and be trained like pros. Shot over 2 and a half years, this documentary follows the young hopefuls from the back-streets of Mumbai to London as they embark on an incredible journey to realize their dreams and follow them. The movie has been made by the same team who made the documentary ‘The Four Year Plan’, who found out about this story whilst shooting behind the scenes at QPR.

    MUMBAI: This is the best way to begin the new year for all the Sherlock fans. Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman have come together one more time for a brand new season of BBC drama Sherlock that will air exclusively on AXN India from 7 January every Saturday at 8 pm.

    After three successful seasons, the latest addition to the most loved thriller series will showcase new faces and bigger hurdles for Sherlock Holmes.

    Returning from his forced exile, Sherlock reunites with Dr. Watson to figure out how his nemesis Moriarty, could be back from the dead. Adding to this intensity is another murky villain Culverton Smith played by Toby Jones.

    “AXN is home to some of the best shows and characters in the English entertainment space. AXN has been home to Sherlock ever since the show launched and grew tremendously in popularity. We have been keenly waiting for the launch of the new season. It is the most awaited show of 2017 and we wanted to air it around the same time as its world premiere for our viewers.     AXN lines up three seasons of ‘Sherlock’ back to back

    MUMBAI: AXN is gearing up to enthral the audience this festive season by airing all three seasons of Sherlock in a row. The initiative for the binge watchers titled as Sherlock Thrillathon will be from 25 – 27 December from 12 – 6 pm.

     

    Sherlock is the crime drama series starring the duo Sherlock and Dr. Watson played by Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman respectively. With Sherlock’s new special episode titled as The Abominable Bride around the corner, the channel is geared up to take fans on the nostalgic ride with back-to-back episodes of Sherlock seasons 1, 2 and 3.

     

    The channel will continue the trend into New Year, by airing back-to-back episodes of Sex and The City starting New Year midnight. The channel will also air back-to-back episodes of Bradley Cooper starrer Limitless the entire day on 1 January, 2016.

    Warner Bros. begins principal photography of ‘The Jungle Book’ movie

    MUMBAI: Principal photography has begun on Warner Bros. Pictures’ new big-screen, 3D adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s beloved classic The Jungle Book, marking the feature film directorial debut of Andy Serkis. Blending live action and performance capture, the film features an impressive roster of stars, including Oscar winners Christian Bale and Cate Blanchett and Oscar nominee Benedict Cumberbatch.

     

    The story follows the upbringing of the human child Mowgli, raised by a wolf pack in the jungles of India. As he learns the often harsh rules of the jungle, under the tutelage of a bear named Baloo and a panther named Bagheera, Mowgli becomes accepted by the animals of the jungle as one of their own. All but one: the fearsome tiger Shere Khan. But there may be greater dangers lurking in the jungle, as Mowgli comes face to face with his human origins.

     

    The actors performing the roles of the story’s central animal characters are: Benedict Cumberbatch as the tiger – Shere Khan; Cate Blanchett as Kaa – the snake; Christian Bale as the panther – Bagheera; Andy Serkis as Baloo, the bear; Peter Mullan as the leader of the wolf pack, Akela; Tom Hollander as the scavenging hyena – Tabaqui; Naomie Harris as Nisha, the female wolf, who adopts the baby Mowgli as one of her cubs; Eddie Marsan as Nisha’s mate – Vihaan; and Jack Reynor as Mowgli’s Brother Wolf. On the human side, young actor Rohan Chand will play the boy raised by wolves – Mowgli.

     

    The film is being produced by Steve Kloves, who wrote seven of the Harry Potter films, and Jonathan Cavendish, with Nikki Penny serving as executive producer. The screenplay is by Callie Kloves, based on the stories by Kipling.

     

    Among those collaborating with Serkis behind the scenes are production designer Gary Freeman, Oscar-winning editor Mark Sanger and Oscar-winning costume designer Alexandra Byrne.

     

    The film is slated for release on 6 October, 2017.
