    BARC week 30: Regional GECs witness significant spike in viewership

    NEW DELHI: In week 30 of BARC India ratings, regional GECs saw a spike in viewership across regions except for Oriya. The greatest spike was observed for the Tamil Market with 1035819 impressions, as compared to 847609 impressions in week 29. In the Malayalam market, Zee Keralam made a comeback with 69168 impressions.

    In the Bangla market, Star Jalsha, Zee Bangla, Jalsha Movies, Colors Bangla and Sony Aath were the top five channels in week 30 of BARC India ratings.

    BARC week 30: Gemini Movies replaces Star Maa Movies in Telugu genre

    MUMBAI: In week 30 of BARC India ratings, in the Telugu segment, Gemini Movies has replaced Star Maa Movies at fifth position with 208414 weekly impressions. Last week Star Maa was seen at the 5th position. Most of the regional segment did not witness any major changes in week 30.

    No changes were seen in the Bangla market. Zee Bangla, Star Jalsha, Jalsha Movies, Aakash Aath and Zee Bangla Cinema were the top five channels.

    Bhojpuri Cinema grabbed the leading position from B4U Bhojpuri which was leading last week. The channel was followed by B4U Bhojpuri, Big Ganga, Dabangg, and Bhojpuri Dhamaka Dishum.

    No changes were observed in the Gujarati market.

    Zee Kannada, Colors Kannada, Udaya TV, Star Survarna and Udaya Movies continued to be the top five channels in the week 30 of BARC India ratings.

    In Malayalam segment, Asianet, Flowers TV, Mazhavil Manorama, Surya TV and Asianet Movies were the top five channels.

    No changes were observed in the Marathi segment. Zee Marathi, Fakt Marathi, Colors Marathi, Zee Talkies and Star Parvah were at first, second, third, fourth and fifth position respectively.

    BARC week 30: Zee Anmol enters list of top 10 Hindi GEC in rural HSM

    MUMBAI: In week 20 of BARC India ratings, Zee Anmol has entered the list of Hindi GEC rural HSM. The channel has replaced Sony Pal which was at the 10th position last week. This week Zee Anmol was at the 9th position. Star Ustav which was at the 9th position has moved one step down. There were no changes observed in the position of the leading Hindi GECs.

    On the pay platform of Hindi GECs, Sony Sab has moved to third position from fourth in the last week. Colors has moved one step down at fourth position from third in the last week.

  • PKL effect: New difference between Star Sports First’s viewership & nearest competitor is 7X

    MUMBAI: Star Sports, the official broadcaster of Vivo Pro Kabaddi Season 5, reinforced its stature, by continuing to draw remarkable viewers — for the second time in a row.

    Star Sports First in BARC week 30 registered 148506 Impressions (000s) sum and, this week, it recorded 208354 Impressions (000s) sum leaving behind the second best channel this week by 93431 Impressions (000s) sum, according to BARC’s all-India data analysis.

    The Star India’s channel which recently became free to air with sports content lead the pack last week. Star Sports First managed to pocket as much as 148506 Impressions (000s) sum in BARC India week 30 beating the second best channel by around 14000 Impressions. Star Sports First had gathered the viewership from Pro-Kabaddi League (PKL) season 5 which has helped it to reach to numero uno position in sports genre.  

    According to fresh data provided by Star Sports, across Genre: All India (U+R): 2+ Individuals, at the end of 13 games, the gross impressions are 376 million and the cumulative reach stands at 132 million (16.9 per cent). 

    The Kabaddi tournament has received a stirring response from both urban and rural markets with rural regions generating a reach of 90 million and urban markets contributing with a reach of 42 million. Star Sports First accounted for 28 per cent (36.3 million) of the total viewership generated during week 1 of the tournament.

    The Star Sports press release added: Across Genre: All India (U+R): M15+AB, There has been a significant increase across all core markets with Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka registering a 40 per cent, 34 per cent and 52 per cent growth in viewership, respectively.

    Riding on the rising popularity of Star Sports 1 Tamil and Star Sports First channels, Tamil Nadu witnessed a six-times increase in viewership while Uttar Pradesh doubled its viewership. Post 13 games, Vivo Pro Kabaddi Season 5 rated 59 per cent higher than the first 13 games average of Pro Kabaddi Season 4.

    MUMBAI: While on one hand News X left the English news genre top 5 list, BBC World News entered at the fifth position. English News genre witnessed an increase in ratings this week.

    In the English Business News genre, CNBC TV18 and ET Now observed increased ratings while NDTV Profit and NDTV Prime, Bloomberg TV saw a decline in viewership.

    According to week 30 of BARC India ratings, Hindi News genre witnessed mixed ratings this week.

    Times Now continued to dominate the genre with an increase in the ratings from 243 Impressions (000s) last week to 327 Impressions (000s) this week. CNN News18 toppled India Today Television taking the second position with 150 Impressions while India Today Television grabbed the third spot with 119 Impressions (000s). NDTV 24×7 took the fourth berth with 112 Impressions (000s). BBC World News entered the top 5 list at the fifth position with 56 (000s).

    CNBC TV18 continued at the number one position with 113 Impressions (000s) this week from 103 Impressions (000s) in this week. ET Now also saw a slight improvement with 101 Impressions (000s). NDTV Profit and NDTV Prime continued at its third position with 22 Impressions (000s). Bloomberg TV was on last spot with 8 Impressions (000s).

    Aaj Tak with an increase in ratings sustained its number one position with 80653 Impressions (000s) as compared to 78572 Impressions (000s) in the previous week. India TV grabbed the second spot with increase in ratings to 76225 Impressions (000s) from 73334 Impressions (000s) in week 29. India News garnered 51983 Impressions (000s) and was at third spot, while ABP News with 51228 Impressions (000s) was on fourth position. News Nation with a decrease in the ratings from 45695 Impressions (000s) was at fifth place

    CNBC Awaaz maintained its first position with an increase in ratings from 839 Impressions (000s) in the previous week to 911 Impressions (000s) in week 30. The second spot was taken by Zee Business with 654 Impressions (000s) in comparison to 666 Impressions (000s) in week 29.

    MUMBAI: Viacom 18’s Nick was yet again the most watched channel in the kids entertainment segment, according to Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India’s all India (U+R) data for week 30 in NCCS All 4-14 Individuals category.

    The channel has bagged 67139 (000s sums) impressions showing a drop in its ratings as compared to week 29 Nick is followed by Turner International’s Cartoon Network by securing 63251 (000s sums) impressions.

    Its sister channel Pogo TV has locked a viewership rating of 50610(000 sums) securing it the third spot on the list, followed by Hungama from Disney India on the fourth spot with 45578 (000s sums) impressions. The list shared by BARC India concludes with Disney Channel at the fifth spot with 45025(000s sums) impressions.

    When it comes to the top five most watched programs in the genre, Motu Patlu has maintained its stronghold in the genre dominating three out of the top five spots.

    Nick’s Motu Patlu In Carnival Island – Part 1 leads the chart with 827 (000s sums), followed by Motu Patlu 36 Ghantey Race Against Time Part – I from the same franchise grabbing the second spot with with 640 (000s sums) impressions.

    With a slightly lower ratings of 559 (000s sums) Motu Patlu in Wonderland was third most watched show in the category . CN’s Lights, Camera, Roll No. 21 Kris In Bollywood made an impressive entry back on the top five program list at number four, with 534(000 sums) impressions.

    Hungama’s Doraemon The Movie Nobita The Explorer Bow! Bow! claimed the fifth spot in the program list with 508(000s sums) impressions. Overall there was a significant drop in total viewership in the genre.
