ZeeMELT and Kyoorius celebrate memorable moments of TV industry

KOLKATA: Kyoorius, in continuation of the campaign launched at ZeeMelt 2019, released a montage image that features 58 memorable characters from TV serials and shows broadcast across Doordarshan and Hindi GECs.

“I thoroughly enjoyed this brilliant piece of art and loved the process of identifying my favourite characters from the world of television. There is a beautiful relationship which gets created between a viewer and the character, and this painting celebrates this bond and the power of the entertainment platform. I congratulate the teams from Kyoorius and BBDO, who have created this masterpiece. I wish them all the best and look forward to a yet another successful edition of ZeeMELT,” Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd MD & CEO Punit Goenka said.

“Last year, to mark ZeeMELT, we had created a collage of memorable moments from Indian advertising. It was no surprise to us that the image went viral as consumers enjoyed competing with each other to see who had identified more moments and brands. Programming and advertising are both content as far as our viewers are concerned and this painting is a natural progression of the original thought," Kyoorius founder & CEO  Rajesh Kejriwal said.

He was confident that the image would go viral again. “The painting is a wonderful example of communication riding on popular culture. TV is popular culture in India, and, across the country, much time is spent of discussing TV content and thousands of social media messages discuss developments on TV shows and the performances of characters," he added.

"Last year's ZeeMELT poster was a fun guessing game of the most memorable Indian ads over time. This year, more ambitiously, we decided to create an interactive poster with famous shows that filled our living rooms with life. We've tried to capture the memories and times of the last 40 odd years through the characters who gave us our most memorable TV moments. The result is not just a guessing game, it's an outpouring of nostalgia — a glorious look at where we come from," BBDO India CCO and chairman Josy Paul said.

  • Crompton launches new TVC campaign “Silence Bhi aur Energy Savings Bhi”

Crompton launches new TVC campaign “Silence Bhi aur Energy Savings Bhi”

MUMBAI:  Leveraging its leadership in the fan’s category, Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd has unveiled its latest multimedia campaign called “Silence Bhi aur Energy Savings Bhi” for its new launch of innovative and premium range of SilentPro ceiling fans that is 2X times more silent than regular fans and delivers up to 50 per cent energy savings in electricity costs. Showcasing a playful interaction between a husband and wife, the campaign brings out a humorous yet much needed insightful take on silence.

The world we live in has become increasingly noisy today, constantly bombarded by sounds. Having a bit of silence to ourselves has become a luxury that we hope to achieve some times. Also, with everyone now being at home for a longer period, distractions have gone up a notch – from the constant background noises of a TV to ambient noises of a squeaky ceiling fan, our peace always tends to get disrupted. Hence, it’s important to give our ears a break or take a break from those distractions and difficulties of that busy life and try to experience the peace and tranquility. Bringing this to light, Crompton has launched its latest multimedia campaign – “Silence Bhi aur Energy Savings Bhi” for its new innovative SilentPro fans taking into consideration the underlying importance of those moments of silence that is needed in our daily lives as well as an entertaining take on a couple’s relationship in the film.

Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd  VP marketing Rohit Malkani said, “We are very pleased to launch this campaign for our new range of ceiling fans called SilentPro that captures the very nuances of everyday life. Crompton has consistently innovated to provide meaningful solutions that ease the consumers’ life. We understand that the fan is one of the most essential/fundamental necessities at home. At the same time, energy efficiency is also one of the driving factors in trying to save costs as well as doing our bit in contributing to the environment. Hence, keeping in mind how everyone needs a little bit of peace and quiet today more than ever before, we hope that the campaign addresses the same and our product helps in bringing comfort, long term benefit in energy savings as well as (mental) peace to the people."

Conceptualised by BBDO India, the narrative of the quirky film showcases a hilarious quarrel between a husband and wife where the latter finds it hard to experience some silence or cooling at home in the midst of her loud husband and a creaky fan. In placing a bet of having a fan that guarantees innovation and premiumness with a triple benefit – not only silence but also a higher air delivery and one that is also completely energy efficient – the wife takes the win leaving an astonished husband in the wake of a peaceful scene, thereby capturing the most basic need/moment of experiencing silence and having “silence bhi aur energy savings bhi.”

The 360-degree campaign will be launched on television and will further be amplified through various other mediums of the media.

BBDO Mumbai CCO Hemant Shringy said, “The noise of a fan is something that we are so used to that we don’t realise how we have compromised our lives around it. We speak loudly, we keep the television volume high and often miss out some moments and conversations. Only once we experienced Crompton SilentPro did we realise what we were missing, and that we can experience silence even when the fan is on. Innovations like these make communication a lot easier. We really just highlighted the reactions that we all had. Because just like the husband in the film, we too felt, ‘Sab fans awaaz karte hain’ (all fans make noise). And that made room for interesting banter between our couple. This film adds to the world of the Crompton couple that we have so far lived with featuring the various offerings and innovations from Crompton – from fans and lights to coolers and home appliances.”

  • Idea urges people to use social media responsibly in new ad

Idea urges people to use social media responsibly in new ad

MUMBAI: Addressing the growing phenomenon of the need for validation on social media, Idea has launched a campaign titled #MeriRealLife, encouraging people to drop the pressure of chasing and sharing perfection on social media, and instead, share real, unfiltered stories using Idea 4G.

The campaign went live yesterday with the first two TVCs breaking on the live matches of Asia Cup Cricket Tournament.

There are over 400 million internet users in India and over 50 per cent are active social media users. Rapid proliferation of 4G has enabled better internet speeds, resulting into Indians now spending almost 28 hours a week on mobile phones. This mammoth increase in consumption of 4G data has been fuelled largely by people sharing and consuming videos and photos on social media.

On an average, people spend anywhere between 2-4 hours/day on social media platforms. With such high engagement, social media is bound to have a huge impact on the lives of people. The new Brand Idea campaign is designed to propagate ‘Responsible Use of Social Media’ with the tagline ‘Perfect ka pressure hatao, Idea 4G ke saath apni real life dikhao’.

Vodafone Idea chief marketing officer Sashi Shankar says, “People are constantly, looking for validation on social media for their behaviour – be it what they are eating or wearing or places they are visiting. The growing phenomenon of living to share on social media and not the other way around, is driving people towards a dual life –a social life and their real life.”

The campaign is developed basis research inputs from mental health professionals from MPOWER, an organisation that aims to end stigma and encourage dialogue around mental health. Insights from research by MPOWER suggest that the constant need for validation leads to a loss of self-worth, a feeling of being ‘not good enough’ resulting in anxiety and related issues, especially amongst the youth actively engaged on social media.

Staying with Brand Idea’s belief in purpose led advertising, this campaign elevates the role of Idea 4G beyond the category conversation to something that reflects its transformative role in people’s lives and society.

The high decibel campaign will lead with a series of three TVCs of 40 and 35 secs duration, capturing the concept through the lens of three people from different walks of life, sharing how their social media lives are different from their real lives.

The Idea ads show people talking about a fancy new car, the perfect look and relationship goals on their social media, while in their real lives they are questioning their own shallow behaviour. The videos end with the characters having their moment of reckoning, where they encourage the world to share their real photos and videos with #MeriRealLife.

The TVCs have been directed by Shimit Amin, the director of critically acclaimed blockbusters such as Chak De, Rocket Singh – Salesman of the year, Ab Tak Chappan.

The new campaign has been developed by BBDO India.

The campaign will be promoted on TV, Radio and Digital through high decibel visibility across 100+ TV Channels and strategic integrations in shows/programs such as Film Companion by Anupama Chopra on Digital, and popular radio shows ‘Heart to Heart with Meera’ and ‘Calling Karan’ on Ishq/Love 104.8 among others.

7UP launches limited edition throwback bottles

MUMBAI: Remember those good old days when rock-and-roll ruled the charts? When rotary phones were a fixture in every home? #Throwback is not just a hashtag but a reminder of the past; of times when cool had a different definition; when creative expression, retro designs, ‘flower power’ ruled the roost, and when Fido Dido was the man of the moment.

This summer, beverage brand 7Up is all set to take consumers on a trip down memory lane with its new campaign, 7Up Back to Cool. The lemon flavour presents consumers with a blast from the past, with the launch of six vintage deigns.

The limited-edition packaging is celebrating the spirit and soul of six different decades in history, starting from the 1950s and running through the 2000s.

Printed on the bottles, the 1950s slogan screams out ‘Sure Is Swell’, a popular slang of the decade; while the ‘Far Out Flavour’ slogan captures the essence of the 1960s. The 1970s are depicted through the ‘Get Down, 7UP’ slogan and ‘Clearly The Uncola’ takes centre stage on the bottle label inspired by the 1980s.The 1990s bottle sees ‘King of Cool’ Fido Dido take a break while lying in his hammock. Rounding off the pack of six is the 2000s’ ‘Timeless Taste’ bottle slogan, which exemplifies how the clear drink has remained a favourite over the decades.

The 7Up Vintage packaging is brought alive on screen through a TVC, conceptualised by creative agency BBDO, which shows the evolution of the different designs.

PepsiCo India associate director of flavours marketing Gaurav Verma says, “7Up is a brand which is inherently cool and has retained its personality through the decades. Through the limited edition 7Up Vintage packaging, we have once again taken a unique and ‘cool’ approach to connect with today’s generation. In the age of throwbacks and selfies, the 7Up Vintage bottles are the perfect representation of our Shelf to Media strategy and we are confident the new, limited edition packaging will truly make 7Up stand out on retail shelves.”

Excited about the launch, BBDO India chairman and chief creative officer Josy Paul adds, “These are collector’s items. Fido is the original daddy of cool! It’s so awesome that you want to own every one of these global vintage packs. And you want others to enjoy them to. How do you do that? With the 7UP Back to Cool promo offer! Now everyone has a chance to go back in time with a bottle of 7 Up! Nostalgia is cool!”

7Up has rolled out a 360-degree marketing plan with the launch of the TVC which will be supported by massive outdoor and digital surround. The edgy new PET bottles will be available to consumers across all modern and traditional outlets across the country.

The brand is also introducing limited-edition design merchandise, including bluetooth speakers, headphones, t-shirts and hoodies, notebooks, sippers and funky slap-bands inspired by the new packaging. Consumers will get a chance to win these merchandise through promo packs on select bottles only in Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and West Bengal.

  • Idea Cellular shows how it can transform lives

Idea Cellular shows how it can transform lives

MUMBAI: Idea cellular has rolled out its new campaign ‘A video can change your life’, which focuses on the transformative role of Idea 4G via the medium of videos.

The campaign aims at elevating the role of Idea 4G beyond the category conversation around speed, coverage, content and apps.

Idea Cellular chief marketing officer Sashi Shankar says, “Videos are a universal language that transcends literacy, and hence hold immense power to transform. The new Idea campaign is inspired by the many transformational stories that have been enabled by videos. Videos do not just entertain us, they influence us, stir emotions, inspire, move and lead us to positive actions. Videos on our mobile phones are a transformative force of good. Backed by the power of Idea 4G, it has the power to spread and transform our society for the better.”

The TVC captures the chain of change that is triggered through videos and the cascading effect that they have in transforming people’s lives. It shows how a video of kids waiting to be adopted makes a young professional pause and think and then decide to educate many such kids in his office, post working hours. A homemaker sees a video of an evening school and is infuriated on learning that unsafe streets are not allowing girls to benefit from education. Uploading a video teaching self-defence, the woman’s action thus inspires the next person in the chain.

Having established a pan-India wireless broadband network and on the back of rapid 4G proliferation, Idea has been building 4G credentials and brand stature through its advertising campaigns.

With 4G enabling better internet experience, Indians are now spending more than 28 hours a week on mobile phones. This mammoth increase in consumption of 4G data has been fuelled largely by video. The average time spent watching videos in India has doubled in the last couple of years. With affordable 4G pricing, approx 65 per cent of the audience is now watching videos with mobile internet and nearly 8.5 hours of video content every month.

“While bringing this idea to life, we knew the power of a video had to be felt through the emotion it evokes and the action it inspires. And our campaign needed to reflect that,” adds Shankar.

The TVC has been directed by filmmaker Shimit Amin and developed by BBDO India.

The new ad campaign went on-air on digital and television on New Year’s Eve, with the marquee shows Star Screen Awards and Ted Talks India Nayi Soch. It is on-air across 100+ TV channels and will also be seen during the India-South Africa matches as Idea is a co-sponsor for the series. The TVC has already garnered 2.3 million views on YouTube and will be amplified on digital and via other integrations.

Conceptualized by BBDO India, the film shows different situations where people are seen breaking away from a certain prejudice that the society imposes. BBDO India chairman Josy Paul said, “When we started work on eBay, we had questions: Will our idea provoke conversation? Will the context last longer than the immediacy of the content. Hemant Shringy, BBDO India executive creative director, said, “After an amazingly explorative and collaborative process, we arrived at the idea – Things Don’t Judge. With 10 crore things at the heart of the idea, it says that in a time when we are constantly judging and being judged, things have the incredible quality and power of not judging.”
