    ET’s Rahul Joshi to join Network18 as group CEO news

    MUMBAI: The flow of top level talent from Bennett, Coleman & Co Ltd (BCCL) continues into the Reliance Industries’ controlled Network 18.

     

    After appointing Radio Mirchi CEO and managing director AP Parigi as Network18 group CEO in January this year, the company has now roped in Economic Times’ editorial director Rahul Joshi as the CEO of news and group editor-in-chief.

     

    A top level executive from Bennett, Coleman & Co Ltd confirmed to Indiantelevison.com that Joshi had indeed put in his papers at the company. 

     

    A source close to the development added, “Through a mail to all the employees of Network18, it was announced that Rahul Joshi will take the position of CEO news and group editor-in-chief. Since there was no one in this position earlier, there is no question of him replacing anyone. The team here is looking forward to working under his guidance.”

     

    Joshi had been serving as editorial director at Economic Times along with Rajrishi Singhal since 2004. However, after Singhal moved to the role of consulting editor in 2006, Joshi was handling the role of editorial director single handedly.

    MUMBAI: Hike messenger is beefing up its leadership team and has roped in Vidur Vyas as VP of marketing and Sumit Mehra as studio head. 

     

    While Vyas will be spearheading Hike’s marketing initiatives, brand positioning and strategic alliances; Mehra will be responsible for driving game strategy, development and production. The duo will be reporting to Hike CEO and founder Kavin Mittal.

     

    Mittal said, “I’m excited to add Vidur and Sumit to our leadership team. It’s great to see such strong leaders in the industry share our vision to bring India online. I look forward to working with them and leveraging their experience to build Hike into a world class product and a brand that is loved by millions in India.”

    ShopClues makes top talent acquisition for categories div

    MUMBAI: ShopClues has appointed Raunak Raheja and Nitin Sharma as category management directors.

     

    While Raheja’s focus at ShopClues will be on scaling up the wholesale marketplace initiative, Sharma will be helming the electronics category.

     

    Raheja will be overseeing the key properties of ShopClues including the neighbourhood store initiative and cross border trade. Heading the wholesale marketplace initiative, he will also be planning the strategic roadmap for B2B channels and driving the refurbished products supply.  

     

    ShopClues co-founder and chief business officer Radhika Aggarwal said, “At ShopClues, we are scaling up at a breakneck speed.     Raheja is an e-commerce and retail professional with over 9 years of work experience in marketplace & e-retailing models. He has diverse experience and has also worked with e-commerce companies like eBay, HomeShop18 and Ibibio Web.

    netCORE names Kalpit Jain as CEO

    MUMBAI: Digital marketing solutions company netCORE has appointed Kalpit Jain as chief executive officer, effective from August, 2015.

     

    In his new role, Kalpit will lead global operations with a special focus on business and sales, product and people development. This move is in alignment with company’s strategy of accelerating growth in India and globally. After the former CEO moved out of the company in August 2014, founder and MD Rajesh Jain was at the helm of operations as interim CEO.

    Zee TV ropes in Rohini Singh as head of commissioning

    MUMBAI: Hindi general entertainment channel (GEC) Zee TV has appointed Rohini Singh as its new head of commissioning. In her new role, she will be responsible for developing fiction content for the channel.

     

    She comes to Zee from Star Plus where she was heading the fiction content development division. She has also spearheaded several milestone projects on Indian television since 1998. 

     

    After completing her graduation in B A Hons (Political Science) from Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi and a Comprehensive Television Course from Academy 18 (A division of Television 18 Networks, Delhi), Singh was working with TV 18 and was part of many projects including Bhanwar (Sony TV) and Haadsa (Sab TV) from 1998 to 2000.

     

    She has previously also worked with many brands including BBC (Jasoos Vijay), Twenty Twenty TV Company (Kaajjal – Sabbki Aankhon Mein Basi, on Sony & Darna Mana Hai) and Cinevistaas (Dilll Mill Gayye on Star One). She then joined Star Network and handled shows on Star One (Dill Mil Gayye, Milley Jab Hum Tum, Geet- Hui Sabse Parayi amongst others.)

     

    Singh was responsible for the concept development of shows like Geet, Pratigya and Maryada. As head of Star Plus, fiction content development division, she launched shows like Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna, Pyaar Ka Dard, Veera, Arjun, Kaali, Saraswati Chandra, Meri Bhabhi, Ek Ghar Banaounga and Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon 2.

    Snapdeal appoints Adobe’s Viraj Chatterjee as VP – engineering

    MUMBAI: Snapdeal has roped in Viraj Chatterjee as vice president, engineering. In his new role, Chatterjee will lead the technology development solutions to enrich the overall seller experience on the marketplace.

     

    Recently the company launched Snapdeal Plus and Capital Assist to further enhance the ability of small and medium businesses to sell on its platform. Chatterjee will play a pivotal role in strengthening the overall seller platform and introducing newer products backed by strong technology solutions.

      

    Prior to his appointment at Snapdeal, Chatterjee spent 16 years at Adobe Systems where he most recently served as director engineering leading the Acrobat and Flash Runtime line of products. His stint with the Adobe team was focussed on product management, engineering and building powerful products across Desktop and Mobile which included the Adobe Reader and Acrobat.

    Gupta is entrusted with the responsibility to provide holistic digital solutions for all clients of LIQVD Asia in the region. Prior to this, he was in charge of the digital wing of Allied Media Corp.

    Snapdeal appoints Amitava Ghosh as vice president – engineering

    MUMBAI: Snapdeal has appointed Amitava Ghosh as vice president – engineering.

     

    In his new role, Ghosh will lead the development of intuitive technology solutions for ease of accessibility and enhanced user experience on the marketplace. 

     

    Ghosh comes with over 17 years of experience in building scalable web based products and platforms for consumer internet and enterprises.

     

    Ghosh has spent several years working for a diverse set of organizations, both in India and USA, across Internet companies, medium strength organizations and Silicon Valley start-ups.

     

    Prior to his appointment at Snapdeal, Ghosh was the chief technology officer at Taxiforsure before the company’s acquisition by OLA Cabs. Previously, he headed the India Engineering team of Tribune Digital Ventures (TDV). He has also had a decade long stint at Yahoo where he was responsible for building platforms and user experiences for listings, media verticals, communities & Social products.

     

    Ghosh will work out of the company’s technology innovation centre in Bangalore.

    MUMBAI: DDB Mudra Group’s agency RAPP India has appointed Kabir Ahmed as group director- brand communication.

     

    Ahmed joins RAPP India from Lowe, Mumbai where he was brand services director.

     

    At RAPP India, Ahmed will be managing clients across the agency’s portfolio and report to RAPP India president Venkat Mallik.

    MUMBAI: Strengthening its technological team, Network 18 has roped in Times Network’s Rajat Nigam as group chief technology officer (CTO). 

     

    Speaking to Indiantelevision.com, Nigam says, “I am excited to be in the team and my role in Network18 will be managing the technology and technical infrastructure of all Network 18 products be it television, radio or digital.”

     

    Reliance Infocomm, which is scheduled to launch Jio and 4G by December 2015, will use Nigam’s expertise for the development of that sector too.

     

    Prior to joining Network18, Nigam was senior vice president and head technology and broadcast operations at Times Network. He is an industry veteran with over 20 years of experience in the field of television, radio, sports etc.
