    Zee TV’s mobile app crosses ‘1 million downloads’ mark

    MUMBAI: Zee TV‘s interactive mobile app for its non-fiction shows has crossed a milestone of one million downloads according to Mobilox Innovations.

    Leveraging the success of Zee TV‘s popular non-fiction shows like ‘Dance India Dance‘, ‘DID L‘il Masters‘ and ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa‘, the mobile app boasts of a wide array of interactive features that engage users, offering them a unique window of experiencing these shows.

    According to the channel, Zee TV‘s current non-fiction property ‘India‘s Best Dramebaaz‘ is delivering overwhelming response from viewers across India. Hence, the app is now titled ‘India‘s Best Dramebaaz‘ app and is available on all key digital platforms such as iOS, Android, Blackberry and Symbian.

    In one of the mobile innovations, Zee TV has converted the original mobile app created for ‘DID Season 3‘ into apps for each successive season of its ongoing non-fiction shows, thereby retaining its original user base, while adding more users with each new season.

    Zee Entertainment Enterprises marketing head-national channels Akash Chawla said, “Zee TV‘s shows have consistently topped viewership scorecards, making them the rulers of the on-air space. Even off-air, it is gratifying to note that our non-fiction shows have emerged as the front-runners of the digital space with their mobile app crossing a milestone of 1 million downloads. At a time when ‘on-demand‘ entertainment is the order of the day, we have been successful in providing our viewers with content that has kept them engrossed and engaged.”

    Following a successful collaboration for the mobile application of its previous non-fiction shows, Zee TV has continued its partnership with Mobilox Innovations to develop the WAP and app technology for ‘India‘s Best Dramebaaz‘.

    In addition to keeping the tech-savvy youth connected with their favourite shows, the app provides users with exclusive behind-the-scenes peeks into the shows, connecting them with contestants, judges and skippers. The live chats with judges and personalised dance tutorials by skippers of ‘DID L‘il Masters 2‘ have been crowd favourites while the easy voting feature has seen the contestants register a staggering number of votes on every season of Zee TV‘s non-fiction shows.

    Twitter launches app for music lovers

    MUMBAI: Twitter users can now listen to the top songs by the artists and people they follow on the site. Twitter has launched its new app #music for the music lovers.

    The app will recommend popular songs and will bring artists music related activity on their twitter profile which can be seen by the followers.

    Twitter has tied up with three music service providers for this app- iTunes, Spotify or Rdio. The social networking site is also looking forward to associate with other music companies as well.

    #NowPlaying helps the followers to check what has been tweeted by the artists and people they follow on Twitter. By tapping the artist‘s “avatar” on the chart, fans can see their top songs and simultaneously they can hit the play button to listen the songs.

    Twitter #music is available on the App Store and Twitter is also starting its web version soon on music.twitter.com.

    The app has been only launched in the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. Twitter is also planning to bring the service to Android as well, as to more countries.

    MUMBAI : Men‘s lifestyle magazine For Him Magazine India has recently launched its app on Windows phone 8 for free. According to FHM Windows phone was the natural choice for the company. The app has special features such as the lockscreen where the images continually change on a schedule pre-set by the user.

    It can be downloaded from the Windows Phone store where the content will be uploaded twice a week which it will include different sections like cover girl, the girl next door, an extended image gallery, jokes, witty one liners and the latest on bikes, cars and gadgets as well as contests.

    To access favorite sections of FHM users can pin the sections onto the start screen and directly access one‘s favorite sections. If one is more interested in gadgets than cars or in the Girl Next Door rather than the Cover Girl, one can increase and decrease the tile accordingly. Readers can choose their favorite pictures available on the FHM app and set them as a lockscreen (aka a wallpaper). Besides choosing their lockscreen wallpaper, readers can also access content exclusive to the app from FHM India.

    MUMBAI: Online provider of news, information, communication, entertainment and shopping services Rediff.com India Limited has modified and upgraded its Rediff News App service. Users will now be able to access news from over 30,000 Indian and International sources for free by downloading the news app.

    As part of the enhancements, the app also aggregates news from top news sources such as Reuters, The New York Times, Washington Post, The Times of India, The Economic Times, and The Hindu.

    In order to make sure that the app can be used by maximum mobile users, Rediff has released multiple versions of the app for mobile devices ranging from those using the latest versions of iOS, BlackBerry, Windows 8, and Android, to feature phones using the classical Java and Symbian operating systems. Each version is designed to provide the best user experience on the respective operating system and provides aggregated news content from multiple sources.

    The app has a tiled interface design that displays the latest news with images and a short description across popular categories such as top news, world, business, sports, cricket, and entertainment.     SPT Networks unveils second screen app to accompany ‘Hannibal‘

    MUMBAI: Sony Pictures Television (SPT) Networks has unveiled a customised second screen viewing app to accompany the premiere of their hotly anticipated drama, ‘Hannibal’, which it co-commissioned for its global portfolio of channels.

    Developed by SPT Networks’ digital arm, the ‘Hannibal’ app will initially be made available in local languages to accompany the series on AXN channels serving pan Asia Spanish-speaking Latin America, Brazil, Spain and Portugal. It will be the first scripted second screen app in several territories.

    SPT’s second screen ‘Hannibal’ app will synchronise to each episode as it airs live, and also use audio watermarking technology that will trigger it to synchronise during any DVR and VOD playback. The app will be available through iTunes for all iOS mobile phones and tablets to accompany international premieres on AXN channels.

    Users will be able to access exclusive ‘Hannibal’ content, learn more about characters, watch relationships unfold, and access behind-the-scenes footage. Integrated social media elements will enable viewers to interact directly with the show and other fans in a hosted ‘Hannibal’ community.

    InMobi introduces App Publish Distribution platform

    MUMBAI: Bangalore-based InMobi, an independent mobile ad network, has announced the launch of App Publish, an Android app store distribution platform.

    The free-to-use tool will allow Android developers to publish their apps across global app stores in just a few clicks.

    According to the company while app discovery on Google Play is a challenge for developers and users alike, alternative channels such as GetJar, Mobango, Slide Me and several third-party app stores based in China are estimated to drive billions of downloads every year.

    While these outside sources help developers reach millions of users in new markets, publishing to each app store independently presents several significant challenges like- Navigating complex international laws, various platforms‘ widely varied aesthetic and informational requirements, difficulties tracking and reporting download and install figures, the challenges of collecting revenue from smaller or international platforms in a timely manner.

    InMobi‘s App Publish platform will allow developers to avoid these and other pain points that come from deploying an Android app globally, using proven intelligent technology to reduce the cost and effort to submit to multiple app stores.

    InMobi head of product management for developer platforms Girish Prabhu said, “Paying for position and app discovery on Google Play is becoming increasingly expensive and ultra-competitive. The launch of App Publish serves to meet the mass desire from app developers to compete in multiple channels in a simple, profitable way. Early beta testers of App Publish have seen 30 per cent more downloads through these new app store channels.”
