    CASBAA Singapore appoints Mark Lay as vice president

    MUMBAI: CASBAA has announced the appointment of Mark Lay to the newly created position of vice president, CASBAA Singapore.

     

    “We are excited to welcome Mark to the CASBAA family and to represent the Association in Singapore,” said CASBAA CEO Christopher Slaughter. “His thorough knowledge and understanding of Asia’s multichannel TV industry and successful track record in senior management will help CASBAA build its membership base and shape its future strategy.”

     

    Reporting directly to the CEO, Lay will promote the entire range of CASBAA’s products, services and events to relevant member companies, and ensure members’ needs and expectations are met by the Association. As VP, CASBAA Singapore, he will also maintain and expand relationships with assigned strategic and potential members and represent CASBAA in the increasingly important Singapore market.

     

    Lay gained his broadcast industry experience through previous roles in distribution and marketing with Star and as VP affiliate sales and relations at Discovery Channel Asia. He has also held director level positions at Mikoishi Studios and Acme Mobile and was most recently a Private Investor at Lay Financial in Singapore.

     

    “It’s great to be back in the pay television business and I am looking forward to reconnecting with previous colleagues and clients along with forging strong connections with new players as well,” said Lay. “Working with CASBAA is a role within the industry that is new to me but one which I am very excited to embrace.”

    MUMBAI: Menaka Menon joins Draftfcb Ulka as head strategic planning at its Bengaluru office. She has over 13 years experience in advertising and media. Her professional interests include new media, understanding youth consumer and their buying behaviour.

     

    Speaking on her appointment, vice president Dennis Koshy said, “Menaka brings valuable experience across categories to Draftfcb Ulka. Having started her career with us, she is familiar with the organisation and I am sure she will add significant value to our clients here.”

     

    An alumnus of MICA, Menaka started her career at the then FCB Ulka, as part of its Star One programme. She then moved to JWT where she spent over seven years, before moving on to assignments with Big 92.7 FM, UTV New Media and MTV.

     

    uring the course of her career, Menaka has worked on several big brands such as Amul, Knorr, Levi‘s, Kotak, Diageo and Star across Mumbai and Bangalore.

     

    On her second stint at Draftfcb Ulka, Menaka observed, “Draftfcb Ulka is known for the strategic contribution it provides to client businesses. I started my career here and I am really excited about the opportunity to come back. Bangalore office has a very good portfolio of clients and brands, and I look forward to partnering them.”

  • Dior launches watches, appoints Yana Gupta brand ambassador

    MUMBAI: Christian Dior, the name that spells seduction, creativity and femininity in luxury goods, officially launched Christian Dior watches in the financial hub of the country on 22 April. To top that, the luxury goods maker also announced that Yana Gupta, the former face of Lakme would be the Brand Ambassador or Miss Dior for India..

    LVMH Watch & Jewellery, regional MD, Ravi Thakran, unveiled the Indian range, which is in line with the global collection. The launch follows LVMH Watch & Jewellery’s promise of bringing the latest products to the Indian market at the same time and at an equal price as the global markets.

    Explaining the strategy Thakran said, “consumers in India can now enjoy the latest international watch designs. Christian Dior watches are true fashion accessories – combining creativity and quality in the form of aspects from the French couture house and all the expertise of fine Swiss watch making. We have a fair price policy for India to match international prices and in some cases we have even bettered international prices.”

    The target is female clientele looking for young, fashionable and original timekeeping products. Gupta said, “ I have admired Christian Dior for its elegance and sophistication since my early modeling days. To be chosen to represent the brand is like a dream come true.”
