    Colors to air ‘Shakti…Astitva Ke Ehsaas Kii’ from 30 May

    MUMBAI: Prejudice is a burden that confuses the past, threatens the present and renders the future inaccessible. But, what if a prejudice is so strong that it damages a family beyond repair; so harsh that it makes parents discriminate between its own blood relations; so forbidden that it changes the fate of two young children? Colors brings to viewers a tale of conscious prejudice meted out by a family against its own kin with Shakti…Astitva Ke Ehsaas Kii. Putting blood relations in a quandary, Shakti portrays the strength and power of a family to dictate the destiny of its children – Soumya (Mahira Khurrana) and Surbhi (Tasheen Shah). Produced by Rashmi Sharma Telefilms Ltd, Shakti is set to unravel the truth behind their family’s behaviour towards them, starting 30th May 2016, every Monday to Friday at 8:00 PM on COLORS.

    Commenting on the show, Colors programming head Manisha Sharma said, “Prejudice comes in many forms; the differential treatment is based on a variety of factors including race, sex, and age among other reasons. However, the one kind that, though widely prevalent, goes unnoticed is that which a family doles out against its own kin. With Shakti…Astitva Ke Ehsaas Kii, we aim to show how conscious prejudice and the pursuit of perfection has the power to decay an entire family. With this show, we are fortifying our relationship with Rashmi Sharma Telefilms; their penchant for gripping narratives and compelling storytelling has made them a favorite among audiences.”

    Talking about the time slot, she further added, “Shakti will launch in the 8:00 PM primetime slot where it takes the baton from our longest running fiction drama Balika Vadhu, giving audiences a new story to support and follow. Balika Vadhu, in turn, will move to the6:30 PM timeslot where Dr. Nandini, Dr. Amit and Krish’s endearing tale will continue to enthral viewers. Ishq Ka Rang Safed will move up to the 6:00 PM slot.”

    Set against the backdrop of culturally rich and vibrant Punjab, Shakti…Astitva Ke Ehsaas Kii talks about parents who discriminate between their two daughters. The elder one, Soumya doesn’t understand why her father Maninder (Ayub Khan) and Dadi (Mamta Luthra) treat her differently. On the other hand, the younger one, Surbhi’s struggles to understand her mother Nimmi’s (Reena Kapoor) indifference towards her. Having been deprived of an education, and with no friends, toys or companions, Soumya finds solace in her mother’s arms. But the story is different for Surbhi. Smothered in her father and Dadi’s love, Surbhi goes to school, plays with her friends, and gets everything she wants except for her mother’s affection. The want for a socially ‘perfect’ life sees Maninder and Dadi go to any lengths to maintain a false prestige, even at the cost of alienating their own. But the mystery remains…what truth has the ability to tear apart a family from its very roots?

    Speaking about his character Maninder (Father), actor Ayub Khan said, “I have had the opportunity to play diverse roles on television, but the story of Shakti…Astitva Ke Ehsaas Kii is by far most unique and progressive. Societal discrimination is something we are all acquainted with, but Shakti presents a completely different facet of this word. It talks about the prejudice within a family, a place where you least expect it to occur. I am playing the role of an orthodox man, a father who consciously discriminates between his own bloods in the name of prestige.”

    MUMBAI: Star Plus’ latest offering – Ek Hasina Thi is a story unlike any other on Indian Television. Set in the eastern megapolis of Kolkata, this is not a revenge story but a story of a woman seeking justice for a crime committed in the past. However, her methods of claiming justice are unconventional as she steps out of the shackles of traditionalism and utilizes her Mind to conquer Might!

     
    The fight to deliver justice for an inhuman crime is a universally moving theme. It is also equally true that ‘When all else fails and one is pushed to the brink, one is compelled to take an extreme action’. Ek Hasina Thi tracks the journey of such a woman Durga (played by Sanjeeda Sheikh), who has decided to become an active agent of change to achieve her motive of justice. Durga is not only rich, brave, focused with a heart of gold but is also strong, powerful, calculating and manipulative, using her intelligence to stay a step ahead of her adversaries. She doesn’t mind stepping over the boundaries of ‘right’ and flirt with the dark side, but she always remains within the confines of good, never losing touch with her humanity.

     
    However, Durga’s fight is not easy as facing her are the extremely powerful and influential Goenka family – the main antagonists and the target of Durga’s actions. Vatsal Sheth plays the role of Shaurya Goenka who is the rich, womanizing scion of the Goenka clan. A playboy and brat who is not used to hearing the word NO, Shaurya knows that with his family’s influence, he can get away with anything. Standing by Shaurya through thick and thin are his parents – Sakshi and Rajnath Goenka (essayed by Simone Singh and Ayub Khan), whose financial muscle and stronghold over the city automatically make them both a revered and feared opponent. Durga’s task is further complicated when she faces multiple hurdles as relationships, romance and her own emotional conflicts play a role in making her question her actions.

    Chennai based Feroze Khan defends MRF National Indian Junior Touring Car Championships in Style

    DELHI: Chennai based S. Feroze Khan, defended his Indian Junior Touring Car title in style at the end of the recently concluded 2013 MRF National Championships. Feroze, piped Ananth Pittawala of Team N1 from Mumbai in a sensational finish, to win the second and final race of the day at Greater Noida’s Buddh International Circuit (BIC) to seal the championships. Ananth was in great form on the day, having won the first race already and looked set to win the second as well, but Feroze obviously had other ideas. This capped a memorable season for Feroze, where he won six out of the nine races spread over three legs across Chennai, Coimbatore and Greater Noida. It all started with a season opening hat-trick of wins for him at his ‘home’ circuit at Sriperumbadur, Chennai. His exploits in the season, have also enabled Team Rad Racing to win the Team Constructors Title at the championships.

     

    Feroze, a rising star in Indian Motorsports, was born to a well-known family in Chennai with a legacy of racing. Grandfather Sattar Khan used to race during the Sholavaram times and was a middle weight boxing champion for two years, besides racing cars like ambassadors, fiats and imported cars like mustangs. Feroze’s father Ayub khan is two times JK Tyre National Champion. His father obviously was a natural role model.

     

    Feroze started his racing career with Cars India in 2010 and finished 5th in his first race out of 18 cars starting at 10th position on the grid. He ended the year placed 3rd overall. The following year in 2011 he finished 2nd. His steady rise continued and he has now won the Indian Junior Touring Car Championships, two years in a row. He will always be remembered for starting 21st on the grid and emerging 1st in a race in 2012.

     

    Expressing his thoughts at the end of the race and obviously delighted at the result, Feroze said, “This result was important to the team and me to convince us that we are on to good times. It is one thing winning a competitive tour once, and another to win as a defending champion. The pressure of expectations is something you have to live with in any competitive sport. The credit goes firstly to Radha Selvarajan, our chief tuner, who is so knowledgeable and such an inspiration and secondly to the entire team. Friends and family, including my dad have always been there for support and I can never thank them enough. I just hope, I am able to move on to bigger and better things and fulfil the dreams they have of me.”

     

    Large scale series production touring cars race each other in the Indian Junior Touring Cars circuit. These include Maruti Esteem cars fitted with Maruti Esteem MPFI engines only .Zen, Esteem and Swift Blocks may be used as long as the same dimensions as the Esteem block are maintained. This year’s championships saw 24 teams in all participate representing places like Chennai, Coimbatore, Mumbai, Bangalore, Ooty and Trichy.
