    Bacardi India taps Zeenah Vilcassim as marketing director

    NEW DELHI: International spirits company Bacardi India, has appointed Zeenah Vilcassim as marketing director. She will head consumer and customer marketing across the entire Bacardi portfolio of brands starting this month.

    Vilcassim will be responsible for driving synergies across marketing, commercial and finance teams to ensure campaigns are effective, impactful and deliver on business goals. She will be based out of the company’s Gurugram head office and report to Bacardi India managing director Sanjit Randhawa.

    She began her career with Bacardi four years ago as global brand director for Dewar’s Scotch whisky. During this time, she focused on growing the brand’s footprint in emerging markets and oversaw the marketing of three award winning innovations.

    Vilcassim said, “During my time as global director for Dewar’s Scotch whisky, India was – and still is – one of our most exciting markets. It is incredibly diverse, dynamic and constantly evolving. Each one of our iconic brands has an opportunity to play an authentic role in the hearts and minds of the Indian consumer. I can’t wait to get started and bring a little bit of creative rebellion into all that we do.”

    Vilcassim began her career as an economist and moved to a management consultant role in global banking at Ernst and Young. Her pivot into marketing was driven by an interest in combining data, analytics and creativity to accelerate business growth. She has held previous positions within digital analytics and content and also led the entire UK operations as managing director at Protein before joining the team at Bacardi.

    Randhawa added, “As we continue to build and grow our portfolio in the country, we are thrilled to have Vilcassim as part of the India leadership team. She has played an integral role in the Dewar’s brand’s global journey and will now be instrumental in driving the strategic direction and growth for the entire brand portfolio of Bacardi in India.     Vishal Chinchankar tapped as CEO of Madison’s Digital & Media Ultra units

    MUMBAI: Madison Media has promoted its chief digital officer Vishal Chinchankar to CEO at Madison Digital and Madison Media Ultra.

    Chinchankar has been involved in shaping the digital arm of Madison Digital since his appointment at Madison Media in 2017. In addition, he has also been given the responsibility to drive a few integrated mandates under Madison Media Ultra, the unit that handles Marico, Atomberg, amongst other businesses. He will continue to be a part of the agency’s Exco and strengthen its value proposition under his leadership.

    With over 22 years of experience in domestic and international markets, Chinchankar has worked across marketing services and business development involving both start-up and growth organisations.

    New Delhi: Music network 9X Media, which also owns SpotlampE and other digital products, has elevated marketing lead Kanan Dave to a business head role.

    As business head for SpotlampE, Dave will drive the next phase of growth, strategy and the creative development for SpotlampE. 

    An experienced industry professional with a career spanning over 15 years in the media and entertainment sector, Dave has been heading marketing at 9X Media for the past two years. In her earlier roles at UTV and Disney, she managed the music and film marketing business and worked on more than 50 movies across languages.

    Puneet Das elevated to Tata packaged beverages president India & south Asia

    NEW DELHI: Tata Consumer Products (TCP) has elevated Puneet Das as president – packaged beverages, India and south Asia. Das, who has been associated with Tata Consumer Products since 2017, was earlier senior vice president- marketing for the India beverages business.

    Das takes over from Sushant Dash, who was recently named chief executive officer for coffee chain Starbucks in India. 

    Before joining Tata Consumer Products, Das held senior marketing roles in companies such as Marico, PepsiCo, GSK Consumer. He comes with about 20 years of experience in the FMCG sector, having worked in India, Africa and other international markets.

    In a recent statement, TCP stated that Das has played a crucial role in formulating marketing strategies for Tata Tea and Tata Coffee Grands.

    K Madhavan tapped as Walt Disney India & Star India president

    New Delhi: K Madhavan has been named president, the Walt Disney Company India and Star India, effective immediately. He takes on the mantle from Uday Shankar, who stepped down in October and exited the mouse house at the end of 2020.

    The announcement was made by The Walt Disney Company chairman international operations and direct-to-consumer Rebecca Campbell early on Wednesday.

    In this role, Madhavan will drive the strategy and growth of the company in India, with responsibility for the vast Disney, Star and Hotstar businesses and operations spanning across entertainment, sports and regional channels, and direct-to-consumer. This includes oversight of channel distribution and advertising sales, as well as a thriving local content production business which currently is responsible for the creation of 18,000 hours of original content across fiction, non-fiction, sports, and movies in eight languages.

    “For the past several months, I have had the pleasure of working directly with KM and have seen first-hand how he has adeptly managed our India business, which has been and will continue to be critical to our global and regional strategy,” said Campbell. “A skilled leader with an extensive background in media, KM has taken our vast Star networks and local content production businesses to new heights despite continued industry evolution and significant challenges due to the pandemic.”   

    “I am very proud to have the opportunity to lead the incredibly talented and passionate team we have in India, and to further build upon our strong portfolio of channels and high-quality programming that is a favourite with viewers across the region,” said Madhavan. “We have an exciting journey ahead of us.     Since 2019, Madhavan served as country manager of Star & Disney India, overseeing the media conglomerate’s television and studios business in India. He has been responsible for driving the growth of the business, focusing on innovation, and creating compelling content for consumers. 

    Madhavan joined Star India in 2009 as its south head. Under his leadership, the company built a thriving regional entertainment portfolio. Previously, he was the driving force behind Asianet’s growth as the undisputed leader in Malayalam with more than 50 per cent of market share, serving as MD and CEO in 2000-2008. Madhavan’s vision for the regional language network led the company to set benchmarks in quality programming in south India. Prior to his media career, he was in the banking and corporate finance sector. 

    Madhavan currently serves as president of the Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF) and as chairman of the National Committee of Media & Entertainment CII (Confederation of Indian Industry).

    Chandrasekar Radhakrishnan is Emaar Group’s new head of marketing

    NEW DELHI: UAE-based real estate developer Emaar Group has appointed Chandrasekar Radhakrishnan as its new head of marketing. He joins Emaar this month after stints with leading global FMCG and telecom players for over two decades.

    Radhakrishnan, known informally as Chandru, will be responsible for the strategic marketing and communications for Emaar across the group, including Emaar Properties, Emaar Development, Emaar Malls, Emaar Hospitality, Emaar Entertainment and Emaar Leisure.

    Emaar Properties founder Mohamed Alabbar said, “Chandru is a global marketer with a proven track record of building reputable brands and a deep understanding of the digital landscape. He will lead the centralised group marketing team and spearhead the transformation of marketing to drive equity and growth for the organisation globally, in today’s digitally connected world.”

    With a combination of international and domestic experience, Radhakrishnan will also be responsible for driving marketing effectiveness and efficiency, while strengthening Emaar’s brand presence globally.

    Prior to his new role, the Columbia Business School graduate was with Coca-Cola India as vice president – strategy & insights. Across his various roles at consumer goods majors like Nestlè, Airtel, Marico and Britannia, he has led domestic and global brand teams, built digital competencies, driven creative excellence and strengthened external partnerships.

    NEW DELHI: Home interiors brand HomeLane has elevated Tanuj Choudhry to co-founder and chief operating officer. In his new role, Choudhry will be responsible for managing the brand’s overall business operations and driving long term growth strategy. The announcement was made by Srikanth Iyer, co-founder and CEO of HomeLane, in an internal email to employees.

    "He (Choudhry) joined us in our early days and has been instrumental in building HomeLane into what it is today. Our revenues have grown five-fold in the last 4 years and he deserves most of the credit for that. As we double-down on profitability without losing sight of growth, Tanuj's experience as a leader and organization builder will be critical. I am extremely pleased to have him as a co-founder,” said Iyer.

    Choudhry joined HomeLane in 2015 as vice president – growth, and launched and led HomeLane’s franchise model and design partner program to help scale the business while remaining asset-light. He also helped build out the brand’s product & tech function. In 2016, he transitioned to the role of chief business officer in which he was responsible for marketing and sales, last mile delivery and category. Now, as the chief operating officer, Choudhry will be additionally responsible for taking HomeLane to profitability by end of this fiscal, and growing the business thereon.

    New Delhi: Lifestyle consumer electronics brand boAt has appointed Damandeep Singh Soni as new VP – growth. He will be responsible to drive the company’s function to make it the largest D2C company in India. He announced the development on his LinkedIn.

    Prior to this, Soni was working as a senior advisor – marketing and growth at multiple startups like Whitehat Jr, Limeroad, Editorji, Snapchat and others to help their business grow, develop marketing strategies, and drive monetization strategies and revenue growth.

    With over 20 years of experience, Soni has had an illustrious career. He was the India head for Line, a chat app, between 2014 and 2016. Later, he joined Mobikwik as a CMO and growth head for a period of two years. Soni also had a brief stint with Milkbasket as VP – marketing. He also started a few ventures of his own. Some of the other brands that he worked at includes Infosys, Wecash, and Nokia.

    boAt is one of the first digitally native brands to record a revenue of Rs 500 crore in FY19-20. It was started in 2016 with a target audience of youth interested in fashionable consumer electronics. The product range has expanded to include an extensive catalog of headphones, earphones, wearable, speakers, travel chargers, and premium cables.

In his new role at Faber-Castell, Gadodia would be responsible for Finance, Accounts, and Commercial & IT verticals across India. Before joining Faber-Castell, he was associated for a short stint with Ernst & Young as Consultant. Prior to that he has had successful stints as CFO at Forum Homes and A.P. Moller – Maersk Group in India. He draws around 29 years of extensive experience.
