    McDonald’s, the marketer of the year

    MUMBAI: Winning a Cannes Lions is every brands and agency’s ultimate vision. And, for McDonald’s it has been a common phenomenon.

     

    Since 1979, it has won 77 Lions and this year, it has been made the Marketer of the Year by Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

     

    The award is presented to ‘brands that have distinguished themselves by inspiring innovative marketing of their products worldwide across multiple platforms and who embrace and encourage creativity in their brand communications produced by their agencies’.

     

    Lions Festivals CEO Philip Thomas said, “McDonald’s consistently places creativity at the heart of its advertising and communications, and that has resulted in the brand receiving many Lions at the Cannes Festival. McDonald’s and its agencies have taken creative risks to produce meaningful work, and they see award-winning content earning higher returns – a success story that will, we hope, inspire other brands. We look forward to congratulating the team from McDonald’s by presenting this very important Creative Marketer of the Year Award in Cannes.”

     

    The award will be presented to McDonald’s on 21 June in the Palais des Festivals, Cannes, France.

This award recognises the enduring and inspiring relationships we have with our agencies around the world. It’s a nod to our creative heritage and the power of the brand to connect with customers around the world with a local accent. The honour of winning Creative Marketer of the Year at Cannes Lions recognises the hard work of many people throughout the McDonald’s system.”

     

    Last year, the award was presented to Coca-Cola.

    Punit Goenka crowned ‘Entrepreneur of the year’

    MUMBAI: Enterprise Asia conferred the esteemed title of ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ on Mr. Punit Goenka, MD & CEO of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) at the Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Awards 2014 which was held on 4th March 2014 in New Delhi. The award was presented to Mr. Goenka by former Chief Election Commissioner Dr. GV Krishnamurthy.

     

    The prestigious Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Awards (APEA) recognises and honors business leaders who have shown outstanding performance and tenacity in developing successful businesses within the region. Mr. Goenka was bestowed this award for leading an ever-growing media conglomerate with passion and determination.

     

    On receiving the award, Mr. Goenka said, “I accept this award on behalf of the entire ZEE Family, for it is the result of their hard work and dedication. Our visionary Chairman, Mr. Subhash Chandra, pioneered the private Satellite Television Industry way back in the year 1992, and has proven the importance of foreseeing the market demands well in advance, setting higher benchmarks of entrepreneurship for all of us at ZEE. With great pride, the entire ZEE Family aspires to take his vision forward.”

     

    Mr. Goenka further commented, “During the initial days of my career at ZEE, I came across this beautiful quote on ‘Entrepreneurship’ by Peter Drucker, which said that ‘A true entrepreneur always searches for change, responds to it, and exploits it as an opportunity.’  In my opinion, it is the best definition of a true entrepreneur in today’s era. An Entrepreneur in this era, has to be all ears to these ever-rising demands of today’s consumers across the globe, and has to satisfy the consumers, by proactively presenting them, the customized offerings. This evening, I believe is a celebration of this entrepreneurial spirit, across Asia Pacific, and I am glad to be a part of it.”

  • Antara Kak joins the Colors fiction team

    Antara Kak joins the Colors fiction team

    MUMBAI: She started off her career as an assistant director working mostly on nonfiction shows and documentaries. Now Antara Kak has shifted gears and has joined the Colors team as a fiction producer. “I’ve always wanted to do fiction shows and this is a complete jump for me,” admits Kak who joined the channel on 16 September.

    Kak comes to Colors loaded with an experience of 20 years. She worked on Surabhi, which was produced by her father Siddharth Kak, for about eight years. Post that she directed a documentary- A life in dance- that won her the prestigious IDPA (Indian Documentary Producers Association) award for debutant director.

    She was also the creative director for ‘Mano ya na mano’ on the erstwhile channel Star One as well as the supernatural thriller ‘Sambhav kya’ on 9X. Till now she was a part of Cinemavision production house with her father and now she has been given the responsibility of handling her first show on Colors which is to be a relaunch, the name of which was not revealed. Work is on in full speed as the show is expected to go on air in one month.

    As producer, Kak will be responsible for producing shows for Colors along with Prashant Bhatt, who is the weekday programming head.
