  • Star scoops 40 awards at 2005 Promax & BDA Awards

    MUMBAI: A grand total of 40 awards, that’s the score that Star managed at the 2005 Promax & BDA Awards held in New York, USA with a total of 15 World golds, 13 World silvers and 12 World bronzes.

     
    The awards bagged varied across categories, including World gold awards in branding and image (Star Movies), marketing presentation in print and packaging (Star Chinese Movies), Art direction & design in public service announcement (Star Plus), directing (Channel [V] India), promotional items (Star World) and image print (Star Group).
    Star COO Steve Askew said, “Star’s accomplishment at Promax & BDA in recent years clearly reflects the creativity and dedication of our creative teams, and accentuates again the breadth and depth of our design talents. These international awards also reconfirm Star’s leadership in setting the standards for the television industry across Asia.”

     
    The Promax & BDA Awards are for promotion and marketing professionals as well as for design contributions in the broadcast media industries and electronic media.

  • Max steals the show at Promax & BDA awards

    MUMBAI: The final hours of the Promax/BDA India edition belonged to Max. Sony Entertainment India’s movies & special events channel bagged ten Golds while sister channel SET pocketed two taking the number of Promax/BDA Golds claimed by the network to 12.

    Among music channels Star India’s Channel [V]’s superiority was clearly visible when it outsmarted archrival MTV with a rich haul of seven Golds. MTV, Turner International and Nat Geo tied at three each.

    Max’s Wings of Fire on the under-19 ICC championship in Bangladesh won the coveted Best of Show promo Gold. The promo fetched as many as five Golds for Max.

    A delighted Set India executive vice president and channel head Rajat Jain told Indiantelevision.com, “Max continues to deliver brilliantly on all fronts. Apart from becoming the No.1 channel in ratings in the movie business, these awards reaffirm the creative excellence of Max and its team during 2004.”

    “Max as a brand has always stood for innovation, creativity and attitude – innovation that is visible in our programme and marketing efforts, creativity that can be seen across all our communication and finally attitude that is inherent in our core value proposition to the consumer which is Deewana Bana De,” said Max vice president marketing & commercial Tushar Shah.
     
     
    Accepting the awards, Channel [V] head honcho Amar K Deb told Indiantelevision.com, “It feels great to be the No.1 music channel in terms of Promax/BDA awards too. The Promax/BDA India has proven once again that when it comes to the category of music channels, we are undoubtedly number one, mind it!”

    TCM celebrates 10th anniversary in US on Wed

    MUMBAI: Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will turn 10 years old on 14 April 2004 in the US.

    TCM celebrated with a new star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for its founder Ted Turner on 7 April. Tomorrow, on 13 April, it will ring the bell of the New York Stock Exchange. The network also expects to hit the 70 million subscriber mark by the end of this year.

    In the US, the network will air festivals of films coinciding with the political conventions, including the favourite movies of Senators John McCain, Orrin Hatch, Joe Biden and Tom Daschle. Off air, the network is creating a new book In the Picture: Production Stills from the TCM Archives, in conjunction with Chronicle Books. It will feature over 150 production stills from classic films.

    A company release adds that the on-air look and creative strategy for TCM has earned the respect and recognition of the creative community. Last year it won 45 Promax and BDA Awards. The network claims distribution in more than 40 countries. The network is in nearly 30 million households in Europe, reaching 84 per cent of households in Ireland and 82 per cent in the UK

    MTV wins Asian Television, Promax & BDA Awards

    SINGAPORE:MTV has reaped a rich harvest of awards this year. In addition to clinching several prominent awards in the region, it recently bagged four awards at the Asian Television Awards held on 4 December. MTV Networks Asia nabbed the highly coveted Cable & Satellite Channel of the Year, Best Entertainment Special, Best Entertainment Programme and Best Light Entertainment Presenter/Performer categories.

    he company also scored nine wins, four Golds and five Silvers at the PROMAX & BDA Awards held a day before on 3 December.

It attracted an attendance of over 7,000 people, bringing together the largest gathering of local and international talent ever seen in Asia. Executive producer, David Flack, produced the Awards show.

    Shot in Singapore during Travis’ Asia tour in July 2001 at the Singapore Repertory Theatre, the 29-minute show is part of a series featuring live performances of artists playing in Asia. The feel is raw and close up, creating an honest portrayal of the artists’ music and talent. Live performances are interspersed with band members talking about their music.
