    TV9 Network appoints Deep Upadhyay as interim editor of Hindi & English websites

    Mumbai: TV9 Network has expanded the role of editor convergence and strategy Deep Upadhyay by appointing him as interim editor of TV9 Hindi and English websites. He will also coordinate with the group’s regional digital assets.

    The company said, “TV9 Group has gained undisputed leadership in the broadcast space. The network has made significant strides in the digital arena as well. TV9 aspires to replicate its stupendous success in broadcast across its digital properties.”

    “The group, accordingly, is effecting certain strategic changes at the leadership level to ensure TV9 digital emerges as a champion as well,” said the statement.

    Deep Upadhyay had joined TV9 Network from News24 where he had a successful stint as managing editor for more than seven years. He is a senior journalist who has worked with various media houses like India TV, Zee News and Dainik Bhaskar.

    Shemaroo Entertainment onboards Mohan Gopinath as business head – Bollywood

    Mumbai: Shemaroo Entertainment has announced the appointment of Mohan Gopinath as its business head – Bollywood. In his new role, Mohan will be responsible for driving the Bollywood business of Shemaroo.

    Mohan comes with 25 years of rich experience in the media and broadcasting space across various functions. Mohan was with Zee Entertainment for almost two decades and then he co-founded the Bengali movie channel Aamar Cinema and Hindi general entertainment channel, Azaad TV. He was an advisor on the launch of Viacom’s movie channel Rishtey Cineplex as well.

    Shemaroo has one of the largest repositories of Bollywood content both premiere and classic. It owns the rights to iconic movies such as “Amar Akbar Anthony”, “Hunter”, “Jab We Met”, “Beta”, amongst others.

    Recently, Shemaroo FilmiGaane YouTube channel, which hosts its library of Bollywood songs, crossed 60 million subscribers. According to the data by influenex.com, the channel ranks third amongst the most popular music YouTube channels in India.

    It has a monthly viewership of 500+ million and it attracts around 15+ million views per day.

    With 28 years of experience, Vazirani is a marketing and advertising executive who specialises in end-to-end marketing & media strategies that align with consumer behaviour to drive business objectives around subscriber acquisition, retention and loyalty.

    She was previously associated with NBCUniversal Media as EVP insights, measurement & advertising sales with the charge of transforming its approach to measuring effectiveness of ad spend across the NBCU portfolio.

    She has spent two decades at Comcast Cable where she played a role in directing the portfolio strategy development and buying of paid/owned media in excess of $1.5 billion. She is based out of New York.

    Mumbai: Chennai-based Drone startup Garuda Aerospace on Monday has appointed the former Indian men’s cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni as a shareholder in Garuda Aerospace. Dhoni is also the brand ambassador of the company, the company said in a statement.

    Equipped with 300 drones & 500 pilots operating in 26 cities, Garuda Aerospace drone manufacturing facilities were recently launched by honourable prime minister Narendra Modi.

    About his association with Garuda, MS Dhoni said, “I’m happy to be a part of Garuda Aerospace and look forward to witnessing their growth story with the unique drone solutions they have to offer.”

    Mumbai: Manoj Juneja has joined Reebok India as a chief operating officer (COO).

    Aditya Birla Group’s fashion retail division Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail (ABFRL) has acquired US-based brand management company Authentic Brands Group (ABG) in 2019 to sell and distribute Reebok products in India and other southeast asian countries. Juneja will oversee wholesale, e-commerce, and Reebok branded retail stores in India.

    Juneja’s career spans 23 years in strategic roles in retail, digital channel sales, marketing & leading successful brands in leadership roles for over nine years. His expertise lies in strategic planning, digital strategy, leading big teams, channel sales and retail operations and marketing.

    Juneja was previously associated with Timex Group India as vice president of sales and marketing.

    His longest association has been with adidas Group where he spent over 13 years and was senior director of sales and e-commerce. He was also associated with LG Electronics India.

    Memon has been associated with the company for over 14 years. He was previously vice president of content and marketing and led the content and marketing verticals in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. He is responsible for developing strategic partnerships and creating new IPs in content and marketing. Memon pioneered localising Indian drama formats in the MENA region through co-production as Arabic originals.

    Working closely with Brightcove CEO Marc DeBevoise, Beck will be focused on developing strategies that enhance current offerings and create opportunities to expand Brightcove’s existing businesses. His broad remit will also focus on enabling Brightcove to expand into new markets and lines of business utilizing its market-leading software platform.

    He also drove the modernization of its core operations across AMC, BBC America, Sundance TV, IFC, and WE TV. Prior to his time at AMC, David served as the EVP, corporate strategy and operations at WarnerMedia, and chief strategy officer of TNT and TBS. He is also the co-founder of advisory and investment firm BRAVE Ventures, acquired by Turner (now Warner Bros. Discovery).
