    Starlink India country director Sanjay Bhargava steps down

    Mumbai: Sanjay Bhargava has stepped down as country director and chairman of the board of satellite broadband company Starlink India. His last working day was 31 December 2021.

    The announcement was made on LinkedIn where he posted, “I have stepped down as country director and chairman of the board of Starlink India for personal reasons… my last working day was December 31, 2021. I will have no comments for individuals and media so please respect my privacy.”

    Starlink is a division of aerospace company SpaceX led by billionaire Elon Musk. The company announced that it would launch its services in India by 2022 pending regulatory approvals.

    Bhargava’s resignation comes weeks after the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) ordered the company to refund the deposits it had collected from Indian customers who had pre-booked a connection. It stated that Starlink was not licensed to offer satellite-based internet services in India and advised consumers to refrain from subscribing to its services until it was granted the requisite permissions.

    Mumbai: Penta Esports, the e-sports brand of India-based gaming and e-sports company Newgen Gaming, has announced the appointment of Anand Rajwanshi as chief creative officer (CCO). 

    In this new role, Rajwanshi will be heading the company’s creative initiatives and bringing the brand’s ideas to life, said the statement.

    Prior to joining Penta Esports Gaming, Rajwanshi worked with Azzura International as chief operating officer and Publicis Groupe as associate vice president. While his gaming experience spans back to Kreeda, Reliance Games and training faculties at Aptech. With more than two decades in the industry, he is a seasoned professional delivering award-winning creative products for brands like Disney, Tata Motors, Nestle, and Airtel among others.

    “I have worked with Anand in the past and have always admired his creative approach and vision. I believe his addition to the team will be immensely beneficial to the brand as he shapes the creative messaging going forward,” said Penta Esports founder and CEO Anurag Khurana.

    Newgen Gaming operates in e-sports with Penta Esports. Rajwanshi will be working alongside internal and external teams to lead the creative conception and execution for all of Penta Esports’ initiatives including live broadcast and video IPs.

    “I was fortunate to be in the first batch of people who were responsible for starting the gaming industry in India. Having worked in several verticals, I feel gaming is the only domain to challenge every talent present in me,” commented Anand Rajwanshi. “Getting back into gaming is the full circle that I needed.     Mumbai: Apis India Ltd has brought Sharad Vatss on board as national head of sales and marketing. 

    The company has announced this key organisational change to generate more synergies in the business as it plans to expand further, said the statement. “In this role, Vatss will be responsible for driving connected marketing and sales at the company,” it added.

    An MBA in marketing, Vatss has over 22 years of experience in sales, strategy designing and marketing. His expertise lies in driving breakthrough growth for a business. In the past, he held senior leadership roles with brands of PepsiCo. His last assignment was of vice president of sales, where he was responsible for driving sales and distribution for India operations of brands like Tropicana juices, Gatorade Sports drink, Lipton Ice Tea and others with the capacity of national sales head.

    Vikram Sinha to lead Indonesia’s telecom major Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison

    Mumbai: Indian origin executive Vikram Sinha has been appointed as chief executive officer of telecommunications company PT Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison Tbk (Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison). The newly formed entity is Indonesia’s second-largest telco company.

    PT Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison Tbk was formed following the completion of the proposed merger of Indonesia’s two leading telecommunications businesses, PT Indosat Tbk (Indosat Ooredoo) and PT Hutchison 3 Indonesia (H3I), after receiving all required shareholder and regulatory approvals. The merger was completed on 4 January.

    Sinha was previously associated with Indosat Ooredoo as chief operating officer and director since 2019. He is a telecommunications industry veteran who has spent a decade with Bharti Airtel in India and Africa, before moving to the Ooredoo Group. At Ooredoo Group, he was posted in the Maldives in 2017 and later in Myanmar in 2018.

    Mumbai: GroupM’s flagship agency Mindshare on Wednesday announced the onboarding of Prashant Nandan as digital lead for the North and East region. He will be based out of Gurgaon and will report to Mindshare India senior vice president – North and East Ruchi Mathur and Mindshare South Asia digital head Gopa Menon.

    In his new position, Nandan will be responsible for digital strategic direction and leadership within the digital group to deliver the most effective and innovative communications plans. His role will focus on building a high-growth business and driving revenue strategy for Mindshare India, said the statement.

    Zee Entertainment hires Amrit Thomas as chief data officer

    Mumbai: Zee Entertainment Enterprises on Tuesday appointed Amrit Thomas as chief data officer to strengthen its overall capabilities in data analytics across all aspects of decision making.

    In this new role, Thomas will report into Zee president- technology and data Nitin Mittal and will be based out of the Technology & Innovation Centre in Bengaluru.

    “Digital transformation has been a key focus area for the company, and it is committed to building robust and innovative capabilities that redefine the entertainment industry experience for viewers across formats and screens,” said Zee in a statement. “Amrit’s appointment is in line with this approach, aiming to build out the central data & analytics function, democratising information and through that, sharply improving the company’s capability to anticipate, understand and meet the needs of its consumers and customers, thereby creating repeatable, insight-led revenue models.”

    A business and marketing professional, Thomas carries experience in driving transformation across categories like personal products, skincare, beverages, and sports across emerging and developed markets.

    In his previous stint, he was the CEO, strategic advisor, and investor for a retail-tech start-up. He was also associated with Diageo for 13 years, where he was responsible for the digital and marketing transformation of the organization. His previous stints include Hindustan Unilever, where he led the western region personal product sales team and later, the beverages business of the Company. He also spearheaded a direct-to-consumer start-up venture setting up and scaling phone-commerce home delivery service.

    Thomas is an alumnus of Harvard Business School, Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, and Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.

    Mumbai: DoubleVerify, a software platform for digital media measurement, data and analytics, has announced the onboarding of Rose Velez-Smith as EVP and chief human resources officer (CHRO).

    As CHRO, Rose will be responsible for all aspects of our human resources strategy and people functions globally, including talent management, leadership development, compensation & benefits, diversity, and inclusion & belonging, said the company in a statement on Tuesday. She will work closely with the CEO and executive leadership team to ensure the company continues to build a culture that attracts, retains and develops the best people for DoubleVerify’s rapidly growing workforce, it added.

    Mumbai: Two-wheeler manufacturer LML on Tuesday announced the appointment of e-mobility expert Partha Choudhary as its chief operating officer (COO). Choudhary was previously associated with LML as sales and marketing head between 2006 and 2017. 

    In this new role, Choudhary is tasked with the rapid expansion of the brand in the national and international markets. As COO, he will be responsible for leading the operations functions at a time of major business growth and transformation. Hoping to further promote the growth of the LML brand, Choudhary will spearhead new initiatives as part of his role in ensuring that LML is a leading force in every aspect of e-mobility, said the company in a statement.
