Tinder peeks into a world of possibilities in latest ad

MUMBAI: Every swipe on Tinder represents the possibility of meeting someone new and interesting, and starting something epic – an epic friendship, a crazy adventure or an epic love story. The possibilities are endless and quite literally in the palm of your hand. Tinder’s new digital film brings this world of possibilities alive.

This latest Tinder video follows the fun, confident and spunky Tinder girl, played by indie musician and actor Kavya Trehan, as she goes about exploring the world and herself, enjoying the adrenaline rush of bonding with the people she meets along her way. Her world is full of joy, ease, spontaneity, excitement and adventure, minus any fear of rejection or judgment to hold her back.

The film conceptualised and executed by BBH India and directed by Bharat Sikka, plays to a lively background score of ‘Jaan Pehchan Ho,’ originally sung by late Mohammad Rafi and has been recreated by Mikey McCleary – an India-born New Zealander music composer known for many award-winning tracks. A 90 second digital film, it brings to life the snazzy, empowering and irreverent world of Tinder where one is free to be oneself, create new connections with like-minded people, and open a world of epic experiences for themselves.

Commenting on the new video, Tinder India head Taru Kapoor says, “Tinder expands your world by helping you meet new and interesting people you may never meet otherwise, as well as opens doors to exciting beginnings. The film portrays the joy and adrenaline of the epic possibilities that millions of Tinder users enjoy every day while being in control at all times. On Tinder, epic can range from a great conversation where you discover something new, an amazing first date, the beginning of a new friendship to the starting of a romantic relationship – the chemistry of every conversation on Tinder is unique! Women especially love Tinder as it is a community based on equality, mutual respect and a place where they are not judged for being themselves or being bombarded with unsolicited attention.”

BBH Delhi executive creative director Vasudha Misra adds, “Tinder, at its core, connects people to other like-minded people, helps one make new friends, find a date or a life partner. It puts people in control of their social interactions in a way that may not be possible otherwise. And this film is an unabashed, joyous celebration of that feeling. In a world where we are always being told how to behave and what not to do, Tinder stands (and does a little jig) for individual choice, without judgment.”

BBH Delhi general manager Shreekant Srinivasan mentions, “BBH has been known for partnering with some of the most iconic global brands that challenged and redefined pop culture. Tinder has challenged taboos and become a part of lifestyle and culture both globally and in India. So, the partnership is natural. I’m extremely excited with the work we have created.”

  • BBH: Why stereotype beauty

    BBH: Why stereotype beauty

Mumbai: Nihar Naturals Coconut Hair Oil, the market leader in east India, launched its latest campaign challenging the culture of beauty stereotyping ingrained in society.

Women are often subjected to perceptions of being ‘more capable’ or ‘less capable’ based on their physical appearance and their choice of hairstyle. Nihar Naturals has always been at the forefront of challenging stereotypes. In 2015, Nihar partnered with Neilson to launch a nationwide study #IAMCapable, to build awareness amongst women about this culture of beauty stereotyping. The report drew attention to the biases faced by Indian Women today – 64% of Indian Women have agreed that judgements passed on them has affected their ability to reach their true potential.

BBH has conceptualised the campaign, which reiterates Nihar Natural’s brand purpose & takes the conversation a notch higher. Featuring long-term brand ambassador Vidya Balan, the campaign drives a strong message that a woman’s capability should not be judged based on the choice of her hair style. It goes on to state that beautiful hair is not a sign of capability, it is only a sign of a potent hair oil.

Marico Limited CMO Anuradha Aggarwal said, “Over the years Nihar Naturals through its various campaigns has communicated that a woman’s hair cannot be a parameter of judging her or her capability in anyway. This year’s campaign talks about how ‘Beautiful hair is not a sign of a woman’s capability, it is only a sign of a potent hair oil.’”

Vidya Balan added “This film through different creative sequences beautifully tries breaking yet another stereotype of judging women and their professions basis their hairstyles.”

BBH India CEO & managing partner Subhash Kamath said, “Nihar Naturals’ hair care category is a very competitive and cluttered one. So it’s quite a challenge to create a differentiated brand idea.”

BBH India executive creative director Rajesh Mani added, “Nihar Naturals has, over the years, taken a humorous dig at societal judgements on women’s hair and equating it with their capability. So the TVC is like a playful theatre of the absurd. The photo studio and the changing of backgrounds according to a woman’s hair style bring about the subconscious judgements that people make about women.”

  • BBH’s three quirky films for Creo Mark 1 smartphone

BBH’s three quirky films for Creo Mark 1 smartphone

NEW DELHI: The CREO Mark 1, which claims to come out as a new phone every month with never-heard-before features, has now come out with three quirky films that show how its features Echo, Sense and Retriever can be used in different situations. The creative agency is BBH India.

The aim of the Bangalore based consumer technology company Creo   is to make sure that ‘what you see is what you get.’   Earlier, the process of metamorphosis showed that software updates could transform the smartphone experience.

The short films tease the use-cases in which the end-customer will need unique features. These videos, active on all company properties, are going to be integral add-ons to the extensively spread out digital campaign that the brand has undertaken.

The aim is to show how life becomes simpler with a smartphone and #MakeBetter Android with features like Echo, Sense and Retriever that are in-built in the Fuel OS that runs CREO Mark 1. The three films employ metaphorical elements, making the core proposition simple to understand, while being relatable to consumers in a humorous manner.

The messages are – with these features, one will never miss a call again because Mark 1 will Echo it; search for anything in your phone that is overflowing with apps and data only by typing it out and Mark 1 will Sense it; and never lose a phone to a thief as it can be got back with a Retriever.

To understand how Echo, Sense and Retriever can be used in different situations, BBH India explains these unique and useful features playfully and vivaciously.

Speaking about the campaign, BBH India Managing Partner and Chief Creative Officer Russell Barrett said, “The excitement of ‘Making’ and helping craft this brand from the very beginning is quite a trip. Along with the lovely people at CREO and through BBH Live we managed to conceive of, write, direct and co-produce these simple, stylish looking films. Hopefully the simplicity and the finish will be something that people appreciate and like.”

  • Adobe and Publicis Groupe team up to deliver a global marketing platform

Adobe and Publicis Groupe team up to deliver a global marketing platform

MUMBAI: Publicis Groupe and Adobe have announced a strategic partnership to deliver the Publicis Groupe Always-On Platform, the first end-to-end marketing management platform from Publicis Groupe that automates and connects all components of a client’s marketing efforts.

The platform will standardise on Adobe Marketing Cloud, and all agencies across Publicis Groupe will be able to create engaging content, access marketing intelligence, identify and build audience segments, deliver campaigns, and track and measure marketing performance through a unified technology and data structure.

It will be anchored in VivaKi as an open framework so that every agency can deploy and brand it uniquely for use.  Agencies currently slated to access the system include BBH, DigitasLBi, Leo Burnett, MSLGROUP, Publicis Worldwide, Razorfish, Rosetta, Saatchi & Saatchi, Starcom MediaVest Group, VivaKi and ZenithOptimedia.

The collaboration is expected to drive growth across the two companies, and accelerate Publicis Groupe’s goal to make combined digital and emerging market revenue 75 per cent of its multi-billion dollar business by 2018.

“Adobe and Publicis Groupe are a powerful combination and we have been delivering marketing innovation together for more than two decades,” said Adobe president and CEO Shantanu Narayen. “The massive scale of agency services across the Publicis networks, coupled with Adobe’s unique leadership in digital marketing solutions, will enable Publicis clients to develop best-in-class digital marketing capabilities that drive growth.”

“By embarking on this journey with Adobe, a powerhouse in creative and marketing solutions, Publicis Groupe will be the first agency holding company to offer clients an integrated set of digital marketing solutions across all key marketing and creative agencies” said Publicis Groupe chairman and CEO Maurice Levy. “We are solving a core marketing dilemma for our Clients by enabling them to more personally interact with their customers and tell relevant, powerful stories at scale, while successfully navigating the complex digital landscape.”

“We are essentially creating a new operating model stitching together multi-agency services, technologies and workflows to the benefit of our clients,” said VivaKi’s chief growth officer Stephan Beringer.  “By converging the forces of marketing technology, data, creativity and strategy, we eliminate silos, optimize delivery and maximize the investments made in ad budgets, talent and consumer engagement.”

The platform is scheduled to provide Publicis Groupe agencies and their clients with four solutions to solve current marketing challenges:

    1.      Multi-touch Attribution. The Always-On platform will move the market beyond “last click” attribution by providing options for a multi-touch model that identifies and assigns true value to specific marketing components – online and off line – that help spur customer action. Publicis Groupe agencies will be able to enhance their attribution and planning solutions with Adobe’s Master Marketing Profile and Media Mix Modeling, as well as Adobe Analytics, to measure the most effective touch-points across channels and model investments.

    2.      Unparalleled Audience Understanding. Always-On encompasses a data management platform (DMP) which will produce a robust set of customer profiles, segmentations and vertical insights.  VivaKi will also develop a data co-op where clients, and ultimately publishers, can opt in and contribute data in exchange for even richer customer profiles, vertical insights and customer intelligence.  Adobe Audience Manager and Adobe Media Optimizer will drive optimal targeting and cross-channel campaign performance.

    3.      Campaign/Marketing Automation.  As screens and devices proliferate, Always-On is expected to automate marketing effort across multiple channels. With the goal of integrating Adobe Campaign with analytics and segmentation tools, the platform will empower Publicis Groupe agencies to drive campaign efficiency and engagement across the full customer journey to reach audiences that matter at the highest moments of receptivity. The automated integration will allow all marketing functions to coordinate efforts by acting on the same data. This includes an agreement across the agencies for cross channel campaign management for search and social buy side optimization through Adobe Media Optimizer.

    4.      Content and Experience Management. The digital asset management capability within Adobe Experience Manager is expected to enable teams, wherever they sit inside the network, to easily and effectively create, manage, and control valuable digital assets. From the moment an asset is created to the point of delivery, the platform will enable workgroups to create and manage assets through the entire lifecycle of global branding and multichannel distribution with a single, easily accessible digital repository.

Both Adobe and Publicis Groupe will invest in joint sales and marketing, including retaining a dedicated team of strategists and business development specialists to innovate and bring the platform to market.

  • Bang Bang Films directors Nic & Sune direct Ranbir in Axe‘s new commercial

Bang Bang Films directors Nic & Sune direct Ranbir in Axe‘s new commercial

MUMBAI: Axe Click‘s new commercial starring leading Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor has rolled out.

The ad has been conceptualised by BBH Singapore, produced by Bang Bang Films and directed by Nic and Sune.

BBH Singapore regional business development director – Asia Ara Hampartsoumian said, “It‘s never an easy task when an advertising agency is asked to not only replicate but actually improve on what was previously a globally successful ad, but the four key elements of client, agency, production and celebrity all aligned on this one and we delivered. BBH had a wonderful experience shooting another great spot for Unilever‘s Axe brand in Bombay. Our star Ranbir Kapoor was truly a pleasure to work with and Bang Bang Films helped hold it all together. Really fun, wouldn‘t have changed a thing.”

Earlier, Nic and Sune and Bang Bang have worked with Ranbir together a couple of years ago in Pepsi‘s “Youngistaan ka Wow.”

Bang Bang Films founder and MD Roopak Saluja said, “Having delivered a super-hit Ranbir spot with Nic and Sune in the past, they were an obvious choice for Axe. Not too long ago, Axe was a brand using global creative on Indian TV. To have the opportunity to produce an Indian spot with the same aspirational production values is a real pleasure for us at Bang Bang.”

Talking about the commercial, director Sune Maroni said, “Being asked to shoot an Axe commercial is an honour for any commercials director. Their spots offer cheeky humour combined with sophisticated visuals and have managed to capture a space in the collective consciousness of young people all across the world.

We‘ve been lucky enough to shoot with Ranbir Kapoor before, and it is always a pleasure to work with such talent, but for this film we had more time to have fun. The script allowed for some improvisation on his part and he never fell short when challenged to add the RK-touch. We don‘t think it was too difficult for Ranbir to imagine himself in a situation where he is being flirted with by a great number of drop-dead-gorgeous women. His life is pretty much like that of Vince in the celebrated TV-series “Entourage”. Maybe that could be his next project, an adaption of “Entourage” for India. We would love to direct that.”
