    AXN to premiere Graham Yost’s ‘Justified’

    MUMBAI: “It is in the nature of human beings to seek justification for their actions” Some may agree but Raylan Givens doesn’t. AXN is all set to premiere Justified from 30 January, every Monday to Friday at 11 pm.

    Justified premieres in India following a successful six season run in the West. Touted as one of the most intriguing shows on television, Justified commands huge critical acclaim and social media fandom. It was nominated for eight Primetime Emmy Awards including two wins for Margo Martindale’s and Jeremy Davies’ performance.

    Creator of the show Graham Yost said, “India, which is the largest democracy on earth is finally watching the show, and I hope that it still feels as fresh to the Indian audience as it felt to the American audience. We always hoped that the show, Justified, will be watched for a long time. Those who couldn’t see it the first time around could catch up with it now.”

    Based on Elmore Leonard’s novella Fire in the Hole, Justified stars Timothy Olyphantin as the lead character of Deputy US Marshal Raylan Givens, a lawman who finds himself drawn back to his home state of Kentucky which he had escaped for good in his youth.

    MUMBAI: The search for “Asia’s Got Talent” will continue in Season 2 this year after its successful first season in 2015. Sony Pictures Television Networks, Asia, has finalised terms with FremantleMedia International for the talent show’s rights.

    Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment and FremantleMedia International co-produced the “Got Talent” franchise. It appears in the Guinness World Records as the “Most Successful Reality Television Format” with 70 local versions produced across the Asia Pacific, Americas, Europe, Middle East and Africa. The talent show format is telecast in 186 countries around the world, Yibada reported.

    As yet, “Asia’s Got Talent” Season 2 has no local production firm or judges but is anticipated to start talent auditions throughout Asia. Its premiere is scheduled for the second half of the year, and is likely to broadcast on Sony’s AXN network across much of the Asia-Pacific region. It geographically includes the key territories of India, Japan, Korea, and China.

    FremantleMedia International GM – Asia and executive VP Ganesh Rajaram said in a statement that ‘Asia’s Got Talent’ Season 1 had become the benchmark for talent shows in the pan-regional space and that they were thrilled to have had secured the multi-year partnership with Sony Pictures Television Networks, Asia.

    Star World continued to dominate the English Entertainment space with a hike in its ratings. Though, the rest of the channels in the genre observed mixed ratings.

    In the Infotainment space, History TV18 sustained its number one position whereas the players in the factual entertainment genre observed a substantial decline in its viewership.

    According to the week 53 ratings data of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India, channels in the Lifestyle space saw mixed ratings. Living Foodz dominated the genre with a decrease in its ratings.

    Star World with an increase in its ratings sustained at the number one position with 329 Impressions (‘000s) as compared to 238 Impressions (‘000s) in week 52. Zee Cafe was at the second place with 164 Impressions (‘000s) followed by Comedy Central at the third spot with 130 Impressions (‘000s). AXN stood at the fourth position with 111 Impressions (‘000s) whereas Colors Infinity SD maintained itself on the fifth rank with 106 Impressions (‘000s).

    Sony Pix with a decrease in the ratings continued to dominate the genre with 2770 Impressions (‘000s) as to 2736 Impressions (‘000s) last week. Star Movies with 2671 Impressions (‘000s) stood at the number two position. Movies Now with 2452 Impressions (‘000s) grabbed the third position followed by HBO at the fourth position with 1591 Impressions (‘000s). HBO took the fifth place with 1605 Impressions (‘000s).

    Infotainment

    History TV 18 with a decline in the ratings continued to rule the genre with 4857 Impressions (‘000s). Discovery Channel was at the second spot with 4572 Impressions (‘000s). National Geographic with 3155 Impressions (‘000s) and Animal Planet with 2919 Impressions (‘000s) took the third and fourth position, respectively. Nat Geo Wild stood at the fifth position with 2446 Impressions (‘000s).

    Dexter was nominated 4 consecutive times for ‘Outstanding Drama Series’ at Primetime Emmy Awards as well as for ‘Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series’ 5 times in a row. It has also won 2 Golden Globe Awards out of 9 nominations, making it one of the most acclaimed and followed series of all times.

    Michael C. Hall, who plays the protagonist Dexter Morgan in the show, shot to fame as the most loved serial killer globally. He said, “These 10 years have been amazing!     According to the week 49 ratings data of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India, Discovery Channel, after several weeks, jumped up to the number one position replacing History TV18 in the infotainment space.

    Living Foodz stood at the number one position in the lifestyle genre. Apart from FYI TV18, all the rest players observed a decline in the ratings this week.

    Comedy Central with a decrease in its ratings dominated the genre with 342 Impressions (‘000s) as compared to 366 Impressions (‘000s) in week 48. AXN jumped to the number two slot with 214 Impressions (‘000s) followed by Star World with 198 Impressions (‘000s). Zee Café was at the fourth position with 168 Impressions (‘000s) while Colors Infinity SD sustained at the fifth spot with 103 Impressions (‘000s).
