    Amuz Distribution announces fall slate for MIPCOM

    Mumbai: Amuz Distribution, chief revenue and strategy officer Alex Avon announced the company’s latest acquisitions which they will take to MIPCOM, numbering in over 1,300 hours of programming in multiple genres: dramedy, comedy, animation, docs, etc., including hundreds of hours from the newly acquired Just for Laughs Group.     Amuz Distribution makes FAST & OTT announcements

    Mumbai: Amuz Distribution chief revenue & strategy officer Alex Avon announced deals for FAST and OTT channels. Carlos Pacheco who was recently hired is the director of monetisation & OTT and is overseeing the FAST/OTT division. He came from the Just for Laughs (JFL) Group, most of which assets were just acquired by Amuz Distribution. New platforms that will carry JFL programming are Amazon Fire TV, Anoki and Local Now.

    Over the last two years, FAST channels of JFL programming have been in full expansion and by adding these new channels, the programs are now syndicated across 30 plus different platforms/markets (Samsung TV Plus, Roku, Xumo Play, Google TV, Rakuten TV, Sling TV and others). These FAST channels make Amuz Distribution one of the largest independent Canadian media companies with this high reach with FAST channels.

    Amuz Distribution and GoQuest Media strike new distribution deal

    Mumbai: Amuz Distribution’s chief revenue & strategy officer Alex Avon with Vivek Lath, GoQuest Media managing director Vivek Lath jointly announced that the companies have struck a deal to distribute their titles in various territories. The entire Amuz Distribution catalog in Asia, Oceania, MENA, and non-French speaking African territories while some titles from GoQuest, to be named later, will be represented in Canada and the U.S.

    Titles from Amuz Distribution include multiple award-winning poly-handicapped family dramedy series About Antoine; hilarious real estate comedy series Counter Offer; redemptive dramedy series Larry; and mystery series Valmont, among other feel-good tv series.

    Avon stated: “Amuz Distribution is thrilled to partner with GoQuest Media and expand our reach. They have the right connections in Asia, Oceania, MENA and non-French speaking territories to share our premium catalog of award-winning dramedies, comedies and feel-good programs with new audiences.     Amuz Distribution appoints Carlos Pacheco as director of monetisation & OTT

    Mumbai: Amuz Distribution’s chief revenue officer Alex Avon announced that, through its parent company of ComediHa!, the company acquired the entire catalog from the Just For Laughs Group and hired Carlos Pacheco as director of monetisation & OTT. The Just For Laugh Group assets increase the Amuz Distribution catalog by over 1,000 hours of comedy programming with brands: Juste pour rire, Just For Laughs, the Gags, and their audio-visual catalogue.

    Carlos Pacheco comes to Amuz Distribution with over 18 years of international entertainment media experience in content production, distribution, media buying and strategy. He came directly from his role as director of OTT / FAST channel strategy and operations for Just For Laughs where he led the development and execution of the company’s OTT and FAST channel strategy, overseeing content programming, distribution, and partnerships. From 2013 to 2018, Pacheco was director of partnerships for Temple Street’s then-recently launched Boat Rocker Studios. He played a pivotal role in the launch of both their online rights management system and launched several successful YouTube channels, including The Next Step and Oh Yum, among others.

    Amuz Distribution announces remake deal with Tucker Tooley Entertainment

    Mumbai: Amuz Distribution’s global distribution VP Alex Avon, has announced a format license deal with Tucker Tooley Entertainment for the U.S. territory for The Boys —  a sports-themed Friendship-based factual show.

    The Boys is a scripted factual comedy series about friendship, life, love, and sports. Centering around a group of friends from different walks off life — from surgeons to police officers — they face life’s challenges together on and off the sports’ field. For eleven guys, Monday is their favorite day of the week when these part-time gladiators pull on, with pride and some difficulty, a jersey emblazoned with their team crest THE BOYS. These old timers continue to play “the world’s greatest game” and meet at Stan’s Bar, to down a pitcher of brew. They hang out, argue, complain, throw fists, and eventually hug and make up. The Boys is a prime-time comedy series and was one of the biggest French-Canadian TV franchises in Canada. During its run, it had a 38 per cent market share on Radio-Canada TV with 73 TV episodes and 5 movies under its belt.

    Amuz Distribution announces format licensing deal at MIPCOM with We Make Productions

    Mumbai:   Amuz Distribution’s Alex Avon, VP of global distribution announced a celebrity entertainment format license deal with We Make Productions for France and Belgium. In Lieu of Flowers, is a  primetime hit in Quebec on ICI Radio-Canada Télé. The original producer is Zone 3 in Canada.

    In Lieu of Flowers is an irreverent show that laughs in the face of death. Based on the Celebrity Roast concept, each episode features a guest star who must bear witness to the totality of his or her life on stage through a flurry of comic numbers and a variety of sketches, as if they were attending their own hilarious mock funeral.

    Avon stated: “Amuz Distribution is delighted to partner with Bouchra Réjani and her studio, We Make Productions for the fantastically funny and heart-warming entertainment format of In Lieu of Flowers. It has been a long-running favourite in Quebec, and we are excited to see the localized version in Belgium and France.”

    Amuz Distribution announces acquisition of dramedy series Larry

    Mumbai: Amuz Distribution’s Alex Avon, vice president of global distribution announced the acquisition of Larry a dramedy produced by Avenue Productions. This is the second acquisition for Amuz Distribution (formerly ComediHa! Distribution until May of this year). Larry received six nominations at Prix Gémeaux and won “Best Sound – Fiction”; additionally, director Patrice Sauvé is nominated for the upcoming Prix RÉALS Awards. In other news, Amuz Distribution’s series About Antoine received three separate award wins and a nomination this month – the Prix Gémeaux, La Rochelle’s Festival de la Fiction and MIPCOM’s Diversify TV Award.

    Larry is a dramedy about a former undercover police officer, Larry, whose reputation was tarnished from a corruption case, is now a security guard at the ripe age of 62 and working in a culturally mixed Montreal neighborhood. He is left to navigate a new life with his disabled wife who recently became injured when caught between a gang shootout. Larry, along with his quirky neighbors, tries to uncover the identities of those who were responsible for his wife while trying to make the best of his situation and redeem his reputation.

    Avenue Productions producer Josée Desrosiers added, “Amuz Distribution is the perfect partner for Avenue Productions.     Amuz Distribution’s series About Antoine is the recipient of multiple awards this month. The Prix Gémeaux in Montreal bestowed the Best Supporting Role in a Comedy award for actress Micheline Bernard, while in La Rochelle at the Festival de la Fiction, About Antoine received the Best Francophone Foreign Fiction Award. And MIPCOM just named the series one of the finalists for its Diversify TV Awards, and the winner will be crowned on 17 October at a ceremony during MIPCOM.

    Amuz Distribution & Pixcom announce distribution deal for comedy series, Counter Offer for four seasons

    Mumbai: Amuz Distribution’s vice president of global distribution Alex Avon, and Pixcom’s president, Nicola Merola jointly announced their international distribution deal for four seasons of Pixcom-produced Counter Offer (Contre Offre). This is the first acquisition for the Amuz Distribution brand (formerly ComediHa! Distribution until May of this year).

    There are three seasons (each season 12×30 min) with S4 currently in production. The distribution agreement is for all territories outside of Canada. The series is originally produced for Bell Media and airs in Canada on Noovo and Crave.

    Counter Offer follows the small family-run Levesque agency desperately trying to survive within the highly unpredictable real estate industry. The father and agency founder, Alain, broker for 35years, is on the verge of burnout and his family and friends cause chaos.  Dysfunctional, but endearing, the fledging real estate team always come together to support their buyers and sellers as they seek happiness and success within the hectic real estate jungle.
