    Puma India appoints Smita Balram as head of corporate communications

    Mumbai: Global sports brand Puma has appointed Smita Balram as head of corporate communications for the India business. 

    In her new role, Balram will further build Puma’s communication strategy and efforts while driving the PR narrative for the brand, said the statement.

    “Smita brings with her a wealth of rich and diverse experience in the field of media,” said Puma India and Southeast Asia managing director Abhishek Ganguly. “Her creative vision and strategic bent of mind coupled with her strong background in business and lifestyle journalism will add a fresh perspective to Puma India’s brand story.”

    Balram comes with over 16 years of deep and extensive experience across print and broadcast journalism. In her previous role, she was associated with The Economic Times, where she covered the retail eco-system and tracked multinationals and large Indian conglomerates. In the past, she has contributed to prominent media houses such as TV Today Network, Deccan Chronicle Holdings Ltd, and Deccan Herald where she primarily reported on fashion and lifestyle.

    “As a former journalist with experience in tracking lifestyle consumption, Puma is the perfect brand fit for me with its narrative around fashion and sports,” said Balram. “The team has laid a strong foundation for the company in India which I hope to build on and deliver on our business objectives.     Affle’s Maas platform bolsters leadership team with two key appointments

    Mumbai: Affle’s Maas, the unified mobile user acquisition platform, has bolstered its leadership team with the appointment of Sushant Tomar as senior director – India and Sharadh Manian as director of supply partnerships.

    Tomar will lead the expansion of Maas platform in India and help drive business growth for advertisers and Manian will lead global supply partnerships and drive strategic partnerships for Mass, said the company in a statement.

In his last stint at M&C Saatchi Performance as country director, he played a key role in setting up and scaling the India business. “Digital advertising in India is at an exciting phase with strong tailwinds encouraging the app marketers to opt for a diverse mix of channels and consumer touchpoints to engage with their users. I look forward to onboarding new partners while growing the business with our existing partners,” said Tomar on his new role.

    Manian comes with over 14 years of experience across SVG Media – A dentsu Aegis Network company, Bertelsmann, and HT Media amongst others. In his last stint at SVG Media – dentsu as director of business development, he was responsible for managing scaled-up global supply partnerships in programmatic and performance marketing. “With an unprecedented surge in digital adoption across the globe, I can’t imagine a more exciting time to join the Maas team. I look forward to partnering with some of the leading in-app and digital advertising ecosystem players to drive business growth through new strategic initiatives, in India and beyond,” stated Manian.

    Network18 Digital appoints new leadership team for general news, branded content business

    Mumbai: Network18 has announced key appointments for its digital arm – Network18 Digital. According to a statement, the media company is putting in place an experienced team for branded content vertical with strategic additions at both national and regional levels.

    Shobit Bhargava has joined Network18 Digital as national sales head for general news cluster. Bhargava has earlier worked with prominent brands including Times Group, Vodafone, ICICI Bank, Sify, and ITC. At Times Group, he was instrumental in turning around the technology vertical, making it the fastest-growing vertical fuelled by ‘branded content.’

    He will report to Network18 Digital chief operating officer for branded content, revenue management S Shivakumar.

    Sonali Melmane has been appointed as the regional head (West). With over 13 years of experience, she has worked with companies like Star Sports, Times of India, and Standard Chartered Bank. In her previous role with Star Sports, she was responsible for sales and brand solutions across various sporting events like cricket, domestic leagues, and international sports.

    Gunjan Mann has been roped in as the regional head (North). She has been a media marketing professional with over 16 years of experience spread across publishers and agencies. She started her career with experiential marketing and over the years has transitioned into selling space and IPs. She has worked in organisations like Times of India, GroupM, DDB Mudra, and exchange4media.

    Sasi Venkatesh has joined as the regional head (South). With over two decades of experience, Venkatesh is an accomplished sales and marketing professional. Till recently, he was leading the ad solutions business for The Times of India, Bangalore managing key business verticals such as e-business, retail, automobiles, and interior decor. Prior to his stint with ToI, he had worked with organizations like Flipkart Ads, UFO Digital Cinema, and Radio Mirchi.

    All the regional heads will report to Bhargava, said the company in a statement.

    Aneesha Ranjan, who has been leading the North region has been moved to a central strategy role, wherein she will directly work with Shivakumar.

    “Branded content has emerged as a strong focus area for us. In the last few months, we have seen this vertical grow rapidly,” said S Shivakumar. “Keeping the future potential in mind, we are putting in place an experienced leadership team across regions.     Nikunj Garg appointed as editor of Mirror Now

    Mumbai: Times Network on Thursday announced the appointment of Nikunj Garg as editor of Mirror Now. He will report to Times Network managing director and chief executive officer MK Anand.  

    Garg will lead the editorial mandate for Mirror Now and closely work with the channel’s business and leadership teams to drive the channel’s growth agenda, besides continuing his role as overall head of input and news-gathering at Times Network, said the statement.

    With a broadcast journalism career spanning two decades, “Nikunj brings sharp insights, political intelligence, judgement, and accuracy in his reportage,” it added.

    “Nikunj has been one of our key assets and has significantly contributed to Times Now’s leadership through his action-oriented news reportage,” said MK Anand. “I am confident that Nikunj’s in-depth knowledge, expertise, and experience will help the channel’s growth plans in serving its mission, ‘You First’.”

    Garg has been associated with Times Network for over a decade, covering national political and international high-profile stories for Times Now. He is known for investigating and breaking powerful stories including Bofors’s alleged middleman, Ottavio Quatorocchi’s arrest in Argentina, arrest of an Indian diplomat in Pakistan for spying charges in 2010, revealing the identity of lone surviving terrorist of Mumbai 26/11 as Ajmal Kasab and confirming his arrest, IPL match-fixing scandal in 2013, breaking important government decisions on Covid-19 pandemic and government’s action on former CBI director Alok Verma amongst others.

    CredAvenue names Niren Yadav as communications and PR head

    Mumbai: Debt markets platform CredAvenue on Thursday announced the appointment of Niren Yadav as head of communications and public relations.

    Yadav will report to CMO Karanpreet Bindra and work closely with the founder/CEO and leadership team. He will be based out of the firm’s Bengaluru office, which will also double up as the upcoming technology hub and marketing HQ of CredAvenue, said the company in a statement.

    In his new role, Yadav will play an instrumental role in setting up and leading the corporate and integrated communications vertical and build the profile of the company in line with the firm’s vision, values, and brand story, it added.

    Sharma brings with him more than 35 years of rich corporate work experience having led large teams, for global and national brands of repute. He has strengthened businesses and brands across diverse sectors like FMEG, ECM, lighting and consumer durables, which saw accelerated industry-leading growth in both revenues and profits.  

    Prior to joining Polycab India, he was with Panasonic Life Solutions India as managing director for the electricals arm.

    Airtel brings in Rajiv Sharma as head of investor relations

    Mumbai: Bharti Airtel Ltd (Airtel) has brought Rajiv Sharma on board as head of investor relations, effective 1 October. He takes over from Komal Sharan, who is moving to a new role within the Bharti group.

    In his new role, Sharma will report to Airtel India and South Asia chief financial officer Badal Bagri. He will be responsible for ensuring that the telecom company is appropriately represented with investors, lenders, equity partners, and financial institutions.

    Welcoming Sharma on board, Airtel India and South Asia MD & CEO Gopal Vittal said, “I am confident his rich experience and deep understanding of the telecom industry will add immense value to our engagement with the investor and financial community.     A media specialist with experience of over two decades in the creative and business side of the entertainment industry, Guliani will be closely working with Lionsgate South Asia and networks-emerging markets Asia managing director Rohit Jain, said the company in a statement.
