  • Nominees of Voice Awards for Pogo Amazing Kids Awards’ announced

    MUMBAI: The nominees of the Voice Awards category for the Pogo Amazing Kids Awards 2005 have been announced.

    This is the second year of the awards, which encourages Indian kids to exercise their choice by empowering them to choose/vote for their favourite icons amongst nominees in various award categories.
     
     

    The nominations for the Pogo Voice Awards 2005 have been announced for sub-categories such as Most Amazing Actor, Most Amazing Actress, Most Amazing Film, Most Amazing Newcomer, Most Amazing Song, Most Amazing Singer, Most Amazing Comedian, Most Amazing Sports Hero, Most Amazing Toon and Most Amazing Pogo Character/Show.

    Interestingly, five lucky kids who exercise their choice through Pogo Voice Awards will get the fabulous once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to personally present the award to their favourite star.

    All kids have to do is tune into Prime Pogo from 6 – 8 pm starting 19 September to catch the nominees in each of the 10 categories. Every week nominees from two categories will be featured within Prime Pogo, giving kids the chance to cast their votes on a weekly basis for five weeks in a row. As each set of a category would air only for a week, kids can voice their choice for a particular category only during the week of telecast.

    Kids can send in their votes on-line via www.pogo.tv or visit the special voting booths set up at their schools in some cities. Close to a 1000 kids will receive exclusive Pogo merchandise by participating in the voting process.

    To promote the Pogo Amazing Kids Awards 2005, Pogo has kicked off a well-integrated marketing campaign that includes extensive media such as hoardings, print advertising and web-based promotions.

    A school contact programme is being conducted to contact 3000 school principals to inform them about Pogo Amazing Kids Awards 2005 and, in turn, spread the message about the awards to over 15,00,000 kids.

    Instituted by Pogo in December 2004, Pogo Amazing Kids Awards is the first-ever kids’ television award. The awards recognise child prodigies and reward them for their outstanding achievements in multiple areas of excellence such as arts, leadership, sports, etc. Kids were also empowered to exercise their choice, and vote for their favourite icons from the world of music, sports, movies and television.

    MUMBAI: Preity Zinta and Shahid Kapur, two of the nominees for Pogo Amazing Kids Awards, the first ever televised awards event for kids in India, conducted a special pre-awards recording session for Pogo.
     
     
    Preity Zinta and Shahid Kapur have been nominated for the Pogo Voice Awards in The Amazing Heroine and The Amazing Newcomer category, respectively. The winners of the awards will be on air on 24 December at 7:30 p.m.
     
     
    According to a company release, the kids across the country have voted for their favourite stars in all the sub-categories of Pogo Voice Awards – The Amazing Hero, The Amazing Heroine, The Amazing Newcomer, The Amazing Comedian, The Amazing Dancer, The Amazing Movie, The Amazing Sports Hero, The Amazing Toon and The Amazing Pogo Show.
     
     
    Chinu and Hussain the anchors of Prime Pogo will host the event. The event will witness performances from the popular Bollywood actress and erstwhile child actress Urmila Matondkar, internationally acclaimed funny man Sylvester the Jester, and Shaimak Davar Jr. dance troupe amongst many others, lined up for the evening, informs the media release.

    Pogo fetes kids talent with Amazing Kids Awards

    MUMBAI: 2004 marked the first Pogo Amazing Kids Awards. The award is Pogo’s initiative to celebrate the incredible tenacity and spirit that is prevalent in the children of India.
     

    The guidelines for the award allowed children from all backgrounds to be nominated, besides nominating kids solely on academics, athletics community service and adversity. Pogo will telecast the show on 24 December at 7:30 pm.

    The event held on 18 December took off with the Shiamak Davar Troupe. The evening brought in some incredible tapestry of personalities from the filmdom like Pooja Bhatt, Sophie Haque, Sarika, the commonly called Short Circuit, Arshad Warsi, Diya Mirza Saif Ail Khan, Sonu Nigam, Arbaz Khan and many others.
     

    The event was hosted by the Prime Pogo anchors, Chinu and Hussain who started off by announcing the winner of the Pogo amazing Film award which was captured by Dhoom, the director Sanjay Gadhvi along with his daughter collected the award that was presented by Rajpal Yadav and Bharkha.

    The performance of the Davar Jr troupe was the focal point of the entire evening. The performance of Urmila Matnodkar, along with the Davar troupe, rocked the stage and brought feisty and energy to the show. Also part of the proceedings was a Mumbai teenage band Kids Koas which later ‘roped in’ Saif Ali Khan, to pull few strings on his guitar.
     
     
    Hilarious real life cartoon character, Sylvester The Jester gave a live entertaining and comedy magic on stage and the percussionist par excellence Sivamani and his kiddy band threw an excellent performance came as the highlight of the evening.

    An unusual show that was showcased was a synchronised beat by the kids playing basketball with Sivamani creating ripples of excitement and drawing in more curiosity from the crowd. The unique aspect of the band was the youngest kiddie aged seven years who was lauded with open-heart full of appreciation

    Shine Brighter Pogo Award for Leadership: Neelam Rani. The 10 year-old Neelam resident of Harisinghpura, Haryana hit the headlines for saving two minor girls from being forcibly married off to middle-aged men along with her friends Sunita Shushma and Swati.

    The winners for the Pogo Voice Awards, Amazing Hero: Hrithik Roshan, Amazing Heroine: Preity Zinta, Amazing Dancer: Hrithik Roshan, Amazing Comedian: Johhny Lever, Amazing Toons Award: Tom & Jerry and Amazing Pogo show: May Way for Noddy.

    The Davar Jr troupe danced on the famous numbers of Main Aisa Kuin Hoon from Lakshya and It’s Magic from Koi Mil Gaya, joined by Hrithik Roshan to dance along with the troupe spilling radiance on the stage.

    The absence of Sachin Tendulkar who was felicitated with the Amazing Sports Hero Award and Preity Zinta won The Amazing Heroine Award left some blues amongst the kiddie audience.

    Turner Entertainment Networks Asia Inc senior vice-president and general manager Ian Diamond and vice-president advertising sales Monica Tata presented Pogo Development Fund cheque to Going to school programme. The programme basically aims at inspiring kids across the country to get to school through multi-media productions.

    Rakesh Roshan was felicitated with a Pogo Special Award for Koi Mil Gaya, which was presented to him by Ian Diamond.

    The award was also given to those kids who really achieved something and did a deed for the society in a small way. The Everyday Heros, Ramesh and Rajendra was felicitated by ITC head FMCG buiness western India Sandeep Sule who complimented them for, “The dreams and aspirations, and richly deserve the award for what it takes to fulfill dreams in the face of adversity.”

    The event was co-presented by Horlicks and ITC Candy Man, associate sponsors were Gini and Jony and Maruti Suzuki and the event was powered by Indiatimes.com.

    The award empowers kids to voice their choice by voting for their favourite icons amongst nominees in various award categories through the Pogo voice awards.

    The award will recognise child prodigies and reward them for their outstanding achievements in multiple areas of excellence such as arts, leadership, sports, etc.

Five lucky kids, who vote, will get the chance of a lifetime to mingle with the stars and give away an award at the TV event!

    Additionally, 5,000 early bird prizes will be given to kids sending their votes first.

    The Pogo Kids Awards celebrates the skills of amazing child prodigies by recognising and rewarding them for outstanding achievements in fields such as arts, leadership, sports, etc.

    An executive jury from various fields will vote for and choose the winners that will be announced on the TV event on Pogo.
