    BKN seals new media deal with Digital Music Group

    Mumbai: BKN International AG signed an agreement with NASDAQ listed Digital Music Group (DMGI) to handle all USA and Canada digital rights for current and upcoming BKN films and series. The announcesment was made by BKN CEO Allen Bohbot, CEO and DMGI CEO Mitchell Koulouris.

    The deal includes BKN series such as Legend of the Dragon, Dork Hunters from Outer Space and Zorro – Generation Z and films such as Jungle Book – Rikki-Tikki-Tavi to the Rescue, Robin Hood – Quest for the King and Kong – Return to the Jungle.

    “Having an organization like DMGI with expertise in handling all digital rights in the key USA and Canada markets is very important to us,” said Bohbot.

    He further added “DMGI provide access to new stores particularly online retailers including iTunes Music Store, Google Video, RealNetworks, Napster, Wal-Mart Music, and Yahoo! which will enable kids to view our shows on these channels.”

    “BKN’s list of film and television productions is impressive in both its scope and tremendous success with audiences,” said Koulouris. “DMGI is looking forward to working with BKN to maximize the earnings potential on their entire list of productions.”

    BKN announces slate of new animated programming at Mipcom 06

    MUMBAI: BKN International AG a global animation company engaged in the production and distribution of animated children’s television programmes and related consumer products, presents its largest slate ever of high-quality children’s programming at Mipcom 2006, it was announced today by Allen Bohbot, BKN Group CEO.

    The equivalent of 123 episodes of products will be available to buyers at this year’s market which equals BKN’s output of new product for the last three and a half years combined.
    The slate of new animated programming includes:

    39 x 22′- Zorro: Generation Z
    26 x 22′- Dork Hunters from Outer Space
    39 x 22′- Legend of the Dragon
    1 x 67′- Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves
    1 x 80′- Kong: Return to the Jungle
    1 x 48′ – A Christmas Carol
    1 x 48′ – Robin Hood
    1 x 48′ – Jungle Book
    1 x 48′ – Prince and the Pauper
    1 x 48′ – Three Musketeers
    1 x 48′ – Alice in Wonderland

    Three additional film titles of 48′ in length including Jack and the Beanstalk, Gulliver’s Travels and The Nutcracker are also planned for late in 2007.

    MUMBAI: BKN New Media Ltd, a animation company engaged in the production and distribution of animated children’s television programmes and related consumer products, unveiled two of it’s new animated TV series, Zorro – Generation Z and Dork Hunters from Outer Space at Mipcom 2006.

    As announced by BKN Group CEO Allen Bohbot, Zorro – Generation Z is an animated action adventure series, while Dork Hunters from Outer Space is an animated action comedy series.

    BKN will be handling all TV and DVD distribution as well as merchandising and licensing rights worldwide. BKN is planning a strong marketing and advertising campaign for the brand targeting the trade and consumers for this major launch supported in part by toys, videogames and on-line activities, informs an official release.

    Zorro – Generation Z, is co-produced by BKN New Media Ltd (UK) and BKN New Media (Spain), sets Zorro in the present with modern-day themed adventures in a fast-paced format. Diego de la Vega is a descendant of Zorro’s past who has a reason once again to pick up the mantle when the city of his birth grows increasingly corrupt. Zorro fights crime on a cool black motorcycle called the Tornado-Z. His crime fighting tools include a Z-Pod, Z-Phone and other surprises befitting of a modern day hero. Expect new renditions of established Zorro characters along with some new additions, including a fellow female freshman, The Scarlet Whip, who also rides the night in a scarlet cape. The melding of an historic legend with powers, high tech gadgetry and vehicles of the modern-day super-hero as the all new El Zorro rides again, adds the release.

    The Dork Hunters from Outer Space has been produced by BKN International AG, follows the adventures of Mac, Nikki , Romeo, and their earthbound friends Eddie and Angie, as they take on the nastiest, interplanetary villains ever to hide out on Planet Earth – The Dorks.

    Benoit Runel appointed MD of BKN New Media

    MUMBAI: Global animation company BKN International AG, involved in distribution and marketing of animated children’s television programmes and related consumer products, has appointed Benoit Runel as managing director of the company’s largest operating subsidiary, BKN New Media Ltd in Great Britain.

    Runel will oversee all sales and marketing for the company in the UK, Germany, Benelux, Scandinavia, North America and emerging markets such as Eastern Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
    He is further charged with overseeing all development and pre-production activities in the London – based studio as well as with securing and managing all co-productions with international partners.

    With over 16 years experience in the television and children industry, Runel joins BKN from Jetix Europe where, as part of the senior management team he oversaw all programming and related on-air strategies for the group’s 12 channels. He brought content and new Intellectual Properties to Jetix Europe and US through a number of successful co-productions and acquisition deals.

    Prior to joining Jetix, Runel served seven years at TF1, the French free-TV giant where he built a library of 2000 hours of kids’ programming.

    “We are really pleased to have the contributions of such a talented individual as Benoit. His track record in children’s programming acquisitions, productions and sales both at Jetix Europe and TF1 in France over 15 years makes him a perfect candidate to lead this division,” said BKN group chief executive officer Allen Bohbot.

    “BKN is in a very exciting development stage. The products including Legend of the Dragon, Dork Hunters from Outer Space, Zorro: Generation Z and the new classic collection including Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, A Christmas Carol and Robin Hood, to name a few, for direct-to-DVD release are really strong and I look forward to expanding on these activities.
