    CNN Digital Worldwide names Steve George as director, Asia-Pacific

    Mumbai: CNN Digital Worldwide has promoted Steve George to director of CNN Digital for the Asia-Pacific region, based in Hong Kong. George begins his new role effective immediately.

    In this role, he is responsible for digital content, strategy and publishing and leads a team of digital producers, reporters and editors across APAC.

    Prior to this role, George was a senior news editor for CNN Digital. He spearheaded CNN’s digital coverage of major breaking news events in Asia-Pacific and was the founding editor of CNN’s Meanwhile in China newsletter, a three-times-a-week analysis of Chinese society, politics and foreign policy for a global readership.

    “Steve is an outstanding, trusted and thoughtful journalist and leader,” said CNN Digital Worldwide SVP and editor-in-chief Meredith Artley. “I am joined by the team in Hong Kong and CNN staff around the world in being thrilled that he is taking on this leadership role at this critical time.”

    Before joining CNN in 2016, George spent eight years in Beijing as a magazine editor, covering news and social affairs across the greater China region.

    Samya Deb joins YouTube as head of brand creative studio-APAC

    Mumbai: Samya Deb has joined YouTube as head of brand creative studio, as per his LinkedIn profile. Deb, who is a co-founder of Northeast Edit, has moved from Airbnb as regional creative director, APAC.

    “Looks like the trial subscription to my early-retirement plan has come to an end. I have recently joined YouTube as Head of Brand Creative Studio, APAC. The mandate is to create an unprecedented stream of culture defining brand work to celebrate the most diverse creative community on the planet,” he wrote in a LinkedIn post.

    Deb has over a decade’s experience in leading creative studios. In his over six-year stint at Airbnb, he helmed multiple roles such as creative consultant, regional creative director and head of design for the APAC region.

    Prior to Airbnb, Deb worked with companies like Bates CHI & Partners, Matrix, DY Works, Cowan and Superunion.

    CoinDCX appoints Divakar Prayaga as senior VP & head of information security

    Mumbai: Crypto exchange and unicorn CoinDCX has announced the appointment of Divakar Prayaga as senior vice president and head of information security. 

    Prayaga will play a key role in building, scaling and sustaining CoinDCX’s industry-leading security systems, enabling customers to enjoy a seamless and safe trading experience. He was formerly the head of cyber defence at e-commerce giant Flipkart and the vice president of Cybersecurity at Wells Fargo and brings his wealth of expertise from the traditional financial sector to the future of finance, forging greater trust and credibility within the wider crypto and blockchain industry.  

    In this new role, Prayaga will now steer CoinDCX’s information security strategies and governance processes and spearhead an inclusive and comprehensive data protection programme to support development, research, and administrative information systems and technology. At the same time, Prayaga will chair the Information Security Advisory Committee and lead the Information Security Liaisons, championing information security within the crypto and blockchain industry, said the company in a statement.

    Hotstar’s Gaurav Shahlot joins Khatabook as head of product

    Mumbai: Fintech start-up Khatabook has announced the appointment of Gaurav Shahlot as head of product. He will also be a part of the core leadership team at Khatabook.

    With over 10 million monthly active merchant users on its platforms, Khatabook plans to continue to drive growth by building a seamless product experience under Shahlot’s product leadership, said the platform in a statement

    In his new role, he will be responsible for leading the product strategy and development along with team building and setting systems and processes for the product team to operate at scale. His key focus area would be to scale the products aligned to ongoing and new business initiatives of the company.

    “Over the last three years, we have built a product with mass acceptance based on first principles. With increasing use cases on Khatabook, we needed a leader who has the experience of solving product problems at scale in a high-growth environment,” said Khatabook CEO and co-founder Ravish Naresh. “Gaurav has extensive experience with scaling and running products at scale.     Before Hotstar, he worked with Myntra, leading mobile products. Shahlot co-founded Musicfellas, a music discovery platform to help users listen, share and support independent music all over the world, which was later acquired by Times Internet. An alumnus of Birla Institute of Technology and Science, he has done BE, computer science.

    apna taps Ronak Shah to drive its data strategy

    Mumbai: Homegrown jobs and professional networking platform apna has announced the appointment of Ronak Shah as the head of data. Shah is apna’s first data leader and will fully focus on creating data strategies for the platform.

    Shah’s appointment is in line with apna’s efforts to invest in and attract world-class leadership to support the company’s mission of empowering a billion lives, said the platform in a statement on Tuesday. “In this role, Shah will be leading apna’s data science and engineering teams to build a data-powered platform that will help apna’s user base to fulfill their aspirations,” it added.

    Mumbai: Sanjay Mishra has joined the Arzooo team as vice president of business development after seven years with Reliance Jio and its new retail arm, Jio Mart.

    At Arzooo, Mishra’s charter will be to drive Arzooo’s expansion and reach into tier-3 and tier-4  cities on its mission to power offline retail with technology and financial capability, making them competitive and scalable. He will be leading the sales organisation of Arzooo and providing leadership to its sales and business development teams. He will be spearheading Arzooo’s growth and expansion across the country.

    Samrat Bedi takes over as Gozoop India CEO

    Mumbai: Gozoop Group has announced the appointment of Samrat Bedi as chief executive officer of Gozoop Group in India. He will be based in Mumbai and will report to the board of Gozoop Group.

    In this role, Bedi will spearhead Gozoop’s business operations and leadership team in India. “He will be responsible for carrying forward Gozoop’s legacy of helping brands achieve scale and success via a holistic communication approach,” said the marketing company in a statement on Tuesday.
