Veteran journo Rana Yashwant joins Live Times’ for weekend offerings

MUMBAI: Veteran television journo Rana Yashwant, famed for his bullish tell-it-like-it-is style, has inked a juicy deal with Hindi news channel Live Times. The partnership will see the straight-talking anchor front two weekend programmes across both television and digital platforms, whilst also getting his fingers into the channel’s special projects pie.

Live Times bigwigs insist this is far more than just another editorial appointment—it’s a statement of intent in their crusade for credible reporting. Yashwant, the brain behind popular show Ardh Satya, brings a whopping two-and-a-half decades of media experience to the table.

Dilip Singh, founder, CEO and editor-in-chief of the channel, pulled no punches about the significance of the hire: “In an era when fake news is spreading like wildfire, Live Times stands firmly for fact-based journalism. Rana Yashwant’s joining is not just a matter of joining an experienced editor, but an extension of a reliable editorial thinking.”

Singh added  that the channel, built on the holy trinity of “credibility, transparency and editorial independence,” continues to bolster its ranks with heavyweight journalists and subject experts, making it an increasingly formidable force in the media landscape.

Yashwant himself seemed please with his new gig, declaring: “‘In today’s era, there is an abundance of information, but there is a huge lack of trust. In such a situation, Live Times’ gives priority to facts, transparency and public interest. This platform believes in creating effective content instead of making noise. This is not just a new role for me, but a responsibility – to do such journalism that not only informs, but also empowers people and ensures accountability.”

Anchor reinforces leadership in load bearing with a new brand film

Mumbai: Anchor by Panasonic, one of India’s leading manufacturers of electricals

has launched a new film cementing its position as a leader when it comes to load bearing.

The campaign was conceived for the ongoing cricket season and uses a very insightful story to land the importance of the product offerings. Indians are anyway very socially connected people.

This sense of community gets further amplified when it comes to Cricket.

In any locality, housing society, or circle of friends, there is always that one home that plays host to all the big matches. The viewing parties albeit always fun, come with their share of eccentric characters, over-friendly neighbours and friends who not just use, but abuse the hospitality of this host.

In a light-hearted way, this film showcases how these gatherings often lead to an excessive spike in the electric load.

Sunil Narula, Senior VP – sales & marketing said “The Wondrlab team has excelled in vividly showcasing our category. At Anchor by Panasonic, our steadfast belief has always been to offer our consumers top-quality, technologically advanced products. With this latest campaign, we’ve elevated our brand positioning, further emphasizing our industry leadership.”

Wondrlab co-founder and chief creative officer Amit Akali said, “Historically, wires, MCBs and switches have been a low-involvement category for the consumer. The creative challenge here was to bring Anchor by Panasonic’s load-bearing products to the fore in an engaging manner. We operated on a quintessentially Indian insight of being magnanimous and welcoming of our near and dear ones, irrespective of the load that comes with it, electric load included. In the film, we have portrayed an endearingly relatable instance centred around communal cricket-watching and contextual occasion.”

The Switches, MCBs, and Wires from Anchor by Panasonic are made with Japanese Technology that empowers them to bear these excessive loads and thereby make such wonderful events just that, wonderful.

Diabetes can be tackled with a balanced and healthy diet, an active lifestyle, timely prescribed medications, regular health checkups, and planned doctor visits. And now accessing healthcare is just a click away with Tata 1mg which offers a diverse product portfolio for diabetes management. We are quite excited to partner with NDTV for making this campaign widespread among the masses”

In India, one in eleven people suffer from diabetes. According to recent data, one in every 3 samples tested at Tata 1mg labs in the past eight months shows high blood sugar. This indicates high incidence & increased requirement of good diagnostics services for diabetes in our country. Diabetes imposes lifelong demands on people living with the disease and their families. Because people with diabetes do better when they take active control of their own care, it is of paramount importance that they receive ongoing, high-quality diabetes support that is tailored to their needs and delivered by skilled health professionals.”

Verma added, “The Tata 1mg platform has a variety of solutions for diabetic patients. This includes custom lab packages, care plan memberships where members can get rapid delivery, free shipping, extra discounts on prescription medicines etc. With this campaign, we hope to raise greater awareness among patients about the benefits associated with effectively managing the disease and how Tata 1mg is playing a pivotal role in resolving their health concerns by being readily accessible.”

World Diabetes Day is an important day to amplify the message of diabetes control and management, and we are glad to play our part in spreading greater awareness about the disease. Over the years, diabetes has become a major health concern in the country, and through this collaboration, we hope to restore hope in diabetic patients and urge them to take charge and fight this disease with the right guidance and approach.”

The future of electrical product market is very promising, with great opportunities in the utilities, industrial, residential, and commercial sectors among others, we at Anchor by Panasonic are well prepared to deliver and own the Indian electrical space on the back of our unique product offerings,” Sharma added.

Anchor wires and cables are built with high current-carrying capacity that safeguards all connected devices and heavy appliances even during prolonged usage. Anchor by Panasonic’s MCBs are made with the fastest trip mechanism which ensures the timely protection of connected appliances and homes from overloads, short circuits and leakage current.

Speaking about the campaign, Leo Burnett MD – India and chief creative officer – South Asia Rajdeepak Das said, “The ‘Naye India ke Badhte Load ke Liye’ positioning accurately sums up the need gap that Anchor by Panasonic is trying to fill with its high-quality wires and cables, and MCBs. As is a given with all our work, we have transformed the brief into a Humankind idea, and the result is for all to see.”

Second season of Manish Paul’s Science of Stupid to air on National Geographic

NEW DELHI: Actor and anchor Manish Paul, who had hosted the first season of Science of Stupid last year, is all set to launch the second season of this quirky and funny show on National Geographic channel. Interestingly Paul has shot some of the funny videos himself for the second season.

Science of Stupid basically showcases recordings of people getting into accidents and Paul explaining in his funny style as to why they occurred.

When the talented actor showed a couple of videos to the show’s creative team, they could not control their laughter and instantly agreed to showcase them on the show.

Paul, who travelled a lot recently, has videos of him bungee jumping, surfing and jet skiing among others. “These videos have turned out to be quite funny. When I went jet skiing in Istanbul, I gave my cam pro to a person and told him to shoot me. When I came back and saw the video, it only had the face of the guy shooting the video and everything else except me! In Dubai, when I went surfing I told my brother to shoot the video. Somehow I was not able to get into the right position. I was getting confused about how to hold the board and get into the water. Finally, I managed, but in the video – I look hilarious,” he says.

The actor shot a video of the person sitting next to him on flight snoring loudly. “It was disturbing to all of us, so I shot the video and I showed it to the guy, who burst out laughing. Usually we have people sending in their videos; this time I will be showing mine,” adds Manish.

India’s first transgender TV news anchor

MUMBAI: Five months after the Supreme Court ruled that transgender people will be recognised as a legal third gender, a television news station has recruited the country’s first transgender news anchor.

Working at Lotus News in Tamil Nadu, Padmini Prakash, first anchored on this Independence Day. Before joining the channel Prakash worked as a dancer as well as acted in Tamil soap operas.

Prakash told the Times of India that she had faced a lot of discrimination throughout her life, including being disowned by her family.

According to media reports, a month after she started, Padmini has become the face of the Coimbatore-based Lotus News Channel’s daily 7pm special bulletin.

The apex court said the transgender would be allowed admission to educational institutions and given employment on the basis that they belonged to the third gender category. They would be considered as OBCs, the judgment said.
