    Disney+Hotstar appoints Shalini Poddar as EVP & head of ad sales

    Mumbai: Disney+ Hotstar has appointed Shalini Poddar as executive vice president and head of ad sales. Poddar replaced Gulshan Verma who had quit the streaming service in July to join Jio Ads as chief executive officer.

    At Disney+Hotstar, Poddar will lead ad sales revenue and strategy for the service in India and lead a team of 140 across all aspects of the ads business from business planning, sales, sales strategy including pricing and format, revenue management, operations, data partnerships, programmatic, brand lab, measurement/RoI and customer marketing.

    She was previously associated with Google as head of business development, Google Play Apps, India, Southeast Asia and Australia. She had joined Google in March 2016 as industry manager for telecom, gaming and payments. In a career spanning 17 years, she has had stints at Accenture Management Consulting and Kotak Mahindra Bank.

    She completed her graduation from Delhi University and is an alumnus of Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta.

    Panasonic India names Fumiyasu Fujimori as divisional director, consumer sales

    Mumbai: Tech major Panasonic India on Monday announced the appointment of Fumiyasu Fujimori as divisional director, consumer sales division. He will be based out of Panasonic India headquarters in Gurgaon.

    Fujimori joined the company in 1995 in Osaka, Japan. In his career spanning 26 years, he has worked in various international markets such as China, Singapore and Thailand overseeing strategy planning, business development, and marketing communications across business divisions of Panasonic. 

    In his previous role, Fujimori was based in Japan, where he was leading the global marketing efforts for Panasonic’s Imaging Business Unit (Lumix, digital cameras).

    “It is an important time for Panasonic India as we strengthen our presence across consumer appliances and smart living solutions in India,” said Panasonic India CEO Manish Sharma. “Fujimori’s rich experience of working with Panasonic across many markets will certainly contribute to the growth of our business here in India.”

    FlexC appoints Anantha Krishnan as chief talent solutions officer

    Mumbai: AI-Powered talent marketplace FlexC has appointed Anantha Krishnan as its new chief talent solutions officer. In this role, he will be looking after talent solutions and end-to-end mobilising of resources.  

    Previously, Krishnan was associated with Larsen & Toubro Infotech (LTI) as an associate director, where he was leading the people supply chain (PSC) with various business and technology units. He has more than two decades of rich and versatile experience in operating talent solutions, having worked with companies like Samsung and Deccanet.

    During his stint in LTI, Krishnan also took up the additional role of revenue partner for the consumer, media & entertainment and technology vertical, contributing to threefold revenue growth of the unit in a span of about three years, said the company in a statement. 

    Before this, he led the product of Integrated Automated Test Engine for Samsung’s Soft switch lab and launched the verification utility for SKT (South Korea Telecom) network.

    CNN International announces key editorial hires in Asia-Pacific

    Mumbai: CNN International has announced four new editorial hires at its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong, with the appointment of two new directors of coverage and two new senior news editors.

    Sarita Harilela has been appointed director of coverage, responsible for news coverage from the Asia-Pacific region, as well as leading the network’s global coverage for key parts of the day. She has been with CNN International for 17 years, most recently as an executive producer based in Hong Kong, responsible for feature shows and programming. Harilela has been involved in all major news stories from the APAC region over the last decade including the pandemic, the Hong Kong protests, Typhoon Haiyan and the 2011 Japan earthquake and tsunami.

    Nicola Careem has also been appointed director of coverage. She joins CNN after 19 years with the BBC covering conflicts in Syria, Iraq, Yemen, and Afghanistan. She was most recently the South Asia bureau chief based in New Delhi overseeing a team of journalists working across digital, television and radio.

    Irene Nasser joins the APAC team as a senior news editor. She has spent the last five years with Al Jazeera English in Doha handling breaking news, planning coverage and overseeing teams in the field. Prior to that she worked as a field producer based in Jerusalem working on both news and documentaries.

    Alex Stambaugh has accepted a new role as a senior news editor.  She has been with CNN for five years, most recently as a senior content producer for CNN’s International Newsource which serves more than 1300 affiliates in the U.S. and around the world. She has also produced stories from the field including the Hong Kong protests, the Trump-Kim summits in Vietnam and Singapore and the Thai cave rescue.

    Nandita Sinha to take charge as new Myntra CEO

    Mumbai: Online fashion retailer Myntra has announced the appointment of Nandita Sinha as chief executive officer, effective 1 January 2022. Sinha will join Myntra from group company Flipkart, where, as vice president of customer growth and marketing, she is currently leading the overall charter for marketing.

    As a seasoned leader in the consumer internet space, Sinha has deep expertise in leading businesses and driving tech-pivoted growth and innovation. During her nearly eight-year stint at Flipkart, she has worked across multiple roles and categories, including beauty & personal care, books and general merchandise, home and furniture and has built a strong organisation, grooming several future leaders with her exemplary people skills, said the company in a statement.

    Sinha joined Flipkart in August 2013 after stints in Hindustan Unilever Ltd and Britannia Industries Ltd. Before joining Flipkart, she was the co-founder at MyBabyCart.com. She holds an MBA in marketing and strategy from FMS Delhi and is a BTech Graduate from IIT BHU.

    V-Mart Retail appoints Aakash Moondhra as chairman

    Mumbai: Retail store chain V-Mart Retail Ltd has announced the appointment of Aakash Moondhra as chairman of the company. The company also announced a strategic change in its leadership structure, with the role of chairman and managing director now being split and Moondhra (independent director) being designated as chairman, while Lalit Agarwal would continue in his role as managing director.

    Moondhra is PayU’s global CFO and continues to remain an independent director on the board of VMart. “I am thankful to the Board for posing the confidence in me and I will try my best to contribute in making VMart an even better organisation than it already is and I look forward to this exciting journey together with the fellow board members,” Moondhra said on his appointment. “The purpose behind this role separation is not merely with related compliance; rather, it is to ensure an even better and balanced governance structure and effective guidance to the management.”

    A vastly experienced professional in creative and business processes in commercial, television and feature film production, Kothari has previously worked with media companies like Big Magic, Viniyard Films, Shashi Sumeet Productions, Endemol among others. She has been instrumental in revamping the programming of the channels as per the audience demand.
