  • EY’s Bhavisha Jogi: Scaling heights with determination and grit

EY’s Bhavisha Jogi: Scaling heights with determination and grit

MUMBAI: Scaling peaks gives her a high like nothing else.  Bhavisha Jogi, a seasoned marketer and branding strategist, is also an intrepid mountaineer chasing a dream that only a handful dare to pursue: the “seven summits challenge”—conquering the tallest peaks on each continent. With Kilimanjaro in Africa, Elbrus in Europe, and Kosciuszko in Australia already under her belt, Bhavisha now has her sights set on the remaining four summits.

Her latest mountaineering effort – the fourth of the seven summits – was  a bold step into uncharted territory—South America. Fuelled by a desire to push her limits, she embarked on an expedition to summit Mount Aconcagua, the highest peak in the southern hemisphere. As a proud Bhramshatriya woman from Gujarat, Bhavisha carried the pioneering spirit of her heritage to the base camp of Plaza de Mulas and beyond, navigating rugged terrains and unforgiving conditions.
    Mt Elnrus
Each phase of the climb was a test of her resilience, particularly the ascent to Camp 3, which she describes as one of the most challenging moments of her life. “The journey wasn’t just about reaching higher altitudes—it was about discovering what I’m made of,” she reflects.

But for Bhavisha, mountaineering has always been about more than just summits and accolades. It’s a deeply personal endeavour—one that has taught her invaluable lessons about persistence, humility, and the importance of knowing her limits.

“At this point, I’ve decided not to push myself beyond 6,000 metres anymore—not because I can’t, but because I’ve learned to honour my body and the life I want to live,” she shares.

This decision marks a shift in her approach to extreme mountaineering. While her passion remains undeterred, Bhavisha now focuses on balancing ambition with self-care. “Know your limits, but don’t let them define you. Push when it matters, rest when it’s wise, and always be grateful for the journey,” she advises.

But she also confessed that her mindset could change going forward in terms of going beyond 6,000 metres. “”It was brutal – the mountain terrain as well as the winds and temperature,” she shivers, even recollecting the experience. “And that’s why I am probably feeling the way I am now. But the feelings could change.”Bhavisha Jogi

Bhavisha’s gratitude extends to her professional mentors, including Ruchi Chawla, Mayank Rastogi, Anurag Gupta, and Vivek Soni, who supported her in taking time off to pursue her dream. And of course her husband Bipin Mundada who’s stood by her side to help her  move closer to her dream.

“Every time I go up into the mountains, his heart is in his mouth,” she says.”But he’s always encouraging me. I communicate with him too whenever I get a wifi signal to let him know I am all right. And this time Vodafone was good in south America.”

Her mountaineering pursuits serve as a source of inspiration, not only for her community but also for aspiring adventurers worldwide.

Beyond the mountains, Bhavisha’s career as a marketing leader is equally impressive. Currently serving as associate director at EY, she has a robust track record of success in brand strategy, digital marketing, and customer experience.

Her previous roles at Edelweiss Financial Services and ING Vysya Bank showcase her expertise in crafting impactful campaigns and managing large-scale digital initiatives.

Yet, despite her corporate accolades, it’s the mountains that have left an indelible mark on her. “The privilege to stand amidst such grandeur and the strength to endure it have profoundly shaped me,” she says. For Bhavisha, mountaineering is as much about inner growth as it is about physical achievement.

As she continues her pursuit of the Seven Summits, Bhavisha remains a beacon of perseverance and inspiration. Her journey is a testament to the power of dreams, the courage to explore, and the wisdom to reflect. “In the end, the summit within is what matters most,” she concludes.

With four summits down and four to go, Bhavisha’s story is far from over. Whether scaling towering peaks or leading transformative marketing campaigns, she is proof that determination and balance can lead to extraordinary heights—both literally and figuratively.

  • ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 – Who is Your Favourite?

ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 – Who is Your Favourite?

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is the biggest event in the cricketing calendar, and it will be held in India from October 8 to November 19. Ten teams will compete for the coveted trophy, which was last won by England in 2019. India, the hosts, and the two-time champions are widely regarded as the favorites for the title, as they have a formidable batting lineup, a balanced bowling attack, and a home advantage.

However, who will win? Is your pick (or picks!) the undisputed favorites, or are there other contenders who can challenge them? In this blog post, we will analyze how each team fares and who is your favorite to win the title.

India: The Hosts and The Favourites

India is undoubtedly one of the strongest favorites of the betting app providers to win the World Cup, as they have a formidable batting lineup, a balanced bowling attack, and home advantage. Led by Rohit Sharma, India boasts of players like Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, and Jasprit Bumrah, who can dominate any opposition on their day. India has also been consistent in ICC tournaments, reaching the semi-finals or finals in six of the last seven editions. India has won the World Cup twice, in 1983 and 2011, and will be aiming to repeat the feat on home soil.

India’s experience and leadership are also key factors that make them a formidable team. They have players who have played in many international matches and tournaments. They also have players who have won the World Cup before, like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. They have a calm and composed captain Rohit Sharma, who leads by example and motivates his teammates.

    Australia: The Five-Time Champions

Australia is another team that cannot be taken lightly, as they have a history of winning the World Cup five times, more than any other team. Australia has a powerful batting lineup, featuring players like David Warner, Steven Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Marnus Labuschagne, and Mitchell Marsh. Their bowling unit is also formidable, with players like Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa, and Josh Hazlewood. Australia has also been in good form recently, winning the ODI series against India and South Africa earlier this year. Australia will be looking to bounce back from their semi-final exit in 2019 and reclaim their glory in 2023.

    Pakistan: The Unpredictable Team

Pakistan is a team that can surprise anyone with its unpredictable performances. Pakistan has a talented squad, with players like Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Hasan Ali. Pakistan also has a reputation for performing well in ICC tournaments, as they won the Champions Trophy in 2017 and reached the final of the World T20 in 2009 and 2007. Pakistan has also won the World Cup once, in 1992, under the inspirational leadership of Imran Khan. Pakistan will be hoping to emulate their success in 1992 and end their long wait for another World Cup title.

Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman are likely to open the innings, followed by Mohammad Rizwan at number three. Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez can bat at number four and five respectively, while Imad Wasim and Faheem Ashraf can provide the finishing touches at number six and seven. Sarfaraz Ahmed can also be included as a wicket-keeper batsman who can bat anywhere in the order.

    England: The Defending Champions

England is the defending champion of the World Cup, having won their maiden title in 2019 in a thrilling final against New Zealand. England has a dynamic batting lineup, with players like Jonny Bairstow, Dawid Malan, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Liam Livingstone, and Moeen Ali. Their bowling unit is also impressive, with players like Chris Woakes, Mark Wood, Adil Rashid, and Sam Curran. England has also been consistent in ODI cricket in recent years, winning a series against India, Australia, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. England will be aiming to become the first team to win back-to-back World Cups since Australia in 2003 and 2007.

    New Zealand: The Dark Horse

New Zealand is a team that has always punched above its weight in ICC tournaments. New Zealand has a balanced squad, with players like Kane Williamson, Martin Guptill, Devon Conway, Ross Taylor, Jimmy Neesham, Mitchell Santner, Trent Boult, and Tim Southee. New Zealand has also been in excellent form recently, winning the inaugural World Test Championship against India and reaching the final of the T20 World Cup in 2021. New Zealand has also reached the final of the last two ODI World Cups but lost both times to Australia and England. New Zealand will be hoping to go one step further in 2023 and win their first-ever World Cup title.

They have players who have played in many international matches and tournaments. They also have players who have reached the final of the last two ODI World Cups, like Kane Williamson, Ross Taylor, Trent Boult, and Tim Southee.

    Conclusion

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 promises to be an exciting and competitive tournament, with each team having its chance of winning the title. While India and Australia are the obvious favorites, Pakistan and England are also strong contenders, and New Zealand is always a dark horse. Who is your favorite to win the World Cup?

  • Bowlers can spell doom for batters in Australia, says Ishant Sharma

Bowlers can spell doom for batters in Australia, says Ishant Sharma

Veteran bowler Ishant Sharma talks about India’s chances of winning and how the current player line-up is perfect. In the interview, Sharma expressed his thoughts about the former captain’s batting performance being crucial for the win and believes Kohli will be there for his team. He also discussed other talents on Rohit Sharma’s team and how they have a great chance of winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 after the prolonged wait since 2007.

While the Indian fast bowler is excited about the tournament, he thinks it will be a great one as multiple teams have fantastic players. For Sharma, it’s more exciting, especially after the first match victory for India.

Explaining the key points to bring home the silver cup, Sharma thinks the bowlers will be ‘crucial’ in the tournament. The chances of bounce are pretty high. Bowlers will have a lot of opportunities since Australian grounds are big. He also states that scoring runs are comparatively easy in T20 tournaments these days. He says bowlers are the ones ‘who can make the difference.’

Explaining India’s odds against winning without star bowler Jasprit Bumrah, Sharma said, “There is plenty of depth in India’s fast bowling and somebody is going to have to step up and win the World Cup for their team.”

When he was asked whether the Indian team has the perfect balance of experienced and youth players, Sharma was affirmative. He expressed how the team has a good ‘experienced core’ with players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Dinesh Karthik, and KL Rahul. He also said the Indian team has multiple players accustomed to winning T20 games.

He also stated that the Indian team is in good shape and they have prepared well. Sharma said, “The Indian team has played a lot of T20 cricket in the build-up and I think they’ve rotated the team well enough so that every player is mentally fresh. That’s so important.”

Praising India’s star player Kohli, Sharma showcased full support and faith for the former skipper. Sharma said, “I have played so much cricket with him since childhood and I know that he will perform exactly how the team needs him to perform. If they require quick innings from him, he will deliver. If they need somebody to bat through the innings, he can do that, too,” while explaining how Kohli is all about his team.

During the interview, Ishant Sharma also talked about other players at length, like how Rishabh Pant has the power to win a game ‘single-handedly.’ He also explained how Suryakumar Yadav is a ‘difficult player to bowl to.’

While concluding, the interviewer asked Sharma to name challenging teams for the upcoming T20 World Cup, and he pointed to England and Australia. With star players like Jos Buttler and David Warner on these teams, Sharma thinks ‘they can put bowlers under pressure from any situation and are a big part of why he thinks their teams can challenge India for the title.
