    BARC week 22: Sun TV continues on top across genres, Sony Max down to fourth

    MUMBAI:  Sun TV continued its run at the top position in week 22 of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) All India data, followed by Star Plus and Colors at second and third place respectively with Sony Max moving to fourth place from last week’s second place. 

    The last five saw movement along with a re-entry and an exit. Star Utsav moved up a place to sixth from last week’s seventh. Zee Anmol re-entered the list, while Maa TV exited after a short stint at tenth place last week. Its peer in the Telugu space, Zee Telugu retained eighth place. The list covers the top 10 channels across all genres.

    Placed at the top slot, Sun TV reported higher ratings in week 22 at 979272 Impression (000s) as compared to 965644 Impression (000s) in week 21. Star Plus moved back after a long IPL driven haitus that had pushed it and Colors down. Star Plus reported higher ratings with 771342 Impression (000s) in week 22 as compared to 701975 Impression (000s) in the previous week.

    Colors moved up in week 22 with 720052 Impression (000s) as compared to 679907 Impressions (000s) in week 21. Sony Max with a far lower score in week 22 of 618756 Impression (000s) as compared to 884251 Impression (000s) in the previous week was at fourth week.

    Zee TV retained fifth space in week 22 with lower ratings of 567178 Impressions (000s) as compared to 570091 Impressions (000s) in the previous week. 

    Star Utsav also retained sixth place with a growth in rating to 527825 Impressions (000’s) from 478993 Impressions (000’s) in the previous week. , Sony Pal also retained its last week’s position of seventh place with 526739 Impressions (000’s) as compared to 467806 Impressions (000’s).

    Life OK returned to eight spot, pushing down Zee Telugu one place in week 22 with 438899 Impressions (000s) as compared to 435353 Impressions (000s) in week 21

    ZeeTelugu moved one place down to ninth place in week 22 with 472509 Impressions (000s) as compared to 458926 Impressions (000s) during last week.

    Zee Anmol returned to the top ten list in week 22 after a one week break with 431517 Impressions (000s).

    MUMBAI: In week 21 of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India data, Star Utsav toppled Sony Pal this week to claim number one position in Rural Hindi Speaking market (HSM) whereas Star Plus continued to lead the Urban HSM.  

    Rural HSM Data

    Star Utsav garnered the first position with 369244 Impressions (000’s) followed by Sony Pal with 344698 Impressions (000’s) and Zee Anmol with 320136 Impressions (000’s) stood at number three.

    Zee Networks’ Hindi GEC channel Zee TV bagged the fourth spot with 232232 Impressions (000’s) while another FTA Rishtey grabbed fifth spot with 228257 Impressions (000’s).

    Star Plus stood at sixth spot with 219739 Impressions (000’s) followed by Colors at number seven with 216100 Impressions (000’s) and Big Magic at number eight with 157418 Impressions (000’s).

    In rural data, Life OK stood at number nine with 154986 Impressions (000’s) and Sab TV with 104568 Impressions (000’s) grabbed tenth spot.

    Urban HSM data

    Star Plus continued to lead the Hindi general entertainment channel (GECs) with 429608 Impressions (000’s) followed by Colors with 428420 (000’s) on second slot and Zee TV with 291806 Impressions (000’s) at third place.

    Life OK, Sab TV and Sony Entertainment Channel bagged fourth, fifth and sixth position with 270565 Impressions (000’s), 240562 Impressions (000’s) and 233351 Impressions (000’s) respectively.

    Sony’s free to air channel Sony Pal grabbed seventh spot with 121712 (000’s) and pushed &TV down to eighth spot with 109531 Impressions (000’s).

    Star Utsav stood at number ninth berth with 108359 Impressions (000’s) while Zee Anmol grabbed tenth place at 91176 Impressions (000’s)

    Star Plus to pull two recent fiction shows off air

    MUMBAI: Star Plus is all set to launch a new line up of shows. The channel is set to launch its new show Humko Tumse Ho Gaya Hai Pyaar Kya Karein which will replace Rashmi Sharma Telefilms’ Silsila Pyar Kya at the 8.30 pm time slot.

    Silsila Pyaar Ka was launched on 4 January. The show will go on air on 6 June from Monday- Friday. According to the sources, it failed to generate good ratings for the channel and that that is the reason the show has been pulled off air

    Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) data indicates that Silsila Pyaar Ka garnered 3646 Impression’ 000s in week 16, whereas in week 17 the ratings went down and the show scored 3535 Impressions ‘000s. In week 18 and 19, the show witnessed even more drop in ratings with 2901 Impressions ’000s and 2957 Impressions ‘000s respectively.

    Humko Tumse Ho Gaya Hai Pyaar Kya is set in Delhi. It tells the story of two unconventional families with their distinct Delhi flavours. Anokhi belongs to the lower middle class Mehra family while the male lead Tushar belongs to the affluent Mallik family. The show features an ensemble cast with veteran actors Sudhir Pandey and Abha Parmar in key roles. It has been produced by Suzana Ghai of Panorama Productions.
    Another show that is going off air is Dahleez which was launched on 14 March at the 10.30 pm time band. The show was co- produced by Colosceum Media and producer Farhan Salaruddin’s Fortune Productions.

    A source close to the development informed that the new show Ishabaaz will replace Dahleez at 10.30 pm time slot.

    Produced by 4 Lions Films, the show is about three brothers and the lives of different characters.

    Though the concept and the content of the show was appreciated by the masses., Dahleez received sustainable ratings. In week 16, the show recorded 1725 Impressions ‘000s while in week 17, it witnessed a slight hike in ratings with 1797 Impressions ‘000s but in week 18 and 19, the ratings has been dropped and it bagged 1572 Impressions ‘000s and 1396 Impressions ‘000s respectively

    MUMBAI: Viacom 18’s Nick continued to dominate the kids genre in week 20 as per Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India’s all India (U+R) data in NCCS All 4-14 Individuals category.

    Leading with 94908 Impressions (000’s) at the first spot, the channel was followed by followed by Turner International’s Pogo TV in the second spot with 86536 Impressions (000’s). Hungama took the third spot with 68403 Impressions (000’s) followed by Disney Channel in fourth place with 67086 Impressions (000’s). Cartoon Network took the fifth spot with 59112 Impressions (000’s).

    The top programming list for BARC week 20 saw a phenomenal change with Motu Patlu overtaking the entire list, ushering Nickelodeon to be the lone star in the genre. Nick’s Motu Patlu In Alien World – Part I dominated the airtimes with 1127 (000s sums), followed by Motu Patlu Kungfu King Returns with 1094 (000s sums) ratings.

    Motu Patlu Deep Sea Adventure bagged 1039 (000s sums) making it the third most watched program in the kids genre. Motu Patlu Kungfu Kings was the fourth most watched show with 924 (000s sums) while Motu Patlu Mission Moon took the fifth spot with 915(000’s) ratings.

    MUMBAI: According to week 20 of BARC India, 6 Mega Cities : NCCS AB : 4+ Individuals rating, Zee café climbed back to its top position. AXN dropped a place in the English entertainment space. Star Movies returned to top spot, pushing Movies Now to second spot. Discovery continued to top the infotainment genre.

    English Entertainment

    Zee Café climbed up and replaced AXN on first position, with a rise in rating to 247 Impressions (000s). AXN followed on second spot with 223 Impressions (000s). Star world with 183 Impressions (000s) grabbed third position. Comedy Central with 167 Impressions (000s) and Colors Infinity SD with 135 Impressions (000s) took fourth and fifth positions respectively.

    English Movies

    Star Movies repossessed its top position replacing Movies Now with 2684 Impressions (000s). Movies now dropped a rank to second spot scoring 2593 Impressions (000s). Sony Pix secured third spot with 1663 Impressions (000s). Zee Studio grabbed fourth position with 1415 Impressions (000s) and HBO got fourth spot with 1126 Impressions (000s).

    Infotainment

    Discovery continued to rule infotainment genre with 4881 Impressions (000s). History TV18 followed on second position with 3899 Impressions (000s). National Geographic Channel with 3305 Impressions (000s) and Animal Planet with 3298 Impressions (000s) grabbed third and fourth position respectively. Nat Geo Wild was on the last spot with 2005 Impressions (000s).
