    Amazon’s Kunal Tiwari joins GoKwik as chief product officer

    Mumbai: GoKwik on Wednesday announced the onboarding of Amazon’s Kunal Tiwari as its chief product officer. According to a statement, the company aims to expand its product portfolio and further strengthen its existing product suite to offer best-in-class support to D2C brands.

    In his new role, Tiwari will spearhead GoKwik’s overall product strategy, execution and innovation.

    “Product innovation is one of our key strategic pillars as we are changing the way people experience shopping end to end,” commented GoKwik co-founder and CEO Chirag Taneja. “Kunal will be a huge asset to us as we move forward in this journey of building products that complement the remarkable work D2C eCommerce brands do. He is a seasoned product leader and shows true passion for solving customer and merchant pain points.”

    Tiwari is a seasoned product and science leader with 15+ years of experience across banking, insurance, and e-commerce industries. In his last role at Amazon, he led multiple product portfolios, which ensured the safety and compliance of Amazon’s catalogue across 20+ marketplaces. Previously, he has led strategic science and product initiatives for BlackRock, AXA-XL, and Bank of America. 

    His expertise in building AI/ML-enabled products will help GoKwik to move faster and effectively towards its vision of democratising the shopping experience. GoKwik is building the best-in-class checkout experience for D2C brands that solve for personalisation, ‘Return to Origin (RTO)’ reduction and conversion rate improvement across the entire funnel, said the statement.

    Mumbai: Zee Learn on Tuesday announced the appointment of Anish Shah as chief financial officer (CFO).

    Shah is a chartered accountant with more than two decades of experience. He has experience across various industries like fin-tech, telecommunications, airlines and manufacturing. His functional experience includes various areas of finance like finalisation of Accounts, IND-AS, business finance, MIS, FP&A, budgeting, accounts payable, cash flow management, SAP automation, cost optimisation, financial modeling etc.

    Shah’s last work experience was with IL&FS Securities as its chief financial officer. Before that, he was with Jet Airways as head of financial controls. At Jet Airways. Shah was responsible for FP&A, business finance and cost optimisation.

    Prior to joining Jet Airways, he was with Reliance Jio as general manager (finance, compliance and accounts). There he was responsible for project and operations budgeting, preparing business plans, business commercials, SAP implementation, and automation.

    upGrad taps Sanjay Kumar to build corporate affairs & public policy vertical

    Mumbai: Ed-tech major upGrad on Tuesday announced the appointment of Sanjay Kumar who will spearhead the company’s new vertical of corporate affairs and public policy for India. He will be based out of the company’s Noida office and also lead the scholarship efforts.

    As part of his new role, Kumar will work with the government, industry associations and other relevant stakeholders in the policy space for propelling strategic developments, which in turn, can support the brand in creating an integrated learning ecosystem within the country, said the company in a statement.

    Kumar brings with him over two decades of in-depth knowledge and expertise in running programmes at grassroots levels on government linkages and policy advocacy. Through his past endeavors, he has been associated with Sewa Bharat for 17 years as director and worked on programs that involved livelihood, microfinance, education and skill-building and public health.

    In his last assignment, Kumar worked with the Lakshmi Mittal and Family South Asia Institute, Harvard University as an India country director for five years. During his tenure, he helped build and strengthen Harvard University’s footprint in India. At present, he also serves as the president of the Harvard Club of India.

    In this new role, her key responsibilities will be to build Yulu into a preferred employer brand, scale up the talent pool, and create an inclusive, enriching and progressive work culture, said the company in a statement.

She has also been associated with global brands like RR Donnelley, Hutchison Whampoa, and American Express.

    Mumbai: m/Six, GroupM’s youngest outcome-based agency has announced the appointment of Sahil Sachdeva as the national digital head on Monday. He will be based out of Gurgaon and will report to m/Six India head and senior VP Saket Sinha.

    In this role, Sachdeva will be responsible for managing the agency’s national digital services and helping existing and new clients transform their digital processes and marketing strategies as well as achieving ROI-driven marketing outcomes, said the company. He will focus on strategic and innovative solutions, this will include the continued development of integrated and ‘always-on’ digital strategy that cuts across programmatic, paid, social, search and e-commerce, it added.

    Disney India elevates Aravamudhan K as executive director, government relations

    Mumbai: The Walt Disney Company India has elevated Aravamudhan K to the position of executive director, government relations. Previously, he served as senior vice president at Star TV Network.

    Aravamudhan K has been associated with the TV broadcast industry since 1993. He joined Star TV India in 2007 as manager of corporate communications.

    On Friday, he took to LinkedIn to announce completing 15 years at Star India. “Today completed my 15 exciting and eventful years at Star India. Witnessed many changes in the broadcasting sector and in the company thanks to my mentors, colleagues, friends, family and external stakeholders who played a major role in my evolution as a GR professional,” he said.

    He spent five years working with the Indian government at the ministry of industry. He has had stints at media houses such as SAB TV, UTV, ITV, and Star News before joining Star TV Network.

    Mumbai: Bakery foods company Britannia Industries Ltd (BIL) on Friday announced the appointment of Amit Doshi as chief marketing officer, effective from 17 January.

    ‘’I am happy to welcome Amit back to the Britannia family. Amit’s cross-sectoral marketing experience will be valuable in taking our innovation mindset to the next level and building consumer delight,” said BIL managing director Varun Berry.

    Doshi takes over from Vinay Subramanyam who left the company in December 2021. “I thank Vinay for his invaluable contribution in building purposive brands especially during the difficult times of the last two years, and wish him the very best in his endeavors,’’ Berry further said.

    With over 17 years of experience, Doshi has expertise in brand marketing, sales, and customer development. In his previous assignment, he was with Lenovo as director of marketing (India and South Asia). He has gained experience in consumer (B2C), enterprise, small and medium business (SMB), and tablet business units at Lenovo and brings a valuable understanding of consumers and markets across product categories.

    Rocket scientist S Somanath named as ISRO chairman

    Mumbai: Well-known rocket scientist S Somanath is named as chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). He will succeed Dr K Sivan, who completes his extended tenure on 14 January.

    “The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of S Somanath, Director, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) to the post of Secretary, Department of Space and Chairman, Space Commission for a combined tenure of three years from the date of joining of the post, inclusive of an extension in tenure beyond the age of superannuation in the public interest, or until further order whichever is earlier,” said the space organisation in a statement.  

    Somanath’s expertise lies in the area of system engineering of launch vehicles. He joined Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) in the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) project in 1985. He served as associate director (projects) at the VSSC and as project director of the GSLV Mk-III launch vehicle. He also spent two-and-a-half years as director of Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC) at Thiruvananthapuram’s Valiamala.

    Somanath pursued his B-tech in mechanical engineering from Kollam’s TKM College of Engineering and Masters in aerospace engineering from IIT Bengaluru with specialisation in structures, dynamics and control.
