    Games24x7 onboards Rajat Bansal as chief technology officer

    Mumbai: Amazon Lockers’ former head of engineering Rajat Bansal has joined online gaming company Games24x7 as chief technology officer (CTO).

    A key addition to the company’s leadership team, Bansal will be responsible for outlining and implementing the company’s technological vision and ensuring that the technological resources are aligned with the business needs, said the company in a statement.

    He will be spearheading technology and will be responsible for delivering creative strategies to maximise tech innovation and provide an intuitive gaming experience to players, it added.

    “Rajat will bolster our already market-leading technology infrastructure to accelerate growth and innovation at Games24x7. We are delighted to welcome such a remarkable leader amongst us,” said Games24x7 co-founders and CEOs  Trivikraman Thampy and Bhavin Pandya in a joint statement.

    With an enriching experience of over two decades, Bansal has an illustrious track record in the technology industry. In his tenure at Amazon, he served in the Amazon Prime Video team before joining the leadership team for Amazon Lockers. Prior to Amazon, he served at Naukri.com as EVP and Hike messenger as CTO.

Corporates included leadership roles with global mandates for IBM, Intel, Accenture, Toshiba, Birlasoft, LG & QuEST Global. At the core of the experience with start-ups, was partnering with passionate founders to help them succeed in their industry and custom stage of organizational maturity and market readiness. Some of these were – Ninestars (Media-tech and Venture Builder), MarkNetwork LLC (in BlockChain & Crytocurrency), Mastree (Edu-Tech), Farmveda, ReachLawyer, as well as Futuryze.

    Prior to DFAN, Varlani led marketing, communications and CSR at Futuryze Digital, a product engineering company with the spirit of a start-up studio. She has worked across domains, spanning impact-tech, agri-tech, fin-tech, edu-tech, e-commerce, B2C retail, data analytics, SaaS.

    Varlani is an alumni of Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM) and is a triple post graduate, in the fields of marketing, PR and advertising.

    Disney+ Hotstar appoints Parita Razdan as head of growth strategy and Ops

    Mumbai: Disney+ Hotstar has appointed Parita Razdan as head of growth strategy and Ops. She begins her new role in December.

    She was previously vice president, pricing and customer intelligence at Star TV Network for three years. Prior to joining Star India, Razdan was at Viacom18 since March 2015 and quit as vice president, head of corporate analytics and data. She has 18 years of experience out of which almost eight years were spent as a consultant for ZS Associates. She also had a three-year stint at BizInsights.

    Razdan had completed her Master’s in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University and her Bachelor’s in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Gujarat University.

    HBO Max India onboards Arjun Nohwar as country GM

    Mumbai: WarnerMedia-owned streaming service platform HBO Max has brought Arjun Nohwar on board as country general manager (GM) for India.

    Nohwar was last associated with Uber as APAC director and regional GM. He led Uber’s SaaS business across the Asia Pacific region, targeting companies as well as consumers directly. “The last five and a half years at #Uber have been a thrilling ride, to say the least. Building out Uber for Business across the APAC region, with the help of a brilliant team (you all know who you are!), was a privilege I’ll always be grateful for,” Nohwar said in a LinkedIn post on Monday.

    “For my next adventure, I’m delighted to share that I have joined #WarnerMedia as the Country GM for #HBOMax in India,” he further said.

    Prior to Uber, he was part of the distinguished TAS cadre at the Tata Group for a decade where he worked in sales, operations and consulting roles across a variety of tech and non-tech industries.

    Nohwar is on the advisory board of AMBA, a social enterprise that works to solve for alternate education and employment solutions to empower the intellectually challenged. In 2021, he received IIT Kharagpur’s Young Alumni Achievers Award.

    Meanwhile, WarnerMedia had announced that HBO Max will be available in six European countries in October and 14 additional territories next year, without disclosing India launch plans. It is currently available in the US, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

    The video streaming service had appointed SonyLIV’s Sugata Mukherjee as head of content for India in early November.

    Viacom18 appoints Siddharth Sharma as EVP – sports

    Mumbai: Viacom18 has appointed Siddharth Sharma as executive vice president (EVP) – sports.

    Previously, Sharma was with The Walt Disney Company-owned Star Sports network as senior vice president. He joined Star Sports as AVP in 2013 and was elevated to the position of vice president – head of Kabaddi (content and production) in 2015. “As I end my 8.5 years journey at Star Sports, I reflect with humility and thank my mentors, co-conspirators and team members who have massively contributed in making my work look good,” Sharma wrote in a LinkedIn post.

    Prior to Star Network, Sharma worked with ABP News as sports editor for almost 11 years. His past stints also include Zee News.

    Viacom18 is looking to expand its presence in the sports broadcasting segment. The media and entertainment network recently announced a multi-year partnership with The National Basketball Association (NBA) to deliver live NBA games and programming to fans in India across television and over-the-top streaming.

    Rajendra Gupta joins Rediffusion as chief growth officer

    Mumbai: Rediffusion has announced the appointment of Rajendra Gupta as chief growth officer, based at its corporate office here.

    An engineer from BHU-IT and an MBA from FMS Delhi, Gupta has been in advertising, industrial solutioning and telecom for well over 35 years. This will be his second stint at Rediffusion. He earlier worked at Rediffusion Delhi and Mumbai from 1994 to 2002. “Rediffusion is my home. I have had some of my biggest professional successes and victories here. I hope that track record remains intact and unblemished in this innings too,” said Gupta.

    Gupta will be a group resource with growth and business development responsibilities across Rediffusion, Everest, Rediffusion Healthcare, Rediffusion Direct (recently rechristened Rediffusion FutureTech), Rediffusion SmartMedia, Mogae Media and the Indian Institute of Human Brands (IIHB), said the agency in a statement.

    Gupta had worked at Dunlop and Wipro before joining Rediffusion in the mid-’90s. He was seconded to Bharti twice by Rediffusion – first to Airtel Delhi and then to Bharti Madhya Pradesh to work as an expert implant in then growing, new company. He has also worked in telecom with Reliance for over a decade.

    In his earlier tenure at Rediffusion, Gupta was instrumental in bringing the coveted Bharti group business to the agency. He was part of the team that launched Airtel in 1995. During his previous stint, Rajendra led successful pitches to bring in Casio, Sony, Panasonic, Canon, Atlas cycles, Singer sewing machines, BPL, and many more accounts to the agency, said the statement.

    “Rajendra is special. He is also Rediffusion’s lucky mascot for new business and new horizons. He combines the aggressiveness of a good salesman with a very good understanding of technology. And over the years he has become excellent advertising professional. Such a combination of virtues and talent is rare,” stated Rediffusion managing director Sandeep Goyal.

    Mumbai: Viacom18 has appointed Mandar Naik as director – revenue strategy and planning. He joined the company in November.

    Naik was previously associated with Sony Pictures Networks India since March 2016 and quit as senior manager – strategic planning and research. He has also had stints at Star India, Ipsos and Nielsen India. A strategy planning manager with a demonstrated history of working in the broadcast media industry, his expertise lies in the areas of analytics, sales planning, revenue strategy, market intelligence, media research, market research and marketing.

    He completed his MBA in marketing from N. L. Dalmia Institute of Management.

    Amazon ropes in Kelly Day to lead international streaming business

    Mumbai: Amazon has appointed Kelly Day in a newly created role as vice president, Prime Video international. She will oversee streaming operations outside the US and report to Prime Video and Amazon Studios senior vice president Mike Hopkins.

    She will begin her new role in January 2022.

    Day was previously at ViacomCBS leading international streaming services and led the global rollout of their premium subscription video-on-demand service Paramount+ in 2021 and the international expansion of their free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) service Pluto TV.

    Mumbai: London-based dentsu International has announced the appointment of Alex Hesz as global chief strategy officer. Partnering with global CEO Wendy Clark and the dentsu international executive team, Hesz will shape and define the strategy, priorities, and long-term direction of dentsu international, aligned to dentsu Group’s strategy.

    Hesz will spearhead dentsu International’s go-to-market strategy partnering across the business to define integrated, human-centric, world-class products, services and solutions to drive growth for clients. He will join the dentsu in 2022, the agency said.

    Hesz joins dentsu from DDB Worldwide where he has been global CSO since June 2020 and group CSO of adam&eveDDB. His clients included Google, Samsung, Unilever, Mars, Lloyds Banking Group, BlackRock, and Facebook (Meta).
