    &flix celebrates three years of Hollywood films

    Mumbai: Popular English movie channel &flix will celebrate its third anniversary on 3 June and air a ‘Flix birthday special’ bouquet of movies for its viewers all day-long. 

    The channel has lined up some blockbuster films for binge viewing on 3 June. The day will begin with Terminator 3: Rise of Machines that stars Hollywood action icon Arnold Schwarzenegger in the lead role. The film is the story of a powerful cyborg from a post-apocalyptic future who tries to protect his companion in the present. The film also stars Nick Stahl, Claire Danes, and Kristanna Loken in the lead roles. 

    Another movie that will be telecasted is Godzilla starring Matthew Broderick and Jean Reno in the lead roles. Released in 1998, this movie directed by Roland Emmerich is widely considered a classic among film buffs. 

    Michael Bay’s Transformers, Avengers: Infinity War, Will Smith starrer Men In Black, and Bad Boys For Life will be also telecasted as a part of &flix’s third-anniversary celebrations.

    MUMBAI: Indian fans of the fiction action film Terminator Genisys have a reason to rejoice. The much awaited movie is premiering for the very first time on Indian television on 12 June 2016 at 1 pm exclusively on HBO.

    Directed by Alan Taylor and written by Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick, the fifth instalmentof the franchise, stars Arnold Schwarzenegger reprising his role as the eponymous, along with Jason Clarke, Emilia Clarke and Jai Courtney. The film’s plot follows soldier Kyle Reese in the war against Skynet, who is sent from the year 2029 to 1984 by John Connor, leader of the Human Resistance, to protect Connor’s mother Sarah Connor. However, once Reese goes back in time, he discovers Sarah has been raised by a reprogrammed Terminator.

    The movie’s marketing campaign across social media pages of HBO is set to ignite the imagination of moviegoers across India.     MUMBAI: Twice-elected California governor and international movie star Arnold Schwarzenegger has been named the new host of NBC’s The Celebrity Apprentice, which will return to the network for the 2016-17 season.

     

    Schwarzenegger steps into the shoes of erstwhile host Donald Trump, who, in his role as host of the seven seasons ofThe Celebrity Apprentice, helped raise more than $15 million for charity.

     

    Schwarzenegger served two terms as governor of California, managing more than 300,000 state employees and a state budget in the hundreds of billions. He has successfully invested in both real estate and sports franchises, and is known to millions globally for his starring role in the Terminator film franchise. His films, over a six-decade career, have grossed billions of dollars in worldwide box office.

     

    The Apprentice franchise is one of the most successful reality formats in television history. In The Celebrity Apprentice, business-savvy celebrity contestants work in teams and are asked to perform various tasks and win challenges, all the while employing a business model that promotes teamwork and, hopefully, ends with a financially successful outcome – all for a worthy charity. Contestants are subjected to long hours, grueling deadlines, intellectual challenges, personality clashes and intense scrutiny. Each task will end in the Boardroom, where contestants must account for their actions or risk being “fired” by the host until one remains.

     

    Previous Celebrity Apprentice winners include Joan Rivers, Piers Morgan, Bret Michaels, Trace Adkins, Arsenio Hall, John Rich and Leeza Gibbons.

    Arnold Schwarzenegger to share dais with Rajinikanth

    MUMBAI: Hollywood star Arnold Schwarzenegger arrived amidst tight security at the Chennai airport to attend the audio launch of Vikram-starrer romantic thriller titled ‘I.

     

    The audio launch will take place on 15 September evening at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, where the star of the Terminator film series will share the dais with Tamil movie superstar Rajinikanth. AR Rahman is also said to perform all the songs from the album live at the event and will be supported by dancers, who will perform wearing the actual costumes and make-up from the film.

     

    Filmed across eight countries and set to music by AR Rahman, I was directed by Shankar. The movie also stars Amy Jackson, Suresh Gopi and Upen Patel in lead roles and is expected to hit screens during Diwali. The film was produced and distributed by Venu Ravichandran under his production banner, Aascar Films.

     

    The 67-year star has a jam-packed schedule for the day. According to media reports, the actor is also scheduled to meet Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa before the launch.

     

    “Arnold arrived with his entourage this morning. He is expected to meet Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in the afternoon. His team had sent a special request for the meeting,” a source from the film’s unit told IANS.

     

    Born 30 July 1947, the Austrian-born American actor, former professional bodybuilder and the 38th Governor of California from 2003 until 2011, Schwarzenegger won the Mr. Universe title at age 20. Schwarzenegger gained fame as a Hollywood action film icon in “The Terminator” – one of his best-known movie roles.

    MUMBAI: A deal is almost set for Grammer to be playing the role of Bonaparte, an ex-mercenary who will be helping the Expendables in their mission. He had been known to be selected to play the role of shrink-turned-radio host Dr Frasier Crane; he has now switched to being the tough guy.

     

    The cast already includes Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Terry Crews, Antonio Banderas, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren and Wesley Snipes.

     

    Grammer recently worked with Stallone in Reach me. He has a new series line up with Lionsgate’s Lawrence. He is repped by UTA and Category 5’s  Brian Sher.

    Bruce Willis left ‘Expendables 3’ over $1 million-a-day fee demand

    MUMBAI: Bruce Willis has left the Expendables 3 and according to Sylvester Stallone it was because he was greedy and lazy. Stallone stunned Hollywood by tweeting “WILLIS OUT . . . HARRISON FORD IN!!!! GREAT NEWS!!!!! Been waiting years for this!!!!,” then following up with a second tweet reading “GREEDY AND LAZY . . . A SURE FORMULA FOR CAREER FAILURE.”

     

    Apparently Willis said that he would leave unless he got $4 million for four days. He was supposed to get just $3 million. Consecutively Stallone got Ford to join the cast. Willis’ reps at CCA did not wish to comment on this.

     

    Willis was recently seen in Red 2, which grossed just $80 million worldwide. This installment of The Expendables has a budget of more than $90 million and is set to release August 2014. In addition to Stallone and Ford, the cast includes Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke and Wesley Snipes.

    NEW DELHI: South Korea‘s Busan International Film Festival (BIFF is to present its films in the United States in a festival titled Busan West Film Festival. The festival will take place from 8 to 10 March is in collaboration with the Chapman University‘s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts in Orange city of California.

    Award-winning writer/director Kim Jee-woon and Hollywood icon Arnold Schwarzenegger, along with screenwriter and Dodge College alumnus Andy Knauer (MFA/Screenwriting‘06), will open the festival with a special presentation of their recent collaboration "The Last Stand" on 8 March at Marion Knott Studios on Chapman University‘s campus in Orange. Kim Jee-woon will be honoured with a special icon award and participate in a moderated discussion with Schwarzenegger.

    The Busan West lineup will feature acclaimed films from five countries: China, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore and the U.S.

    New to the festival this year is a competition for short films. Twenty short films are scheduled to screen during the festival and awards will be presented at the festival‘s Closing Night reception, 10 March. The two winning short films will be programmed at the 2013 Busan International Film Festival in October.

    Busan West presents a unique filmmaker showcase that brings select notable Asian films and filmmakers to the U.S. to create a new and unique platform for heightened recognition outside of Asia.

     

    Over the course of three days, the public is invited to experience a showcase of contemporary and classic Asian films, many selected from the Busan International Film Festival by Dodge College Professor Nam Lee, an expert in Pan-Asian film. The 2013 Busan West program features a special opening night event honoring director Kim Jee-woon as the Icon Award recipient and a martial arts cinema panel (Sunday, March 10) which will include renowned martial arts writer/director Haofeng Xu (The Grandmaster, The Sword Identity).

     

    The event marks the third venture between Chapman University‘s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts and South Korea‘s Busan International Film Festival to introduce the culture, look and feel of Asia‘s largest film festival to an American audience and celebrate the vibrant and emerging Korean and Pan-Asian cinema.

     

    Previous editions of the festival have attracted some of Korea‘s most renowned filmmakers including celebrated writer/director Bong Joon-ho (Mother, Memories of Murder, The Host), award-winning writer/director Park Chan-wook (Thirst director‘s cut), writer/director Kim Jee-woon (The Good, the Bad, the Weird), director Lee Doo-yong (Last Witness), Oh Jeom-kyun (Viva, Love), Park Jin-sung (Evil Spirit: VIY), director Kim Dong-won ("Drifting Away") and writer/director Kim Young-nam (Don‘t Look Back).

    MUMBAI: Arnold Schwarzenegger is set to star in Terminator 5.

    The 65-year-old action hero, who starred in the first three installments of the film franchise, said during promotion for his latest movie ‘The Last Stand‘ that he will star in the forthcoming film, it has been reported.

    Schwarzenegger is pleased with the way the motion picture is taking after the film‘s bosses hired some “really quality writers”.

    “They‘re writing right now Terminator 5. There have been some writers on it for the last year-and-a-half and they could not pull it off. We have told them over and over that they are going in the wrong direction, now they‘ve finally got rid of those writers and they‘ve got new really quality writers. Now they‘re going in the right direction. I think this year the script will be finished and we will be able to go into pre-production,” he observed.
