    Twitter sports partnership APAC head Aneesh Madani quits

    MUMBAI: Twitter head of sports partnerships- Asia Pacific Aneesh Surender Madani has put down his papers after working for over five years. He started his journey in November 2013 heading the sports partnership for the Indian market.

    He announced this development on Twitter saying, “It’s time for the next adventure! @Twitter, you will always have my heart. #LoveWhereYouWorked,” he wrote in the post.

    Prior to this, he was the senior manager, Neo Sports Broadcast for around seven months. He also had stints with Nimbus Communication. He worked with Leo Burnett India as a brand strategy associate.

    CPL 2018 becomes first T20 league to stream live on Twitter

    MUMBAI: The Hero Caribbean Premier League has recently announced its collaboration with Twitter to live stream all matches of the 2018 season in 54 countries.  Caribbean Perimier League is one of the annual T20 cricket  tournaments held in the Caribbean. This will be the first time where cricket fans in these countries will be able to watch full matches on Twitter and join the live conversation at the same time.

    Fans from India will also be able to enjoy over 150 highlight video clips from the league. Currently the tournament is sponsored by Hero MotoCorp.

    Hero MotoCorp head corporate communication Bharatendu Kabi said, “We are delighted to extend our association with Twitter for the second consecutive year for the Hero Caribbean Premier League. Cricket fans in India and around the world now prefer to watch live streams of their favourite matches at their convenience and we are glad to play a key role in facilitating this. Twitter is today one of the most preferred media for the youth and our continued partnership with them is a signal of Hero’s commitment to bringing sports to where the fans are.”

    Through the partnership, premium video content highlights from #CPL18 will be made available on Twitter in India and globally. The in-stream video sponsorship collaboration builds on the success of the last season and treats fans on Twitter to the best moments from #CPL18.

The live stream of CPL matches will be available to logged-in and logged-out cricket fans on Twitter and connected devices via @CPL on Twitter.

    MUMBAI: FIFA today launched a new Twitter account @FIFAHindi — the maiden global sports federation to do so — to cater to football fans in the most widely-spoken language in the host country — India.

    This FIFA U-17 World Cup is set to make history as it will be the first FIFA competition in India. It will also be the first participation of an Indian national team in a FIFA competition. Now, FIFA and Twitter are embarking on another ‘first’.

    The Twitter account will keep fans updated on the progress of the 52-match tournament, taking them on a journey across the six venues, as 24 teams compete for the trophy. It will also update fans about important information related to their fan journey, and will retweet the best fan tweets, as #FootballTakesOver in India.

    FIFA chief communications officer Fabrice Jouhaud said that they were committed to deepening their engagement with fans around the world.

    FIFA knew, he said, the Indian fans were not only excited about the World Cup, but were huge supporters as well. FIFA would therefore be closely analysing the success of the Twitter account over the next four weeks, he added.

    Football had a significant place on Twitter with a strong community and constantly growing conversations, said Twitter head of sports partnerships – Asia Pacific Aneesh Madani.

    With the launch of the Hindi Twitter account, FIFA was transcending the barriers of language and enabling even more access, as the first-ever FIFA event in the country would kick off, Madani added.

    Raheel Khursheed joins Twitter India

    MUMBAI: Although Twitter India started its operations two years ago, it has always kept a low profile in the country. Subtly it keeps adding people to its organisation that is currently headed by Rishi Jaitley who is the director of the social media here. The recent appointment is former Times Now and CNN-IBN senior correspondent Raheel Khursheed as head of news, politics and government.

     

    According to a MediaNama report he will provide front-line technical support to journalists, politicians and governmental agencies. Twitter sources confirmed that he had joined the company but could not reveal any more details.

     

    Both Jaitley and Khursheed have mentioned his appointment on their Twitter pages. Prior to this Khursheed was with change.org where he was heading the communication strategy around campaigns in India and building its brand.

     

    The article also states that his role would be to work on expanding Twitter’s relation with journalists, government officials and politicians to increase their usage of the popular social media website.

     

    Twitter India has also hired Arvinder Gujral to head its mobile business development for India and south East Asia, Aneesh Madani to handle sports partnerships and Pratiksha Rao as associate partnerships manager.
