    International Art Machine ropes in Karishma Naina Sharma to head international TV

    Mumbai: Global entertainment studio International Art Machine has appointed film and TV executive Karishma Naina Sharma to head international television.

    In her new role, Sharma will “bring her vast experience in the Indian and global marketplace to help curate a creative vision with an international perspective,” said the statement. She previously worked at Balaji Motion Pictures as the head of development and creative vice president where she developed and produced over 20 feature films under Ekta Kapoor and Sameer Nair.

    Sharma, who will be based globally and in Mumbai, will be steering the studio in Asia and “take International Art Machine to its next phase of growth,” the statement said.

    Havas Worldwide names Jigisha Chawla as EVP for Gurgaon office

    Mumbai: Havas Worldwide, the creative arm of Havas Group India has appointed Jigisha Chawla as executive vice president for its Gurgaon office. She will report to Havas Worldwide (Creative) managing director Manas Lahiri and will work across key clients of the office.

    Havas Worldwide (Creative) Gurgaon is one of the biggest operations of the agency in India, with over 100 employees, according to the conglomerate. Apart from its biggest client Reckitt, the unit also manages some of India’s leading brands including Dabur, William Grant, Suzuki, Fortis Healthcare, and several others. 

    Over the last three years, the Gurgaon office has bagged several new clients including Stashfin, Renewbuy, Vivo, Jimmy’s Cocktails, Info Edge, and several others, said the statement.

    “With the exponential growth of the Gurgaon unit, we are focussed on beefing up our senior leadership and our product,” Manas Lahiri said. “Jigisha will play a pivotal role in enhancing and strengthening our client relationships and widening our product portfolio.”

    A seasoned advertising and communications professional with over 20 years of experience, Jigisha’s expertise is ingrained in traditional advertising with knowledge of its tenets in brand building with a good understanding of new-age media and the importance of technology to create brand stories.

She has led many integrated teams and brings substantial global project management experience on board.

    Essence India bolsters services & presence with three key appointments

    Mumbai: Essence, a global data and measurement-driven media agency that is part of GroupM on Wednesday announced three new leadership appointments to strengthen its services and presence in India. 

    Based in Bengaluru, Bharati Joshi will lead the agency’s product offering as India vice president – product. Kunal Danda will head the agency’s Mumbai office as India vice president – client services. Based in Delhi, Vinish Mathews will lead the agency’s partnership with key client Google as India and Southeast Asia vice president- client services. All three of them will report to India managing director Sonali Malaviya.

    “Bharati, Kunal and Vinish’s appointments are key in strengthening Essence’s India leadership team.     Joshi brings with her over 17 years of industry experience, joining from Initiative where she was assistant vice president, strategy and insights. Previously, she held practice and client leadership positions at GroupM’s Wavemaker and Maxus.

    Danda comes with more than two decades of media and marketing experience in India and the Middle East, working at agencies such as OMD, Edelman and Digitas, and organisations such as DBS Bank, Energy Central, and Arab Insurance Group. Most recently, he served as a principal partner at Mindshare in Mumbai, heading digital media, integrated marketing, and business development.

    With over 18 years of industry experience in China and India, Mathews joins from Mindshare, where he was most recently managing director, overseeing teams across Beijing and Shanghai. With a proven track record in leading client relationships across sectors such as e-commerce, fast-moving consumer goods, tourism, and vision care, his capabilities in strategic brand management, media investment planning, and communications campaign design have helped brands build immersive consumer connections using media.

    Truecaller bolsters brand and marketing leadership with key appointments

    Mumbai: Caller ID app Truecaller on Tuesday announced the appointment of Ketan Bharati as vice president of global marketing operations, Ashwani Sinha as vice president of global brand and Raj Mukherjee as head of CRM. The expansion of the marketing team is a strategic move to strengthen and support the ongoing brand expansion and capitalise on the multiple growth opportunities ahead, it said in a statement.

    The new team members will lead the brand management function and report to chief commercial officer Kari Krishnamurthy who is based in Stockholm, Sweden.

    Manan Shah, earlier director of marketing for Truecaller India, will be leading marketing efforts across India and South East Asia. Both the regions are pivotal for Truecaller’s growth and will be headed by Manan who has been with the brand for close to six years and has 18 years of work experience in the brand and marketing industry.

    Ashwani Sinha moves to Truecaller from Ogilvy, where he headed the Pernod Ricard business helping its iconic brands break new ground and lead the strategy function for BMW, helping the ultimate driving machine hold its own in a chauffeur-driven luxury car market. He has been instrumental in championing growth for some of the world’s most valuable brands, building solid partnerships with all stakeholders, and mentoring future leaders.

    Ketan Bharati joins Truecaller from GroupM (WPP) where he spearheaded multiple projects and was responsible for leading the planning and investments in media for partners. Ketan comes with a career spanning over 15 years in the industry with a rich experience of building media strategy, broadcasting, product and revenue strategy across brands like Vodafone, Star India, and Reckitt Benckiser.

    Raj Mukherjee joins Truecaller from Unacademy after a short sabbatical. Raj was assistant vice president of customer experience at Unacademy where he was responsible for developing customer experience strategies, content management, process innovation, and trust and safety. He has also worked with brands like PhonePe and LinkedIn in the past.

    “I am extremely happy to have excellent leaders coming on board,” said Kari Krishnamurthy. “It perfectly aligns with our ambition of making our brand much stronger globally. I also believe Manan’s role of handling South East Asia should take our best practices of success in India to replicate in this growth market.”

    Mumbai: iTV Network has named Ad Rustle Media Services LLP founder Mukund Setlur as its advisor – sales, strategy, and revenue. He will report to the network’s board. 

    In this new role, Mukund will be responsible for strengthening the revenue for the entire network. He will also be responsible for incubating new ideas, delivering breakthrough solutions at iTV network and executing sales strategies aimed at driving growth, said the statement.

    Mumbai: Tech Mahindra has brought N Dilip Venkatraman on board as global head, media and entertainment.

    With over 20 years of corporate experience, Venkatraman has held key positions at India Today Group, Dish TV, Pugmarks, and Zee Network.

    Prior to joining Tech Mahindra, Venkatraman had launched a video technology startup VideoTap in 2016, which helps video content producers across genres to increase engagement within the video itself and achieve higher ROI.

    He was previously associated with iTV Network as group COO, strategy and business development, where he was responsible for planning strategic solutions and business development for the network. He also helped the media company revamp its digital strategy for the entire Network and relaunch newsx.com, inkhabhar.com, sundayguardianlive.com

    An alumnus of IIM-Bangalore, Venkatraman has also been the CEO of Network18-owned CNN-IBN & IBN7, where he was responsible for the strategic, financial, and operational management of the channels.

    Mumbai: Jet Airways has appointed Ronit Baugh as the general manager and head of communications, as per Baugh’s LinkedIn update.

    “Thrilled to be joining the iconic airline at this incredibly transformative moment in its journey, and to becoming a small – and hopefully, significant – part of the first-ever airline revival story in the history of Indian aviation,” Baugh wrote in a social media post on Monday. “I look forward to the opportunity of helping write the next chapter of the brand Jet Airways story, along with all colleagues and stakeholders.”

    An alumnus of Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication Pune, Baugh is a corporate and marketing communications specialist. He most recently worked with Oxford University Press as communications and public affairs lead for India. Previously, he served at Shiv Nadar University as brand and communications lead.

    His earlier professional stints also include companies like Vistara, Aircel, Star TV Network, and IndiGo.

    Jose Leon elevated as MD of Indigo Consulting

    Mumbai: Publicis Groupe on Monday announced the elevation of Jose Leon as managing director of Indigo Consulting – the digital business transformation (DBT) arm of the company in the country.

    Leon is a digital strategy and tech expert with over 25 years of corporate experience across global brands like Adobe and Xerox. He joined Publicis Groupe as DBT business president. 

    He was promoted as the COO of the company in 2020.

    Leon earlier worked closely with the Indigo Consulting CEO Rajesh Ghatge, who has recently been in transition to a wider role in Publicis Groupe. “There could be no better succession plan than Jose at the helm of Indigo Consulting,” said Ghatge on Leon’s appointment. “He has considerably accelerated investments by bringing in best-in-class talent across delivery & technology functions and plans to ramp-up these endeavours through 2022-23, for bespoke software engineering, core application modernisation and CX & EX re-imagination projects.”

    Moving forward, Leon will work closely with the newly appointed Publicis Groupe India digital technology business CEO Amaresh Godbole. “Indigo Consulting has deep domain knowledge across financial services and retail, which will be key growth drivers for Publicis Groupe’s digital technology business, especially D2C commerce,” stated Godbole. “I’m grateful to inherit a strong leader in Jose who runs the Indigo Consulting business with passion and ownership.     Saurabh Nath joins Swiggy as head of brand marketing

    Mumbai: Saurabh Nath has joined food delivery platform Swiggy as the head of brand marketing, according to his LinkedIn profile.

    This new role entails Nath leading the brand marketing across Swiggy masterbrand and delivery business.

    Prior to joining Swiggy, Nath was with OZiva, a D2C startup in the nutrition and wellness space, as head of marketing. He led the marketing function and P&L with responsibilities across brand marketing, performance marketing, category management, and e-commerce.

    Armed with over a decade of experience in the field of marketing, Nath began the initial days of his career with Kimberly-Clark Lever as assistant manager-consumer and marketing insights. Later, he joined Kellogg Company where he headed the category of corn flakes, muesli, and granola during his seven-year stint at the FMCG company.

    Virginia Sharma joins Google Cloud as India marketing head

    Mumbai: Former JioSaavn executive Virginia Sharma has joined Google Cloud as the India marketing head. 

    At JioSaavn, Sharma worked as vice president – brand solutions, where she was responsible for driving the adoption of the audio OTT platform’s advertising solutions for brands and overseeing agency and client relationships.

    Previously, she was associated with LinkedIn as sales director – marketing solutions for about six years. 

    Her earlier stints also include software major IBM, where she served in various roles including vice president, marketing, systems and technology group; CMO India/VP, marketing and communications; director, marketing and communications, software among others. 

    An Indian School of Business alumnus, Sharma has been in the marketing sphere since 1999.
