    Kabaddi forms the subject of new feature film being released next month

    NEW DELHI: With Kabaddi getting tonnes of attention as a sports format in the country, Bollywood is now set to release a feature film on the game.

     

    Set to release on 7 November, Badlapur Boys will be produced by Karrm Movie. The movie revolves around about some boys of Badlapur village, who breathe and live Kabaddi and aspire to make a name out of the game, not only for themselves, but also for their village. However, the protagonist’s dream is slightly different and it binds the film right till the end. 

     

    Annu Kapoor plays the role of a Kabaddi coach in the film. The hero of the film, Nishshan, has acted in the film David and Subhash Ghai’s Cycle Kick, along with many other Malyalam movies. Badlapur Boys also stars Sharanya Mohan, who has acted in more than 16 South Indian movies as the main lead but this is her first Hindi film. 

     

    Although this is the directorial debut of the film’s director Shailesh Verma, he has written various daily soaps and movies, including Salman Khan starrer Veer. He is also planning to start his next movie right after the release of Badlapur Boys

     

    Actress Kishori Shahane plays the hero’s mother and Pooja Gupta, who had starred in Vicky Donor, Mickey Virus and Oh My God, is also a part of the film. Other artistes who worked in the movie are Boloram Das, Nitin Jadhav, Shashank Udaypurkar, Mazhar Khan, Ankit Sharma, Vineet, among many more. 

     

    Music of the film has been composed by Shamir Tandon and Sachin Gupta. Words to the melodies have been given by lyricist Sameer Anjaan, which have been sung by singers Sukhwinder Singh, Shaan, Mahalaxmi Iyer, Shreya Ghoshal, Javed Ali, Ritu Pathak. Choreography has been done by Saroj Khan.   

     

    Badlapur Boys is Karrm Movies’ first Hindi film. Their Marathi film Razakar is also ready to release.

    NEW DELHI: Sab has become the most profitable channel of the Sony chain with a revenue growth of 900 per cent in the last seven and a half years, according to senior EVP and business head Anooj Kapoor.

     

    Speaking on the sidelines of a new series being launched by Sab, he said viewership had gone up by 600 per cent in the same period in what he termed as the only channel that telecasts comedy and light-hearted family entertainment in the country.

     

    While the daily original programming is around three hours, the weekly programming is of twenty hours.

     

    Renowned character actor Annu Kapoor who is remembered for his ‘Antakshari’ series he launched, said he had always had an interest in music and ran the original series for thirteen years before other channels came up with other ideas for music-filled reality shows.

     

    Anooj Kapoor accompanied by Annu Kapoor announced the launch of a special Antakshari show on Sab that will involve the entire family from the youngest member to the grandparents in a fun-filled melodic musical game show titled Family Antakshari- Baithe Baithe Kya Kare.

     

    The show by Gajendra Singh from Saaibaba Productions will have Annu Kapoor seated on the prestigious position of Shri Antakshari, to be hosted by the talented Mantra and multi-faceted Sugandha Mishra.

     

    The one hour show will be aired on weekends at 8 pm from 27 September. The game will involve multiple interactive rounds with the contestants and the audience.

     

    Anooj Kapoor said,“At Sab we are always eager to offer innovative content to our loyal viewers. With Family Antakshari, we are presenting the traditional activity in a different style to involve every member of the family in the game.  True to the channel’s brand ideology of ‘Asli Mazaa Sab Ke Saath Aata Hai’, the show will highlight the positives of the joint family system. Participating families will enjoy Antakshari as they will be taken through a joyful ride of symphonies along with Annu Kapoor, Mantra and Sugandha. Gajendra has tasted success with his music shows across different genres and I am positive he shall repeat the same with Sab’s Family Antakshari. ”

     

    Singh said that the activity is loved by all irrespective of age. Says he, “We have designed innovative rounds to test the knowledge of our participants. Families across the country shall love to watch the show and be a part of the musical fest.”

     

    Family Antakshari will comprise multiple unique rounds for the contesting families such as the  karaoke round ‘bol ho gaye gol’ where the participants will be shown songs with missing words and they would need to sing the complete version. Another round, ‘Nautanki’, involves anchors enacting a famous scene/dance step from a movie and the participants need to guess and sing any song from that particular movie. A competition is not over without a fast-paced buzzer round, ‘Har Dhun kuchh kehti hai’ where participants need to identify the tune and sing the correct song. Another round would be ‘Aao Twist karein’.

     

    ‘AnnuJi Ki Googly’, a special round will have the judge fielding different questions and clues about Hindi movies and songs to the participating families and they will have to identify the same and sing the correct song to win points.

    MUMBAI: Producers Samir Karnik and Nitin Manmohan, who operate Top Angle Productions, have decided to release Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 on 7 June, next year.

    Going by the stupendous success of the first part, the producers are on a shooting spree with Dharmendra and his sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol taking active part in the shoots. They recently wrapped up the London Schedule on 4 December. The remaining portions will be shot in Varanasi early next year.

    According to Sunny, the London schedule was the longest schedule shot overseas for any film with the film extensively shot in Leicester and Birmingham.

    While the Deols will reprise their roles from the previous film, Neha Sharma and Kristina Akheeva will play the female leads.

    The film also features Johnny Lever, Anupam Kher, Annu Kapoor and Sucheta Khanna in pivotal roles. The Film is been directed by Sangeeth Sivan.

    Vivek Agnihotri to cast Bachchan and Naseer in his remake of 12 Angry Men

    MUMBAI: Vivek Agnihotri, who had earlier directed films like Chocolate (2005) and Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal, has signed Amitabh Bachchan and Naseeruddin Shah for his next film Twelve, a remake of Sidney Lumet‘s 1957 American drama film 12 Angry Men.

    The filmmaker is also planning to cast Om Puri, Paresh Rawal, Boman Irani, Pankaj Kapur and Annu Kapoor for the film.

    “It‘s a brilliant story, the action of which takes place within the confines of a single room. It‘s a classic play and every time it‘s been made into a film, it has won laurels,” said Agnihotri in a statement. The filmmaker has also conceded that he‘s spoken to every single person he has in mind.

    Interestingly, the film also marks the comeback of Ashutosh Gowariker to the acting field. Having started off with Kundan Shah‘s Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa in 1993, Gowariker also played a part in the detective series CID.

    MUMBAI: Producer Nitin Manmohan is set to launch Gali Gali Mein Chor Hai on 2 September under his banner One Up Entertainmnet.


    The film will be extensively shot in old Bhopal in a start-to-finish schedule.


    Gali Gali Mein Chor Hai is a satirical comment on the condition of common man today. Akshaye Khanna, playing the character of a cashier in a bank, gets in the whirlwind web of the common man‘s dilemma.
     
    His woes range from lack of time to lack of money to lack of connectivity and lack of will to find a way out through bribing. The outcome of his stubborn views are full of hilarious situations and comical satirical circumstances.


    Gali Gali Mein Chor Hai, directed by Rumy Jafry, stars Shriya Saran, Mughda Godse along with Annu Kapoor, Satish Kaushik, Akhilendra Mishra and Vijay Raaz.
