    The show will be aired from Monday-Friday at 6:57 PM.

    CNN-News18 unveils new primetime lineup

    MUMBAI: CNN-News18, the national English news channel of News18 Network, has announced an all-new programming line-up for the evening primetime. With an aim to deliver insightful news and a platform for the common man to voice their views and concerns, the channel is all set to redefine its primetime with powerful line-ups. The Right Stand, a high octane debate show, believes in putting India first and focuses on major national issues. The show will telecast every weeknight at 7.57 pm, starting tonight.

    Talking about the refreshed content, Network18 CEO English and business news cluster Basant Dhawan said, “During the last year, News18 Network strengthened its value proposition and has now firmly cemented itself as the leading news network in the country. The refreshed programming is a part of our continued efforts of pushing the envelope of journalism.     Disrupting the primetime at 7.57 pm, The Right Stand will be hosted by executive editor, Anand Narasimhan (@AnchorAnandN). Narasimhan, in his distinctive style, will lead the discussions and capture various facets of the news story helping viewers make an informed opinion. The hour and a half long show will witness intense debates on top national stories of the day with the biggest newsmakers.

    Anchored by India’s leading political journalist, Bhupendra Chaubey, executive editor (@bhupendrachaube), the channel will also introduce Viewpoint at 5.57 pm. Brass Tacks hosted by Zakka Jacob, executive editor – output (@Zakka_Jacob), the most influential media person in 40 under 40 and an award-winning journalist for two consecutive years, will telecast at 9.25 pm. The shows will further bolster the channel’s positioning of ‘On Your Side’.

    Continuing the legacy of differentiated and engaging content, Viewpoint will disrupt the standard formats as seen on news television by bringing forth an unparalleled and in-depth ground-level view on the major issues of the day. With Jacob’s analytical demeanour and his innovative approach to news telling, Brass Tacks will bring unmatched insights for the viewers by providing a crisp news bulletin comprising key 50 news stories of the day.

    Airing at 6.57 pm, Bottom Line anchored by Kishore Ajwani, managing editor (@KishoreAjwani), the show will feature stories that are of direct relevance and interest to viewers. At 10.26 pm, political editor, Marya Shakil (@maryashakil) will continue to host Epicentre offering a comprehensive round-up of all big stories including burning political stories of the day along with issues focusing on gender biasness, minorities etc.

    A 360-degree marketing campaign is launched for an extensive outreach and engagement with the viewers for the refreshed primetime. Designed to elaborate the core philosophy and impactful proposition, the campaign integrates print, outdoor and digital medium.     Mumbai: CNBC Awaaz, India’s foremost and largest Hindi business news channel, today announced the launch of ‘Khiladi No.1’. A unique markets show with game-based programming, Khiladi No.1 will see top analysts making their best trading calls each day to earn maximum profit. At the end of each trading day profit/loss will be announced for each analyst. At the end of the week, the analyst making maximum money or the least loss will be declared the winner. The show will be hosted by Harshada Sawant, Senior Editor of CNBC-Awaaz.

    Network18 announces new organisation structure with 3 clusters

    MUMBAI: Network18 has announced a recasting of its major cluster groups in order to exploit better efficiencies and achieve faster growth.

    It will have just three clusters. The English & business cluster includes CNN-News18, CNBC-TV18, Awaaz and Bajaar, CNBC HD Prime & News18 International. The Hindi cluster includes News18 India & News18 Hindi regional channels (UP/UK, MP/CG, Rajasthan, Bihar/JK, Urdu & Himachal-Punjab-Haryana) while the languages cluster includes all News18 regional channels minus Hindi—TN, Kerala, Kannada, Odisha, Bengal, Assam/NE, Gujarat & News18-Lokmat.

    Three key appointments have been made to bolster each cluster and drive it to the next level of operational excellence. Basant Dhawan joins as CEO of the English/business cluster. An engineer and an alumnus of IIM Calcutta, Dhawan joins Network18 from Star India where he spent the last four years in a variety of roles. His last role was national agency business head for entertainment sales in Star India. Dhawan will be based in Mumbai.

    The CEO of the Hindi cluster is Mayank Jain, who will lead the fast-growing News18 India and the cluster of other news channels across various Hindi speaking states. Jain, who will be based in New Delhi has joined Network18 from Star India's entertainment division. He is an INSEAD alumnus, and has experience in a raft of sectors ranging from telecom and FMCG to financial services across geographies.

    Karan Abhishek Singh has joined as CEO for languages cluster, also from Star India where he managed integrated sales for television and digital. His last role involved heading pan-India agency relationships. Singh will be based in Bengaluru. He is an alumnus of NMIMS, Mumbai, and has worked in organisations as varied as PepsiCo, Nokia, Godrej Sara Lee, HLL and GE.

    All three will report to Network18 COO Avinash Kaul.

    Star India moves Basant Dhawan from sports to entertainment biz

    MUMBAI: Star Sports senior VP, brand solutions and sponsorships Basant Dhawan has been shifted to entertainment business by the group. He will be working as national agency head, which will contribute to the growth of the entertainment ad sales business.

    His earlier role included product and revenue strategy and sales functions. He was responsible for creating pricing and revenue assets, product packages along with sales for all new sports leagues that Star has been associated with, including Pro Kabaddi League (PKL), football leagues and Premier Badminton League (PBL). 

    Prior to Star India, Dhawan was the general manager-media in Vodafone India services. He has worked with auto, telecom, media and entertainment industries in his career.

    With over 25 years of experience, Dhawan is a result oriented marketing and business professional. His expertise lies in direct sales, distribution, product management, brand marketing media planning and buying to name a few.

    He started his career with Escotel as manager marketing and then moved to Airtel’s Landline business, Touchtel as corporate sales manager after 4 years. He has also worked with Reliance communication, Reliance Infocomm, Bharti Aitel and Aircel.

    In 2018, Star India launched two channels expanding its sports cluster named Star Sports 3 and Star Sports 1 Telugu. Star Sports 1 Kannada is also being tested and will launch before New Year.

    Under the new tariff order, Star Sports 1 Kannada (30 December) and Star Sports 1 Telugu (7 December) have been priced at Rs 19 for TV consumers.
