    Joginder Rana named as CASHe vice chairman & MD

    Mumbai: AI-driven financial wellness platform CASHe is prepping up for its next phase of growth with a series of key leadership appointments. To this effect, the company has appointed Joginder Rana as the vice-chairman and managing director, Dhruv Jain as chief executive officer, while the incumbent chief technology officer, Yashoraj Tyagi, has been appointed as the company’s first chief business officer.
     
    “The key leadership appointments will play a crucial role in driving the company’s expansion plans. The new team will work closely with Joginder Rana to help CASHe realise its 3.0 vision of becoming the go-to financial platform for the millennial and Gen Z cohort,” the company said in a statement on Friday.

    “We have been ramping up our efforts to piece together a best-in-class team to demystify credit and credit rating systems thereby making financial inclusion possible to all. The company is now in a position to make a better life for everyone by expanding its financial products to cover the entire gamut of needs of its customers,” stated CASHe founder-chairman Raman Kumar. “Joginder, Dhruv, and Yashoraj supported by a young and talented team of professionals will catapult CASHe into becoming the financial platform of choice for all,” he added.

    Rana, a veteran banker, brings in over three decades of global and domestic experience in the banking & ITES industry essentially covering wholesale, retail, rural & FI banking. His previous stint was the MD of Bank of Baroda Global Shared Services, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bank of Baroda. He has also held senior management positions in leading banks such as RBL Bank, and Citigroup. He holds a distinguished academic background as an all-India rank holder in CA, ICWA and CS. He is also a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) from the USA.

    Dhruv Jain who joins as CASHe’s CEO brings over three decades of extensive experience in all facets of corporate finance, having worked with large domestic and multinational conglomerates. Most recently, he was MD – CFO with Altico Capital India Ltd, an NBFC, where he spearheaded the company’s critical finance functions, including raising debt capital for business growth. Prior to Altico Capital, he held key leadership roles with India Infoline Group, CitiFinancial (part of Citigroup), Bharti Airtel, Kotak Securities and ITC’s financial services group. Jain is a fellow chartered accountant and licentiate company secretary.

    Yashoraj Tyagi, the youngest CXO level team member, has been appointed as the company’s first bhief Business officer in addition to his current role as CTO. Tyagi joined the company in 2017 as a trainee engineer, straight from BITS Pilani and soon rose to become the CTO post his masters in financial engineering from the University of California at Berkeley. His experience in data sciences/AI and product management will ensure that the company is at the forefront of innovation and excellence. His expanded role will focus on bringing out innovative financial products that are inclusive and expansive besides striving for tech and business focussed alliances that are key to CASHe’s long-term growth and success.

    Mumbai: Sohini Guharoy has joined Network18 Group as the head of audience growth.

    Guharoy has moved on from NDTV, where she was heading audience and social strategy. Before that, she set up the audience engagement team at The Quint. 

    Her expertise lies in driving an integrated engagement and content strategy to accelerate audience engagement and revenue growth on platforms. 

    She has led content for social, developed products in-house for automation, forged platform partnerships, responsible for community management and hired appropriate talent for the audience division in her previous role.

    Mumbai: Hiveminds Innovative Market Solutions, a division of Madison World has opened a new office in Gurugram, announcing a formal expansion in Delhi-NCR. To head its north branch, Hiveminds has appointed Mohit Grover, a business leader who has led key P&L roles in digital first businesses.

    The Bengaluru based full-service digital marketing company has a team of 200 people spread across Bangalore, Mumbai and NCR.

    Grover has worked in insurance and travel companies like redBus, Goibibo, and Make My Trip, and then followed it up with his entrepreneurial venture Neemrana Naturals, a startup connecting farmers to consumers to provide organic produce.

    Leena Nair named CEO of French fashion house Chanel

    Mumbai: In another crown for India, one more Indian has landed the top job with a global leader, only this time in the fashion industry. French luxury group Chanel has named former Unilever executive Leena Nair as its new global chief executive, based in London.

    Alain Wertheimer, who owns the 111-year-old luxury brand with his brother Gerard Wertheimer, will act as global executive chairman, the group said in a statement.

    A British national, born in India, Nair’s career at Unilever spanned 30 years, most recently as the chief of human resources and a member of the company’s executive committee. Nair rose through the ranks of Unilever having started out as a management trainee. Under her watch, Unilever achieved gender parity across global management.

    Nair posted the development on her LinkedIn page and said, “I am humbled and honoured to be appointed the Global Chief Executive Officer of CHANEL, an iconic and admired company. I am so inspired by what CHANEL stands for. It is a company that believes in the freedom of creation, in cultivating human potential and in acting to have a positive impact in the world.”

    “I am grateful for my long career at Unilever, a place that has been my home for 30 years. It has given me so many opportunities to learn, grow and contribute to a truly purpose-driven organisation. I will always be a proud advocate of Unilever and its ambition to make sustainable living commonplace,” she further added.

    Nair follows US businesswoman Maureen Chiquet, who came from a fashion background and was CEO of Chanel for nine years until early 2016.

    Thereafter Alain Wertheimer, who will now move to the role of global executive chairman, had originally taken on the CEO job on a temporary basis.

    Nair would join at the end of January and be based in London, the group said, adding that the new appointments would ensure its “long-term success as a private company.”

    Mumbai: Cuemath, the global math tutoring platform, has announced several new senior appointments as it continues the reorganisation of its leadership team. The company onboarded Samir Kulshresth as CFO, Nisha Popli as CHRO, Janardan Singh as chief of sales, and Anushray Gupta as chief product and technology officer ahead of its next growth phase.

    Samir and Nisha have joined Cuemath already, with Janardan and Anushray’s appointments effective from January 2022. All the new hires will report to Vivek Sunder, who was newly appointed as CEO in October.

    Samir, a chartered accountant, has over 19 years of financial management experience across the e-commerce, healthcare, telecom & IT/ITES industries. He has held previous roles at Practo, Fortis Healthcare, Genpact, and Indus Towers.

    Janardan has over 20 years of business leadership experience with expertise in scaling up in the ed-tech industry. His last assignment was with ClassKlap as its founder and COO.

    Nisha has over 19 years of experience in directing human resources programs for leading businesses, including the Big Four accountancy firms and leading global professional services firms globally. Prior to Cuemath, she was heading HR for Moglix India, a B2B e-commerce start-up. She has also worked as the head of people office for the small format business of Future Group India, global HR head with The Smart Cube, and other HR roles with KPMG, Grant Thornton, and Ernst & Young.

    Anushray is rejoining Cuemath having originally built the company’s engineering and product team as CTO. He then moved to Udaan as product lead for their grocery vertical where he was key in increasing market share.

    In this role, Patil will oversee the creative capabilities of the agency, assist in campaign conceptualisation, and support the agency’s creative vision. As part of the leadership team, he will also champion a culture of creativity, inclusiveness, and innovation, said the agency.

    Patil brings in 18 years of work experience with him as an award-winning integrated advertising professional working at the intersection of creativity and tech. His last assignment was with Publicis Worldwide India as ECD. At Publicis Mumbai, he was heading Skoda Motors, Citi, Zee5, and Times Group.

    Patil is the co-founder of a kid-tech startup, built at a tech incubator in London, and Snap Counsellors, an award-winning teen helpline on Snapchat. He also helped launch Apple in India, contributing several pieces to the Grand Prix-winning Shot on the iPhone campaign.

    A computer science graduate who landed accidentally in the creative department of Ogilvy and Mather and never left, Patil has been recognised with D&AD Impact, One Show, Cannes, Effies APAC, Spikes Tangrams, etc. His previous stints were at BBDO India, Media Arts Lab (Apple’s agency), BBH India, and Ogilvy & Mather.

    Mumbai: Omnicom Media Group India’s media network OMD has announced the appointment of Anisha Iyer as its new chief executive officer, with effect from January 2022. In this new role, she will be reporting to Omnicom Media Group India group CEO Kartik Sharma.

    As CEO, Iyer will be responsible for leading the organisational vision and steering strategic goals across the business with a focus on leading future-ready teams, enhancing client relationships and delivering best-in-class solutions across the board, said the company in a statement on Tuesday.

    “Anisha embodies OMD’s vision efficaciously.     Mumbai: MX Player has appointed Suresh Menon as content and creative head of MX Studios.

    Menon is an actor-comedian who has worked in the Indian film industry and featured in more than 50 films in his career and over 100 TV shows. Previously, he was the co-founder and managing director of the digital media company One Network Entertainment. He is also well-known for his 12-year stint at 93.5 RED FM as a radio jockey.

    “I have been a part of the media and entertainment fraternity for close to two decades and I have had a vast experience in scripting, ideating and storytelling across formats like theatre, television, films, and web series. I am excited to bring these strengths to my new role as the content and creative head for MX Studios,” said Suresh Menon.
