  • AXN enters English Ent Top 5, FYI TV18 Lifestyle hero

    MUMBAI: FX channel dropped out of the Top 5 English Entertainment channels’ list in BARC week 13 paving way for the entry of AXN. Players in the genre witnessed mixed ratings.

    According to Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India data, History TV18 dominated the Infotainment genre although there was a decrease in ratings. The other channels witnessed mixed ratings. 

    FYI TV18 emerged on the top of Lifestyle space where players observed mixed ratings this week.

    English Entertainment

    Zee Cafe with increased ratings dominated the genre with 366 Impressions (‘000s) as compared to 340 Impressions (‘000s) last week.  Comedy Central bagged the second place with 219 Impressions (‘000s). Colors Infinity SD pocketed the third position with 210 Impressions (‘000s) whereas AXN and Star World respectively bagged fourth place and fifth rank with 166 Impressions (‘000s) and 165 Impressions (‘000s).

    English Movies

    Star Movies with low ratings dominated the genre with 2422 Impressions (‘000s) as compared to 3242 Impressions (‘000s) last week. Movies Now came at the second spot with 2422 Impressions (‘000s). Sony Pix with 2383 Impressions (‘000s) took the third position followed by HBO at the fourth and Movies Now 2 at the fifth positions respectively with 1692 Impressions (‘000s) and 1624 Impressions (‘000s).

    Infotainment

    History TV18 with a drop in ratings dominated the genre with 5762 Impressions (‘000s) as compared to 6060 Impressions (‘000s) last week. Discovery Channel and National Geographic Channel respectively took the second and third place with with 5300 Impressions (‘000s) and 3941 Impressions (‘000s). Animal Planet came at the fourth position with 3339 Impressions (‘000s) whereas Nat Geo Wild was at the fifth place with 2622 Impressions (‘000s).

    Lifestyle 

    FYI TV 18 with a hike in its ratings reigned in the genre with 1440 Impressions (‘000s) as compared to 923 Impressions (‘000s) last week. Living Foodz stood at the second spot with 1259 Impressions (‘000s) followed by Fox Life with 1220 Impressions (‘000s). Food Food with 808 Impressions (‘000s) and TLC with 645 Impressions (‘000s) bagged the fourth and fifth position, respectively.

  • AXN to air latest seasons of ‘Top Chef’

    MUMBAI: Food, one of the basic necessities of life, has constantly evolved over the years. Chefs today have magical ways to cook it up in different ways possible. Starting 3 April, AXN brings to you brand new seasons of Top Chef. Top Chef: Boston (S12) and Top Chef: California (S13) will air every Monday to Friday at 9 pm.

    Raising the bar, ace judges – Richard Blais, Tom Colicchio, Gail Simmons, Hugh Acheson, Emeril Lagasse and the charismatic host Padma Lakshmi, promise yet another array of mouth-watering dishes as ace chefs battle it out to win the title of the Top Chef.

    Simmons said, “There are so many chefs from all over the world which makes these seasons very delicious. Every season, we go to a different city across the country and are introduced to its food, people and community. The chefs in every city are so generous to us and we have had a lot of adventures on our way. As far as India is concerned, I love Indian food and eat it whenever I can. The Indian food platter is so diverse, every city has different ways of cooking and I am just learning about it.

  • Broadcasters celebrate Women’s Day in a special way

    MUMBAI: On International Women’s Day, all the broadcasters have decided to bring something exciting for the women in the world. The channels have planned special programming for the entire day. On one hand, some have lined up some exciting shows for women, on the other some, broadcasters have come up with a new anthem or a campaign. 

    Comedy Central

    Comedy Central is all sleeves up to celebrate the “X” chromosome with our Women’s Day Stunt. This Woman’s Day, Comedy Central wants to show ‘Who Run The World’ with our fierce line-up of badass women with shows like Angie Tribeca, FRIENDS, and Playing House. The show will be aired on 8 March.

    AXN 

    To celebrate this success and empowerment of women in every walk of life, AXN presents the story of a powerful woman, Elizabeth McCord, who is trying to balance her demanding career of a U.S. Secretary of State and her family. The season will be aired on 11 and 12 March from 12 – 5 pm.

    Star World Premiere HD

    In a bid to celebrate women, out in the real world, Star World Premiere HD channel, on the occasion of International Women’s Day is all set to run a marathon of one of the most critically acclaimed new age television sitcoms of 2016 – Better Things all day on Wedneday.

    Helmed by the renowned comedian Louie C.K., the series stars Pamela Adlon in the role of a single mother who tries to balance her family life, her work and in all this tries to find some time for her own personal life. Her journey embodies the lives of women around the world who take up various responsibilities and juggle with the chaos that comes with it on a daily basis.

    NDTV Good Times 

    NDTV Good Times has joined hands with Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha to release a special Women’s Day anthem to re-enforce the sentiment that women have been an equal and integral part in changing the world, and how they are a constant part of this evolution.

    “Sonakshi is an ideal person for this initiative as she connects with youth in India and her journey inspires many young girls to believe in themselves, speak their mind and achieve their dreams. NDTV Good Times has always respected the contribution of the fairer gender and through this anthem, we acknowledge the same”, said NDTV Good Times channel head Arati Singh. 

    The special anthem video will be released on 7 March 2017 on NDTV Good Times channel and social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube channel.

    Romedy Now

    The channel has planned to celebrate International Women’s Day in a rather unique manner this year. Supporting the channel’s belief of spreading love throughout the year, it plans to launch a campaign #ThanksButNoThanks! which is an idea to celebrate the spirit of womanhood and one’s own existence everyday instead of waiting for someone else or a special day to get appreciated. 

    The channel has shot a video for the campaign that will be a montage of different women from different walks of lives coming together and expressing themselves. These women include some of the most commendable names like reality show contestant Priya Malik, melodious singer Jonita Gandhi, notable women from the field of journalism, advertising and fashion designing, including Cuckoo – Club co-founder Sharin Bhatti, & Books on Toast Entrepreneur. The channel will launch this video on its social media platform on 7 March, a day prior to International Women’s Day.

  • Zee Cafe leads, FX replaces Colors Infinity in Top 5

    MUMBAI: Colors Infinity this week dropped out of the Top 5 English Entertainment genre channels’ list making way for the entry of FX. The other players observed mixed viewership this week. Zee Café dominated the genre.

    In the English Movies space, Movies Now 2 departed from the Top 5 bracket leading to the entry of Zee Studio. Players in the space also witnessed mixed ratings this week.

    According to the week 8 ratings data of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India, History TV18 was at the number one position in the infotainment genre.

    Living Foodz continued to dominate the Lifestyle space, with the channels observing decrease in its ratings this week except TLC.

    English Entertainment

    Zee Café toppled Star World taking the first position with 275 Impressions (‘000s). Star World came to the second place with 232 Impressions (‘000s). Comedy Central sustained its third position with 230 Impressions (‘000s) whereas FX took the fourth place with 127 Impressions (‘000s). AXN continued at the fifth rank with 113 Impressions (‘000s).

    English Movies

    Star Movies dominated the genre this week with 2639 Impressions (‘000s) followed by Movies Now with 2636 Impressions (‘000s). Sony Pix with 1883 Impressions (‘000s) grabbed the third position followed by HBO at the fourth position with 1556 Impressions (‘000s). Zee Studio took the fifth place with 1320 Impressions (‘000s).

    Infotainment

    History TV18 hoped to the first spot with 5567 Impressions (‘000s).  Discovery Channel took the second spot with 4897 Impressions (‘000s). Animal Planet was at the third spot with 3082 Impressions (‘000s). National Geographic Channel stood at the fourth position with 2917 Impressions (‘000s) while, Nat Geo Wild was at the fifth place with 2851 Impressions (‘000s)

    Lifestyle

    Living Foodz sustained its number one position with decrease in its ratings from 1599 Impressions (‘000s) in week 7 to 1383 Impressions (‘000s) this week. Fox Life stood at the second berth with 946 Impressions (‘000s) followed by FYI TV18 with 796 Impressions (‘000s). TLC with 643 Impressions (‘000s) and Food Food with 631 Impressions (‘000s) bagged the fourth and fifth position, respectively.

  • AXN to premiere ‘The Voice’ s12

    MUMBAI: It’s time we move from stunts to saxophones, action to accordion, and thrill to trumpets with the most awaited music reality show.

    AXN is back with the latest season of the popular singing reality competition The Voice. Season 12 premieres from 4 March, every Saturday – Sunday at 8 pm.

    The three-time Grammy Award winner Gwen Stefani will accompany Alicia Keys, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton in this season.

    The show’s innovative format features five stages of talent competition: the first being the blind auditions, followed by the battle rounds, the knockouts, the live playoffs and finally the live performance shows.

  • AXN to premiere ‘Billions’ s2

    MUMBAI: A self-made Wall Street billionaire vs. a brilliant U.S attorney. One is shrewd whereas the other is brash.     The season two will air from 25 February at 11 pm.

    MUMBAI: He came, we saw and he conquered. That is how Sherlock S4 in India can be summed up. AXN premiered the BBC drama in India with an integrated 360-degree marketing campaign. Taking cues from the global campaign, AXN India adapted the international thought ‘It’s not a game anymore’ and created an India-specific, clutter-breaking campaign.

    The fans loved the concept which in turn garnered quality social media conversations around the campaign tagline and the show.

    Sony Pictures Networks India EVP and business head – English cluster Saurabh Yagnik said, “AXN is an aspirational brand for the youth so we strategically partnered with other aspirational youth brands – Social and Uber. We were able to engage with our target audience more efficiently and effectively creating a win-win proposition for all. The response from viewers has been phenomenal. We trended on Twitter for over 110 hours during the campaign period. AXN is home to Sherlock and we reinforced our position as the best destination for iconic shows and characters.”

    With an aim to further the Sherlock craze, all marketing elements like on-air promotions, social media buzz, on-ground association, outdoor campaigns, radio spots and PR tools were strategically used to make the premiere a huge success.

    The integrated activities began with a month long on-air campaign that included one-of-a-kind association with India’s leading app Uber and buzziest youth hangout joint Social. The first step was for Uber travelers to unlock the Sherlock code on the Uber app. This resulted in top 100 winners of the activity to watch exclusive screening of Sherlock season 4 episode before the India premiere.

    Uber GM Mumbai and West Shailesh Sawlani added, “We tied up with AXN to give our riders across Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore a first-hand flavour of Sherlock, this season. The campaign saw a great response across the three cities and it was a phenomenal experience for the ardent fans to simply enter a promo code to attend the exclusive screening.”

    The three-week long collaboration with Social enabled fans to experience Sherlock’s eccentric lifestyle by being part of an exciting treasure hunt across key Social outlets in India. The fans also got photographs clicked at the Sherlock zone created at the venue, which was equipped with Sherlock props, and win exclusive AXN hampers.

    AXN got on board stand-up comedian of EIC fame, Azeem Banatwalla to take viewers through the Sherlock voyage. A 5-minute crash course to all the previous episodes coupled with his wacky humour, got the more than one million views creating tremendous buzz online.

    AXN to premiere Graham Yost’s ‘Justified’

    MUMBAI: “It is in the nature of human beings to seek justification for their actions” Some may agree but Raylan Givens doesn’t. AXN is all set to premiere Justified from 30 January, every Monday to Friday at 11 pm.

    Justified premieres in India following a successful six season run in the West. Touted as one of the most intriguing shows on television, Justified commands huge critical acclaim and social media fandom. It was nominated for eight Primetime Emmy Awards including two wins for Margo Martindale’s and Jeremy Davies’ performance.
