    Rajiv Mishra joins Samsung as VP- media

    NEW DELHI: Senior journalist Rajiv Mishra, who held the post of chief executive officer of Lok Sabha for about three years until he left some months ago, has been appointed as vice president (media) of Samsung’s south west Asia office in Gurgaon.

     

    Mishra began his 21 year long career from Hindustan Times and later switching over to electronic media.

     

    He began as manager – programming in Star, then joined Zee TV as senior manager – corporate, Reliance Infocomm as general manager – corporate affairs, News 24 (BAG Films and Media) as COO and director and India News as COO. He launched Times Now of the Times of India group in USA as India Now while working for CineMaya Media of USA.

     

    Mishra was with Lok Sabha TV as CEO in an official rank and status of additional secretary.

     

    He is also the founder and first president of Association of Radio Operators for India (AROI). AROI is the industry representative body of all FM Radio Broadcasters/Stations of India. He also founded Association of Regional Television Broadcasters of India.

    Management shuffle at HUL

    MUMBAI: Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) has announced key changes in the management committee of the company. Subject to Unilever Indonesia’s external board approval, Hemant Bakshi, currently executive director – home and personal care, will be appointed as executive vice president (EVP) of Unilever Indonesia.

     

    The home and personal care (HPC) business will now be organised into home care and personal care businesses in India. Samir Singh, currently global brand vice president Lifebuoy and vice president – personal care lead, south Asia cluster, Unilever, will be appointed as HUL executive director – personal care and Priya Nair, currently vice president – Laundry, HUL, will be appointed as executive director – home care. Both Nair and Singh will be part of the management committee of HUL and their appointments are effective 1 October 2014.

     

    HUL CEO & managing director Sanjiv Mehta said, “I wish to take the opportunity to express my deep appreciation for the significant contribution that Hemant has made to the India business, both in his current role as executive director – HPC and his earlier role as executive director – CD. I would like to congratulate Hemant on his move to Unilever Indonesia and wish him all the best in his new assignment.”

     

    Nair joined the company in the consumer insights team in 1995, where she brought with her a diverse and rich experience including customer development and marketing. In her earlier roles, she has worked across various brands such as Dove, Axe, Rexona, Closeup, Pepsodent. As VP home care she has been leading the entire detergents portfolio of HUL. More recently, she has led the launch of HUL’s path breaking rural mobile marketing initiative ‘Kan Khajura Tesan’ which received three Gold Lion awards at the 2014 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

     

    Singh on the other hand joined Unilever in 1997 as a management trainee in India. He has worked across many brands including Fair & Lovely, Vaseline, Ponds and has also worked in Foods in Customer Development in India.

     

    For the past four years Singh has been the global brand vice president for Lifebuoy and a member of the Global Category Leadership Team for skin cleansing. In this role, he has led global strategy, innovation and communication for Lifebuoy in more than 30 key countries across the world. He was also the personal care cluster lead for south Asia in 2014.

     

    “We have reorganised the home and personal care business into two separate businesses to ensure focus on the growth drivers for each of these businesses. I am pleased to welcome Priya and Samir to their new roles. Both bring with them rich and diverse marketing and business experience in Unilever. Priya joined HUL in 1995 and has worked in roles across marketing, customer development and CMI. Samir joined HUL in 1997 and has worked in various roles in HUL and across the regional and global Unilever organisation,” he added.

    Dentsu Aegis Network appoints Harsha Joshi as EVP- group trading

    MUMBAI: Dentsu Aegis Network has appointed Harsha Joshi as its executive VP- group trading. Joshi will report to Dentsu Aegis Network chairman and CEO south Asia Ashish Bhasin.

     

    Joshi is an industry veteran who brings with her over 23 years of experience in media buying & planning, branded content and media audit and advisory.

     

    She has been the head of media buying at Fulcrum (Mindshare), headed media buying at Madison Media for 12 years. She also served as CEO – media & international at Spatial Access Media Solutions and her last stint was at McKinsey, India as media advisory.

     

    Bhasin said, “The remarkable growth that the Dentsu Aegis Network has had has resulted in our scale growing rapidly. To ensure our clients get the best global practices in the extremely important area of Trading, we decided to invest in a very senior resource. After evaluating several candidates, we were delighted to have Harsha join us.     Romil Ramgarhia quits Zeel, joins BARC India

    MUMBAI: Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India has appointed Romil Ramgarhia as its chief business officer. This is a move to strengthen its core management team as the joint industry body moves closer to the launch of its services. In his new role, Ramgarhia will report to BARC CEO Partho Dasgupta.

     

    Ramgarhia brings with him more than 12 years of experience across media, telecom and manufacturing sector. In his last role, he was Zeel chief commercial officer. Before Zeel, he was also associated with Viacom18, Bharti Airtel, Asian Paints and ACC, in different capacities.

     

    Zeel MD and CEO and BARC chairman Punit Goenka said, “Romil has played a key role during his limited assignment at Zeel. It is unfortunate that he has quit the company, however I am confident that his rich experience will bring greater value to BARC India. As he now moves on to a new challenge in a new role and domain, I wish him luck for his continued success.”

     

    Dasgupta added, “BARC India is moving closer to launch. Romil has an excellent background in broadcast, in telecom and in other industries. He was already associated with BARC India as part of its commercial committee and hence is well initiated in the processes.     MUMBAI: Avon Beauty Products India has appointed Romulus Marian Sirbu as the managing director with effect from 7 July 2014.

     

    An industry veteran, Sirbu will be responsible for the strategic growth and sustainable increase of Avon’s market share in India. His extensive knowledge and global experience will help develop and implement business strategies to meet the company’s growth, market share and profitability objectives.

He then moved out for a brief period to gain differentiated perspective of the industry and was associated with Life Care, as its CEO, overseeing the business in Romania and Hungary.

    MUMBAI: Big Magic has found a new creative director in Uditanshu Mehta, who brings with him an extensive and impressive portfolio of work in the media and entertainment space. Mehta will be responsible for all the on-air programming elements on the channel and ensure engaging comedy content for audiences. In his position, Mehta will report to Reliance Broadcast Network CEO Tarun Katial.

     

    Backed with honours in Political Science from the Delhi University and a diploma in film making from FTII, Pune, Mehta comes with 16 years of diverse experience in the television and film industry which comprises leading media and production houses like Miditech, UTV and Sab TV. Leading the programming function as part of the core team at Sab, Mehta was instrumental in changing the channels positioning from an entertainment channel to a comedy channel.

     

    Katial said, “Uditanshu brings with him diverse experience and understands the pulse of audiences seeking comedy entertainment. We look forward to have him work closely with the team and lead the product to its next level of growth.”

     

    Speaking of his appointment, Mehta stated, “I’m looking forward to my new role. Nothing is more satisfying than to have audiences enjoy a television viewing experience layered with laughter.     Colors gets marketing head in Sapangeet Rajwant

    MUMBAI: Zee TV’s VP marketing Sapangeet Rajwant has decided to move on from the channel. She will be replacing Rajesh Iyer, who had quit as Colors’ marketing head in March, this year.

     

    According to a source, Rajwant’s last day at Zee was 11 July and she will take up the new role from 1 August.

     

    She was promoted to marketing head of Zee TV in April this year.

     

    With around 17 years of experience, she’s had a meaningful journey at Zeel which she joined in 2004 and has worked with various brands of the company since then. She had contributed to the networks’ second GEC – Zee Next, which shut shop after a year. She had also worked as the brand head of the Hindi movie channels of the network – Zee Cinema, Zee PAC and worked on the strategy of the channel and developing the strategic time table for the channel.

     

    Prior to joining Zeel, she had worked with CS Direkt Events as branch head and Hero Corporate Services as a manager. Rajwant holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management; Sales and Marketing Information Technology from Amity Business School.

    Raj Television appoints S Jeyaseelan as CFO

    MUMBAI: Raj Television Network has got a new chief financial officer (CFO). In a statement to the BSE, the Network has said that as recommended by audit committee and remuneration committee of the company as well as after approval by Board meeting that was held on 28 April, S Jeyaseelan has been appointed as the CFO of the company.

     

    His appointment is effective from 1 April 2014. Jeyaseelan was earlier the company’s manager of finance since the last 19 years.

     

    Raj Television is a 20 year old company based in Chennai and promoted by four brothers. Recently, the company was on a lookout for equity investors to fund its growth plan by raising Rs 200 crore through stake sale.

     

    Raj Television Network operates 12 channels in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi.

    Top-lining the announcement, Shivaji Dasgupta, an industry veteran of two decades, has played a key role in green-lighting and producing some of the finest and most critically acclaimed films of the last decade. With hands-on production experience to boot, Dasgupta’s impressive filmography includes Gangs of Wasseypur, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Madras Cafe, Kahaani, LSD, Once Upon A Time in Mumbai and Chashme Baddoor amongst others. Dasgupta will run Abundantia’s creative & production business and will have additional charge of commercial affairs for his slate of films.

Sharma’s filmography includes recent hits like Lootera, The Dirty Picture, Shor In The City and Race. Sharma’s core strength of identifying and mentoring new talent has seen her successfully support work from first-time writers and directors in the past.

     

    Dasgupta and Sharma will manage their roles independently while reporting to Abundantia founder and CEO Vikram Malhotra.
