    Songfest India brings in Tanushree Paul as VP – accounts & content

    Mumbai: In a bid to strengthen its content arm, Songfest India has brought Tanushree Paul on board as vice president, accounts and creative.

    Paul will be spearheading branded content initiatives and brand associations for the creative agency. She will also be working on developing and executing music videos and web shows for the company-owned YouTube channel, said the statement.

    “Tanushree brings in not only a rich experience of working with multiple brands and creative people across projects but also strong work ethic and a relentless drive to create, which gels beautifully with the values of our company,” stated Songfest India CEO and co-founder Gaurav Dagaonkar on the appointment. “Our aim has always been to create impactful stories with our music videos and ads, and her onboarding will help us take this offering to more clients.”

    Paul comes to Songfest with over nine years of advertising experience. Prior to joining Songfest, she worked with BBDO India, a part of the global behemoth, as a senior account director for two years. She has also worked with MullenLowe Lintas Group as brand service director for seven years.

    “Content is something which has always excited me, and I’ve been passionate about it since the start of my career,” said Tanushree Paul on her new assignment. “With advertising going through a lot of transition, as things move more and more towards content, I feel that Songfest is the perfect place where I can get a chance to narrate some heartening stories beyond the boundaries of a 30-second ad film. I look forward to doing some great work with Gaurav, Meghna and the team.”

    Mumbai: Homegrown home furnishing brand OMA Living has named Dr Mahendra Singh Bhadouria as the chief executive officer. Bhadouria will be responsible for the entire GTM, sales, delivery, operations,   and profitability of the company.

    A seasoned industry veteran with nearly three decades of experience, Bhadouria is known for driving exponential business growth through transformations and strategic GTM developments, having successfully led various start-ups and several companies,

    “OMA deserves a leader like Dr Bhadouria,” said OMA Living chairperson of the board Charu Munjal. “His extensive grounding in retail operations and business development skills will strengthen OMA’s channel partnerships, develop our strategic alliances and e-commerce arm, and expand our domestic and international sales presence.     In his earlier role, Bhadouria was associated with Biba Apparels as senior vice president and head of sales and operations. He was the driving force behind its international expansion, including the introduction of the hotline picture tube throughout the Asia Pacific. Earlier, he was with premium luxury retail player DLF Brands as senior vice president and also held senior executive roles at Essar Group, Planet M Retail Ltd, The Mobilestore, Hotline Group, LG Hotline CPT, and Maral Overseas.

    Bhadouria has a doctorate in Retail Service Quality as well as an MBA from Jiwaji University, Gwalior. He graduated from the HAAS School of Management at the University of California, Berkeley, and has also completed the executive programme in business finance from IIM Ahmedabad, and the executive programme in business analytics from IIM Calcutta.

    Kia India onboards MyungSik Sohn as chief sales officer

    Mumbai: Auto major Kia India on Friday announced the onboarding of MyungSik Sohn as chief sales officer (CSO), with immediate effect. 

    Sohn has been associated with Kia Corp for 27 years, and during his last position, he served as general manager in China. Throughout his illustrious career with Kia Corp, he has held various leadership positions in China, Mexico, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Korea, and Europe.

    In his new role, Sohn will oversee the planning and execution of sales strategies aimed at driving growth. He will also collaborate with Kia India’s current leadership to expand the brand’s reach in tier 3, 4, and upcountry markets, said the company in a statement.

    WarnerMedia announces three senior content hires in Asia

    Mumbai: WarnerMedia on Friday announced three senior content hires in Asia to bolster its original productions teams in advance of the launch of HBO Max in the region.

    In the Singapore-based team, Mark Francis has been appointed group lead of production and development (scripted and unscripted), and Wee Shi Ming has been named lead of entertainment content acquisition for North Asia content. They both will report to WarnerMedia head of content – entertainment for Southeast Asia, Taiwan and Hong Kong Magdalene Ew.

    In Mumbai, Saugata Mukherjee joins WarnerMedia as head of content – entertainment, India. The newly-created role, like Ew, reports to managing director of India, Southeast Asia and Korea Clement Schwebig.

    “These are vital roles as we look to ramp up our original content and programming ambitions in this region,” said Schwebig. “Saugata, Mark and Shi Ming have a great eye for a winning project and have enviable connections within the industry. With them all now in place over the past few months, we’re looking in great shape to entertain local audiences with a well-rounded and premium slate.”

    Former Astro head of OTT content and iflix chief content officer Francis will lead a regional team to develop Asian original productions under the ‘Max Originals’ banner.

    Wee Shi Ming, in the content acquisition team, started in late 2021 and will focus on securing Japanese, Korean, Chinese and Anime titles. Prior to this role, Wee was at Viu and Sony Pictures Television Networks, where she was head of acquisition and programming for Asian content. Wee now works alongside Katheryn Lim, who leads content acquisition for international and English-language entertainment titles, with both of them reporting into Ew.

    Former SonyLiv and Disney exec Mukherjee also joined in late 2021 and is responsible for commissioning local originals, as well as acquiring and developing Indian content across all general entertainment genres.

    In September 2021, WarnerMedia also announced the appointment of Audrey Wee as the physical production lead for its growing line-up of regional entertainment content in Southeast Asia, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. And in July, May-Yi Lee was named Lead of development and production – unscripted for the same region. Wee reports into Ew while Lee reports into Francis.

    Mumbai: Indigo Consulting, a Publicis Groupe company, has appointed Sanjeev Kumar as senior vice president – customer success and operational excellence.

    The company’s chief growth officer Krishna Chandaluri will be transitioning to lead his growth mandate as Kumar takes over the baton from him. With this, the firm that specialises in enterprise technology, design, and data-first talent aims to strengthen its delivery and operations team.

    With over 25 years of IT service experience in managing large-scale programs in a globally distributed setup, Kumar has handled projects for clients like Polaris, Xansa, and Nagarro, among others.

    Some key domains that Kumar has worked for include banks across the globe in countries like Japan, Indonesia, UK, Singapore; Insurance – North America; Education – North America: Telco – Europe and continental Europe, and CPG – UK.

    Mumbai: Outbrain, a recommendation platform for the open web, on Thursday announced the onboarding of Mehul Rao as head of engage in India. 

    Rao, who previously served as general manager-corporate at Times Internet, brings 14 years of digital and media expertise to the new role. His prior leadership roles include associate vice president digital at Times Network, associate vice president corp planning and strategic alliances at NDTV Convergence.

    Disney+ Hotstar appoints Shweta Poojari as PR & publicity head for India

    Mumbai: Disney+ Hotstar has appointed Shweta Poojari as head of public relations and publicity for the Indian market. She will report to Disney+ Hotstar chief marketing officer Siddharth Sakdher. 

    She was previously managing publicity for Netflix originals in India for three years.

    “After an incredible three plus years at Netflix my exciting journey here comes to a close,” she announced on LinkedIn. “My time at Netflix has been something that I will cherish forever.     Chad Matthews named president of ABC-owned television stations

    Mumbai: WABC New York’s executive Chad Matthews is named as the president of ABC-owned TV stations, effective immediately. He succeeds Wendy McMahon, who left the company last year to become co-president of CBS News and Stations.

    Matthews steps into the role from his position as president and general manager of WABC-TV New York. 

    In his new role, Matthews will report to Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution president of networks Debra OConnell. He will have chief management responsibility for the eight ABC-owned television stations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Houston, Raleigh-Durham and Fresno.

    “Chad is an exceptional leader who has a track record of success, always championing innovative content and storytelling, super serving our viewers with programs that have a meaningful impact on the community overall, and achieving and maintaining the highest standards of operational excellence while driving enormous success across linear and digital platforms,” said OConnell in a statement, as quoted by The Hollywood Reporter. “His strategic vision, passion for local news, forward thinking roll-up your sleeves attitude and commitment to teamwork are among the many attributes that will ensure that under his leadership our Owned Television Stations will continue to thrive.”

    Matthews was associated with WABC since 2000. However, he also worked for NBC-owned WTVJ between 2012 and 2017, only to re-join WABC the same year. In this role, he oversaw the entire management for ABC7/WABC-TV and its subsidiary businesses.

    ICICI Lombard names Sheena Kapoor as marketing, corporate communications & CSR head

    Mumbai: Private general insurance company ICICI Lombard has named Sheena Kapoor as its new head – marketing, corporate communications and CSR.  

    In this role, Kapoor will focus on developing and strengthening corporate advertising and branding, customer-oriented awareness strategies, across all company product lines and geographies, said the company in a statement. “She will spearhead the company’s innovative efforts with an enterprise-wide focus, thereby aiding in scaling the company’s overall brand positioning among other players,” it added.
