    BARC week 29: Gujarati GECs see drop in viewership

    NEW DELHI: In week 29 of BARC India ratings, it was observed that in the Bhojpuri market Zee Biskope took the second spot after many consecutive weeks, whereas in the Gujarati market Colors Gujarati replaced ABP Asmita with 36707 impressions. In the week 28, ABP Asmita had left Colors Gujarati Cinema behind with 24330 impressions, there has been a drastic drop in TV ratings in the Gujarati market

    In the Bangla market, Star Jalsha, Zee Bangla, Jalsha Movies, Colours Bangla and Sony Aath were the top five channels in week 29 of BARC India ratings.

    HUL becomes top advertiser again; Ministry of Health and Family inserts most ads in BARC week 29

    MUMBAI: The Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India has released its data for last week’s top advertisers and brands between 14 July to 20 July 2018.

    The data is a reflection of top 10 advertiser across genre on Indian television (U+R) : 2+ Individuals. 

    The data demonstrates ads that were inserted the most in week 29 of 2018. 

    Top Advertisers: 

    Not much has changed in terms of top advertisers this week as Hindustan Unilever Limited continued to lead with 155495 ad insertions on television. HUL’s products include foods, beverages, cleaning agents, personal care products and water purifiers.

    Reckitt Benckiser Limited, maker of Dettol, Veet, Durex condoms, Strepsils, Air Wick, Harpic among others stood at second position with 78728 ad insertions. 

    This was followed by Procter & Gamble with 38356 and ITC Limited with 33238 ad insertions. E-commerce major Amazon India retained fifth position this week with mere 30230 insertions. 

    Top Brands:

    The Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare advertised the most and topped the charts with 11504 ad insertions in week 29. 

    Hotel searching website, Trivago, continued to stay the second most advertised brand with startling 11321ad insertions. 

    Internet video on demand service Amazon Prime retained its position and showcased its ads 10489 times while Colgate Dental Cream, a product by Hindustan Unilever Limited inserted its ads 9162 times. 

    Cleaning and disinfecting product Lizol, stood at fifth position with 9132 ad insertions between 14-20 July 2018.

    MUMBAI: Times Now continued as the undisputed leader in the English News space while CNBC TV 18 dominated the English business news genre. In the Hindi news genre Aaj Tak continued to lead whereas CNBC Awaaz ranked number one in Hindi Business News.

    According to week 29 Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) All India data, the English news genre has seen mixed ratings. Meanwhile, players in the English business news, Hindi news and Hindi business news space witnessed hike in ratings.  

    English news

    Times Now maintained its first position with 243 Impressions (000s). India Today Television returned to second position with 131 Impressions (000s). CNN News18 took the third berth with 127 Impressions (000s). NDTV 24×7 grabbed the fourth spot with 83 Impressions (000s) whereas News X sustained its fifth position with 66 Impressions (000s).

    English business news

    CNBC TV 18 expanded its ratings securing its number one position with 103 Impressions (000s) as to 72 Impressions (000s) in week 28 followed by ET Now that secured the second slot with 67 Impressions (000s).  NDTV Profit and NDTV Prime with 25 Impressions (000s) and Bloomberg TV with 20 (‘000s) Impressions (000s)  took the third and fourth positions respectively.

    Hindi News

    Aaj Tak witnessed growth in its viewership and stood at the first spot with 78572 Impressions (000s) as compared to 73334 Impressions (000s) in week 28, while India TV took the second position with 74606 Impressions (000s).  India News sustained its third position with 53592 Impressions (000s) followed by ABP News securing the fourth position with 52640 Impressions (000s). News Nation took the fifth position with 49121 Impressions (000s).

    Hindi business news

    CNBC Awaaz saw an increase in the ratings at the first spot with 839 Impressions (000s) as compared to 733 Impressions (000s) in week 28.  Zee Business stood at the second spot with 666 Impressions (000s) as compared to 522 Impressions (000s) in last week.
