    Dilip Venkatraman joins iTV Network

    MUMBAI: iTV Network has announced yet another appointment in the leadership team by getting onboard Dilip Venkatraman as its group chief operating officer, strategy and business development.

     

    As part of his new mandate he will be responsible for planning strategic solutions and business development for the network. He will be reporting to iTV Network managing director Kartikeya Sharma.

     

    Welcoming Venkatraman on board, Sharma said, “I am delighted to welcome Dilip on board as the new group COO. His strong track record of delivering growth and understanding of the industry, brands and advertisers will be a great asset for us as he joins us at this juncture of aggressive growth.”

     

    On joining the  network, Venkatraman said, “iTV Network is now at a very exciting point in its journey where it is all set to emerge as theIndia’s most profitable and largest TV News Network. I am looking forward to drive the growth momentum and add significant contribution to strengthen the network through innovative and effective strategic solutions.”

     

    Prior to this, Venkatraman was the CEO of CNN-IBN and IBN7, owned by the Network18 group. With over 23 years of profound corporate experience, including three years in USA he held many key positions at the India Today Group and the Zee Network. A Graduate in Public Administration, he also did his management programme from IIM Bangalore, and the Advanced Management Program from the Harvard Business School, Boston.

    MUMBAI: L&K Saatchi & Saatchi has appointed Snehasis Bose as senior vice president, planning.

    He will be operating from the Delhi office.

Over the years Snehasis has lead key projects like Tata Docomo, Pepsi, Airtel, Fidelity Mutual Funds and many other renowned brands.

    DEN Networks gets new CEO in Pradeep Parameswaran

    MUMBAI: Multi system operator (MSO) DEN Networks has roped in Pradeep Parameswaran as its new chief executive officer (CEO). The position was left vacant after SN Sharma, one of the founding members of DEN Networks quit in September 2014.

     

    Parameswaran   joins   DEN  from McKinsey  and  Co  where  he  was  a partner  and  was  leading  the telecoms,  media  and  technology practice  in  India  and  of  the  operations  and  technology  function  within  telecoms,  media  and technology in Asia.

     

    He holds an engineering   degree from   Mumbai   University   with a Masters in Management Studies from Jamnalal Bajaj and an MBA from Vanderbilt University in the US. Besides McKinsey, he has also worked with Hindustan Unilever and AT Kearney.

    Leo Burnett India appoints Aman Mannan as group ECD

    MUMBAI: Leo Burnett India has appointed Aman Mannan as group executive creative director. Mannan will be based at Leo Burnett India’s head office in Mumbai and will work closely with Leo Burnett India chief creative officer RajDeepak Das towards creating work that strongly reflects the agency’s human kind philosophy.  

    Speaking on his appointment, Das said, “I am really excited about Aman joining us as this further strengthens our creative team that is not only young but also extremely talented. Aman brings with him a lot of positive energy and newer ways of storytelling that will help us find the right solutions to our clients’ problems.”

    Mannan joins from DDB Mudra where he was executive creative director. Prior to DDB Mudra, he has had stints with McCann Erickson and Interface Communications. In a career that spans more than a decade, he has worked across categories on brands such as Union Bank of India, Future Group, Godrej No. 1, Lipton, HBO, ICICI Lombard, Saffola, Parachute, Onida, Nerolac, Radio Mirchi, Tata Indicom, NDTV, Mahindra and Mahindra (Scorpio, Bolero, Maxx), Nerolac and Blue Star to name a few.

    Mannan’s work has won him accolades in both international and national circuits including the prestigious Cannes, Emvies, London International Awards, Abbys and Mirchi Kaan Awards.

    MUMBAI: Continuing its growth plans, ITV Network, has got on board Arun Aggrawal as the group CFO. This is Aggarwal’s second stint with the Network, after a brief stint overseas for the launch of a 24×7 English news channel. Prior to his overseas assignment, he was holding the same portfolio at ITV Network, for almost two years and was actively involved during the takeover of ‘NewsX’.

     

    As part of his mandate, he will be overseeing all aspects of financial operations for the network.

     

    A Chartered Accountant, Company Secretary and Graduate in Law, Aggrawal comes with professional experience spanning over 25 years with 15 years of exhaustive experience in the media sector. He was also associated with Zee Network for nearly 10 years holding various positions including CFO, senior vice president and vice president. At Zee he was responsible for the crucial functions of credit control, finance and commercial.

     

    ITV Network managing director Kartikeya Sharma said, “The decades of experience that Arun brings with him is invaluable for ITV Network.  We are positive that Arun’s strong financial leadership in the media and entertainment sector, and his skills and relationships will surely help the network reach the next level.”

    Times Television Network appoints Sandeep Bharadwaj as head distribution

    MUMBAI: Times Television Network (TTN) has announced the appointment of Sandeep Bharadwaj as head –distribution, all platforms. Based out of Gurgaon, Bharadwaj will lead and drive domestic subscription revenue and carriage for the various channels under the TTN portfolio – Times Now, ET Now, Movies Now, Romedy Now, Movies Now+ and ZoOm.  He will report directly to TTN CFO Jagdish Mulchandani.

    Mulchandani said, “With his extensive experience in subscription revenue and carriage, Sandeep is a welcome addition to the dynamic, motivated team at Times Television Network. We believe that with his skill-set, he will drive commendable growth for the network.”

    Bharadwaj joins Times Television Network after a successful stint at Star India as senior vice president where he was instrumental in increasing penetration of the channels whilst meeting annual revenue and collection objectives.  Prior to Star India, Bharadwaj was associated with renowned companies like Adinos India (ONIDA), Media Pro, Star Den and IndusInd Media.

     Commenting on his new position Bharadwaj said, “I am extremely happy to join a media conglomerate of such repute. As the network begins a new phase of growth, I look forward to working with the highly motivated individuals at TTN to build a greater network in the industry.”

     Bharadwaj holds an MBA in marketing from Pune University. With over two decades in broadcast distribution, subscription revenue and carriage, Bharadwaj will add great value to the growth of the Times Television Network.

    Dinesh Akula quits TV9, joins Express TV

    MUMBAI: It seems to be a season of movements in the news television sector. And the latest to join the long list is former TV9 executive editor Dinesh Akula.

     

    Akula has joined a Hyderabad based start up channel Express TV as senior VP-editorial and operations. In his new role, Akula will be responsible for the channel’s overall editorial content that goes on-air. “I will also be looking at the two websites-Telugu and English, of the network, apart from overlooking the entire operations,” says Akula.

     

    On the future plans, he says, “Well, it’s been just a couple of days since I joined and so currently I am understanding the structure of the organisation and then will start working on the network’s future plans.”

     

    Express TV is looking at launching two news channels in Tamil and Kannada languages. Not only this, the network is also hoping to launch an entertainment channel soon. “The biggest challenge this year was covering the general elections, and after that I was looking at changing my profile and Express TV gave me that opportunity,” he adds.

     

    The move has come after he spent close to seven years in TV9 where he was responsible for the on-air content, the look and feel, planning and execution of content strategies for TV9 Telugu and was earlier handling national news desk  for all the six TV9 channels. 

     

    With over 20 years of experience in media, Akula has worked with BBC in Bristol, Sky News in London, Star News (Now ABP News), Times of India and Hindustan Times in India among others.

    Rajiv Mishra to hold charge of CSR in addition to media in Samsung

    NEW DELHI: Senior journalist Rajiv Mishra, who had joined Samsung Electronics in August as vice president (media) of its south west Asia office in Gurgaon has been given the additional charge of heading the CSR division in India.
     
    Samsung said it lay strong emphasis on corporate social responsibility, which involves extending the company’s legacy of innovation to create value for society by addressing societal needs and challenges. Through the CSR initiatives Samsung hopes to open newer possibilities that positively transform people’s lives.
     
    Speaking about the development, Samsung south west Asia senior vice president H W Bang said: “At present, our CSR programmes focus in the areas of education, culture, sports, social welfare and community development. I am confident that under Rajiv’s leadership, Samsung’s CSR initiatives will cross new milestones.”
     
    Samsung has, over the years, leveraged its legacy of technology innovation through philanthropic initiatives focused on helping communities lead healthier, smarter and more sustainable lives. In addition to skill development among youth, Samsung also places substantial focus on providing underprivileged children a chance at quality education and in helping bridge the digital gap that exists in India.

     
    This is done through Samsung Smart Schools, set up in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas across the length and breadth of the country. The Smart Classes are equipped with an interactive Samsung whiteboard, Samsung laptops for the students, a printer, wi-fi and a power backup since power outages are common. Over 198 Smart Schools have been set up to date in India, benefitting 75,000 secondary class students. Samsung continues to expand the programme based on positive feedback received from the schools on the impact on students learning and attendance.

     
    Before joining Samsung, Mishra had been chief executive officer of Lok Sabha TV for about three years.

     
    Mishra had begun his 21 year long career in media at Hindustan Times before switching over to the electronic media.

     
    He began as manager –programming in Star, then joined as senior manager – corporate in Zee TV, Reliance Infocomm as general manager – corporate affairs, News 24 (BAG Films and Media), as COO and director, India News as COO. He launched Times Now of the Times of India group in USA as India Now while working for CineMaya Media of USA.

     
    Mishra was with Lok Sabha TV as CEO in an official rank and status of additional secretary.

     
    Mishra is also the founder and first president of Association of Radio Operators for India (AROI). AROI is the industry representative body of all FM radio broadcasters/stations of India. He also founded Association of Regional Television Broadcasters of India

    MUMBAI: Multi system operator (MSO) Siti Cable has roped in Bibhash Jha as its head-content & carriage. Jha in his capacity will provide a fillip to the growth momentum of Siti Cable. The MSO is taking giant strides in this exciting phase of digitisation and Jha will play an instrumental role in this leap from analog to absolute digitisation.

     

    Jha has over 20 years of distribution work experience with 15 years at Star Sports India, where he played an instrumental role in the transition of ESPN channel to Star Sports India. In 2007, he played a key role in the launch of new sports channel Star Cricket. Under his ambit, a separate vertical of MSO business was created which was profitable in its very first year of operation. He was also responsible for the distribution of sports channel for Star on pan India basis.
