    Faiza Mirza to lead Wace India’s expansion of Australian curriculum

    MUMBAI: The Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) has appointed Faiza Mirza as chief operating officer for India, marking a key step in expanding Australia’s government-backed curriculum across the country.

    The Wace programme, administered by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) under the Government of Western Australia, is the first international government curriculum officially recognised in India. It aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and has received equivalence from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

    Offered in over 16 countries including Singapore, China, Japan, and Malaysia, Wace is known for its rigorous academic design, skills-based learning, and global university pathways. The curriculum now seeks to onboard 100 Indian partner schools within three years.

    “I am honoured to lead Wace India during this pivotal moment for global education,” said Mirza. “Our goal is to make world-class, government-backed education both accessible and inclusive for Indian students.”

    Mirza brings more than 12 years of experience in education and organisational development, having previously worked with the Association of International Schools of India (TAISI) on leadership development and global partnerships. She holds an Msc in retail marketing and management from Kingston University and a BBA from Amity University.

    With Mirza at the helm, Wace India will focus on curriculum integration, school capacity building, and teacher training, advancing a vision of quality, globally benchmarked education that resonates with India’s diverse learning ecosystem.

    MUMBAI:  Shivani Maira Shankar has been appointed as the talent partner at Peak XV Partners (formerly Sequoia Capital), effective January 2025. In this role, she will lead talent acquisition efforts for the firm and its portfolio companies across various global regions, including India, Australia, MENA, and Southeast Asia. 

    With a robust background in executive search, Shivani brings extensive experience in helping organisations build high-performing leadership teams. She has a proven track record of partnering with founders to identify mission-driven leaders and tackling talent-related challenges within their firms.

    Shivani’s history includes key roles at Sequoia Capital, where she served as vice president of human capital, and at Executive Access India, where she excelled as associate director. Her expertise encompasses strategic recruitment processes, client and candidate relationship management, and developing top-tier talent pipelines.

    Shivani holds an MA in organisational behaviour from Amity University and a BA in psychology from Delhi University. Her educational journey includes valuable hands-on experience gained through an internship with Bharti Airtel.

    As she steps into this new role at Peak XV, Shivani Maira Shankar looks forward to driving impactful talent strategies and contributing to organisational success in the dynamic investment landscape.

    MUMBAI: The Delhi Daredevils unveiled their jersey for the seventh edition of the Pepsi Indian Premier League at an event organised at JW Marriot – Aero City this Saturday, with Quikr.com coming in as the principal sponsor.

     

    The GMR group owned team has gone for a complete makeover this season with a new look squad, a new logo and a new sponsor, who symbolise the story of growth and success.

     

    Speaking on the unveiling Delhi Daredevils CEO Hemant Dua explained: “Quikr has become a ground breaking company in the online classified space and we at the Daredevils are truly excited with this partnership.  It is the coming together of brands that share similar values on an ideal platform where speed, success and teamwork rule and believe it will be the beginning of a long association. Creatigies Communications and Havas Media played a key role in making this partnership happen, we appreciate their efforts.”

     

    The partnership will initially be for a three year period with both sides confident of a long term relationship.

    DD’s first match will be in Sharjah against Royal Challengers Bangalore on 17 April 2014.
