    Gozoop appoints Yash Bendkhale as creative director

    Mumbai Digital-first agency Gozoop has announced the appointment of Yash Bendkhale as creative director. 

    He will be heading the art team & co-leading the production team with creative director Aadheeraj Krishna and will report to VP of national operations Premkumar Iyer, said the company.

    “Yash has deep understanding of integrated communication with his mainline and digital experience. We welcome Yash to the team and look forward to championing conversations that leave an impact in the mind of people,” said Gozoop CEO and co-founder Ahmed Aftab Naqvi.

    Bendkhale, who has 12 years of industry experience, was last associated with What’s Your Problem (WYP). He was instrumental in conceptualising various brand campaigns during his over two-year stint at the agency.

    Wavemaker bolsters leadership team with two new appointments

    Mumbai: Wavemaker has announced the appointment of Shipra Roy as its new global chief people, inclusion and culture officer and Helen Price as global chief investment officer. Both will be based in London and join CEO Toby Jenner’s global leadership team, said the company.

    Roy joins Wavemaker from a position as chief talent officer with McCann UK and Europe where her main responsibilities included setting the people strategy and working on key initiatives with a focus on DE&I, leadership development and succession planning. Previously, she worked at VMLY&R where she co-led the talent function globally with responsibility for EMEA, APAC, and key WPP global clients. In her new role, she will oversee all aspects of the people function in the organisation. She replaces James Edgar who left the agency in August.

    Price joins Wavemaker from IPG Mediabrands where she was head of global accountability and investment. She has over 20 years of experience in the media industry with a focus on media trading and investment and has a strong track record in building and developing innovative media value solutions which balance client savings and commercial opportunities. At Wavemaker, her focus will be on creating value for clients and commercial opportunities for the agency. She replaces Keith Tiley who will be retiring at the end of the year.

    In addition, Wavemaker has promoted global managing partner Simon Broderick to global head of investment.

    Vipul Nagar appointed as Colors Gujarati business head

    Mumbai: Viacom18 has announced the appointment of Vipul Nagar as business head for Colors Gujarati.

    In his new role, Nagar will be responsible for managing the overall business and operations for Colors Gujarati and Colors Gujarati Cinema and report to Viacom18 head of regional entertainment (Bangla, Odia, Tamil and Gujarati clusters) Rajesh Iyer, said the company in a statement on Wednesday.

    Nagar comes with over two decades of industry experience, bringing in extensive knowledge and understanding of the Gujarati content ecosystem, having led programming for Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot at Radio Mirchi. In his most recent role, he was associated with Mirchi Brewery as senior vice president and national solutions director.

    “Gujarat has a vibrant culture which is reflected in the variety of its entertainment landscape. The market has, of late, demonstrated an increasing appetite for homegrown content in the broadcast entertainment space and this provides us with a significant opportunity,” said Rajesh Iyer. “As we look to build our presence amidst both our viewers and advertisers, with Vipul’s rich experience across the media and entertainment value chain, he is well poised to tap into the full potential of the market.”

    In his previous role, Nagar has led teams at Radio Mirchi, Dcube and EAI Education. He has been conferred with the prestigious New York Radio Award, Asia Consumer Engagement Forum Award, India Radio Forum Award, and Golden Mikes for his work. He was also awarded with Safdar Hashmi National Award from UP Sangeet Natak Academy for his contribution in theatre.

    Government names K Rajaram as new telecom secretary

    Mumbai: The central government has appointed K Rajaram as the new telecom secretary, according to a report by Economic Times.

    Rajaram is a Tamil Nadu cadre 1989-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, currently working as an additional secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA). He takes over the role of telecom secretary as his predecessor Anshu Prakash retires on 30 September.

    His appointment has been announced just a week after the government declared several relief measures for the telecom sector, including steps to convert the government’s dues to telcos as equity over time in a bid to ensure a three-private player telecom market.

    Vora joins from HDFC Life, where he worked as senior marketing manager – digital marketing for more than three years.

    A management graduate from the University of Mumbai, Vora is a digital advertising professional with eight years of digital and three years of mainline media and marketing experience.

    He was previously associated with companies like DDB Mudra as partner – digital and Graphene Media as group head – offline and digital. He has also worked with Starcom Media and Madison Media in the past.

    Amish Sabharwal named senior ECD of Havas Creative Group India

    Mumbai: Havas Creative Group India on Tuesday announced the appointment of Amish Sabharwal as senior executive creative director and creative head of digital experience, effective immediately. He will be based in Gurgaon and will report to Havas Creative Group India national creative director Ravinder Siwach.

    In his new role, Sabharwal will lead the Havas integrated creative digital team with a renewed focus on the digital-first agenda of Reckitt. In addition, he will manage the mandates of many other key brands and clients. He will work closely with the teams to further build integrated strategies and marketing campaigns, which reflects the global vision of creating Meaningful Brands, the agency said in a statement. 

    With over 13 years of work experience, Sabharwal has several national and international awards to his name. He has worked with some of the leading agencies such as JWT, McCann, Dentsu Impact and Grey, during his career. He brings a rare combination of traditional brand-building skills with native digital thinking as he has led both digital and traditional offerings in his previous stint at Grey Delhi.

    “Amish brings with him a vast experience of some of the most well-known brands and categories. I believe his unique approach will bring in a breath of fresh air to the creative landscape and fuel our promise of meaningful storytelling further,” said Havas Group India chairman & chief creative officer Bobby Pawar.

    Mumbai: udChalo, a consumer tech company focusing on Indian defence personnel and their dependents, has announced the appointment of Abani Kant Jha as chief financial officer.

    In his role, Jha will contribute to strategy formulation in alignment with the organisation’s long-term objectives and goals, planning and management of company resources to maximise ROI, identifying cost-saving projects and leading the treasury of the organisation for effective deployment of funds, said the company in a statement.

    He will lead a team of tax experts, consultants, and the finance team at udChalo and play a key role in bringing investments for the next growth phase of the organisation, it added.

    PR Satheesh elevated as CEO of MMTV

    Mumbai: Malayala Manorama Television (MMTV) has elevated PR Satheesh to the role of chief executive officer. He was previously the chief operating officer and has been associated with the media organisation since July 2014.

    MMTV is a Malayalam news and infotainment channel catering to audiences in Kerala. 

    An alumnus of Guru Nanak College Madras, Satheesh is a media veteran with three decades of experience under his belt across print, TV, digital/mobile, and shopper marketing. He has been associated with publications such as Deccan Chronicle and The Asian Age, and broadcasters like Zee Telefilms and Zee Sports. 

    He has also had stints at Barterbiz, TAG Media, and TELiBrahma. He has worked in roles across the country including Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, and Kochi.

    Facebook India onboards Rajiv Aggarwal as director of public policy

    Mumbai: Facebook India on Monday announced the appointment of Rajiv Aggarwal, a former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, as director of public policy. He succeeds Ankhi Das, who quit in October last year.

    In this role, Aggarwal will lead policy development initiatives for the company that covers user safety, data protection & privacy, inclusion, and internet governance, Facebook said in a statement.

    He will report to Facebook India VP and MD Ajit Mohan and will be part of the India leadership team, it added.

    “We realise we are deeply immersed in the fabric of India and we have the opportunity to help build a more inclusive and safe internet that benefits everyone in the country,” Mohan said in a statement. “I am thrilled that Rajiv is joining us to lead the public policy team. With his expertise and experience, Rajiv will help further our mission to build transparency, accountability, empowered and safe communities, all of which we recognise as our responsibility,” he added.

    Aggarwal joins the social media giant from Uber where he was serving as the head of public policy for India and South Asia markets for nearly two years.

    He comes with over 26 years of experience as an IAS officer, working from grassroots to the global level, including as a district magistrate in nine districts across the state of Uttar Pradesh. 

    During his tenure as an administrative officer, he steered India’s first national policy on intellectual property rights (IPRs) as joint secretary in the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (m/o commerce) and was instrumental in the digital transformation of India’s IP offices, said the statement.

    He has been closely associated with the India-US bilateral trade forum, besides being the country’s lead negotiator on IPRs with other nations, it added.

    Mumbai: Study abroad platform Leverage Edu has brought on board Ambesh Tiwari as chief marketing officer. In this new role, Tiwari will lead marketing, branding, growth, and institutional sales for the company.

    The development comes when leverage Edu is rolling out aggressive expansion plans and strengthening its foothold in the global market, primarily the UK and Europe. “We are very confident that Tiwari will lead Leverage Edu and successfully establish our place both nationally and internationally in the growing ed-tech ecosystem,” said Leverage Edu founder and CEO Akshay Chaturvedi on the new appointment. 
    Prior to joining Leverage Edu, Tiwari was associated with Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) where he was director-digital alliances and partnerships. At ZEEL, he was also part of the office of the president- content and international markets, and executive assistant to chief executive officer, domestic broadcast business.

    Previously, Tiwari worked with Viacom18 Media where he led the consumer research for the corporate strategy team. His other stints include companies like Star India and Quizcraft Events.
