    Mumbai: Jio Studios and SVF Entertainment dropped the teaser of Bengali language film Athhoi offering a tantalizing glimpse into this eagerly anticipated cinematic experience. Capturing the essence of Shakespeare’s exploration of human emotions, Athhoi promises to be a compelling portrayal of love, deception, and rivalry in a modern setting.

    The teaser opens with the chilling line, “Every individual harbours animosity towards one another,” setting the tone for a narrative that intricately weaves together themes of honesty and love against a backdrop of intrigue and ambition.”

    In this adaptation, Sohini Sarkar breathes life into the spirited and intelligent character of Diya, reminiscent of Desdemona, while sirector Arna Mukhopadhyay brings depth and complexity to the role of Dr. Athhoi Lodha (Othello). Anirban Bhattacharya takes on the enigmatic character of Gogo, echoing the Iago from Shakespeare’s original work, and serves as the creative director of the film.

    Mumbai: JioCinema is all set to premiere the iconic documentary Ram Janmabhoomi Temple: The Return of a Splendid Sun on 25 January. Presented by Dilip Piramal and Amish Tripathi, written by Anirban Bhattacharya and Pranav Chaturvedi, the documentary takes the viewers through the history of the sacred land of Ayodhya and the events that marked the revolutionary phenomenon.

    hoichoi drops trailer for its 100th original ‘Tiktiki’

    Mumbai: Bengali entertainment platform hoichoi has unveiled the trailer for its 100th original “Tiktiki.” Directed by Dhrubo Banerjee, the web series is slated to premiere on 18 March. 

    The launch event celebrated the web debut of actor-director Kaushik Ganguly as the lead cast of the series, as well as the directorial debut of Banerjee on the platform. The show also features Anirban Bhattacharya alongside Ganguly for the first time.

    The trailer starts with suspense-laden visuals of a palace and goes on to show a meeting between the polar opposites, Soumendra Krishna Deb (played by Ganguly) and Milan Basak (played by Bhattacharya). Taking off on a cordial note, the meeting soon turns into a duel, absolute chaos as the characters begin to unveil themselves. The trailer ends with a gunshot, leaving the audience at a cliffhanger.

    The event also witnessed the launch of the “Tiktiki Game of Chess,” where players can challenge either of the two lead characters of the series. A maximum of 150 kills within 100 seconds, will give them a chance to win a coupon code offering 25 per cent discount on the hoichoi annual subscription. The game is available on the hoichoi app.

    TV9 Bangla announces mega Telethon to celebrate Bangaliana on 6 Feb

    Mumbai: TV9 Bangla is set to hold its landmark programme “Bangaliana Telethon” to celebrate the channel’s first anniversary. The programme will be aired LIVE on 6 February (Sunday) 2pm onwards.

    The telethon will celebrate the achievements of Bengalis across the globe as well as conduct candid discussions on their glorious past and present. There will be a freewheeling discussion in which eminent, and accomplished Bengalis in various fields such as literature, culture, music, films, theatre, politics, business, industry, and women empowerment will participate.

    Hosted by the TV9 Network’s CEO Barun Das, this telethon will be co-hosted by celebrities such as filmmaker Gautam Ghosh and actors Arpita Chatterjee, Anirban Bhattacharya and Ritabhari Chakraborty.

    The discussion will begin with broad- spectrum sessions divided into 11 segments on the significance of the past of the Bengalis, where they stand now and what is the way forward. The Bengal Renaissance, the period of awakening and arguably the golden period of achievements of Bengalis, would be a reference point of the discussions and how the race surged ahead to lead the nation in virtually all aspects of public life and creativity, the channel said in a a statement.

    TV9 Network CEO Barun Das said, “TV9 Bangla would mobilise and sensitise about 10 crore Bengalis in the quest for their glory. To deliberate on the present and think of a roadmap for the future. We intend to set up an advisory board consisting of eminent personalities who are the legends in their respective fields. The exclusive board would enrich the endeavor and guide us through this journey for our mission seeking rejuvenation of Bangaliana.”

    Some of the deliberations will focus on whether the lack of entrepreneurial spirit of Bengalis or their quest for a safe and secure life as an employee doing a job poses an impediment to their entrepreneurship, the relevance of Bengalis in national political arena, the rather small market for Bengali films and books, the lack of “professionalism” of Bengali theatre, the position of women empowerment among Bengalis, the state of the state of the music industry in Bengal.
