MUMBAI: Alec Baldwin may well be following in the footsteps of Charles Grodin, segueing from a career as an actor to a gig as a talk show host on an NBC-affiliated cable network. Baldwin is in talks with MSNBC to host a primetime talk show.
According to Mediate, which first reported the Baldwin-MSNBC negotiations, the Emmy-winning actor is eyed for the 10 p.m. hour. Following his seven-year run on NBC’s 30 Rock, the network kept Baldwin in the fold with a two-year overall deal inked late last year.
Since then, he was considered for a late-night talk show, with the discussion focusing on Baldwin possibly taking over NBC’s 1:35 a.m. half-hour occupied by Last Call With Carson Daly. However, nothing came out of that, and Last Call was renewed for another season. Baldwin has been considered a solid talk show host contender.
MUMBAI: PVR Pictures is all set to release its latest offering To Rome with Love in theatres on 7h September.
The film is a kaleidoscopic romantic comedy set in one of the world‘s most enchanting cities. The film brings us into contact with a well-known American architect (Alec Baldwin) reliving his youth; an average middle-class Roman (Roberto Benigni) who suddenly finds himself as Rome‘s biggest celebrity; a young provincial couple drawn into separate romantic encounters and an American opera director (Woody Allen) wanting to put a singing mortician on stage.
The film has Academy Award winning filmmaker Woody Allen offering a triple treat of writing, directing and acting in this film. Known for his funny wordplay and incisive characterizations, Allen makes many short lists of the most important comedy directors of all time. To Rome with Love is inspired profoundly by Italian filmmakers who he finds both innovative and brilliant.
While Rome is a city abundant with romance and comedy, Woody Allen‘s To Rome with Love is about people having adventures that will change their lives forever.
The film also stars Penelope Cruz, Roberto Benigni, Alec Baldwin, Judy Davis, Jesse Eisenberg, Greta Gerwig and Ellen Page in the lead along with Woody Allen himself.
MUMBAI: Veteran film director Woody Allen has signed Blanchett, comedian Louis C.K. and actor Alec Baldwin for his next yet-to-be-titled project.
Allen has said that the film would be shot this summer in New York and San Francisco. Incidentally, the Oscar-winning director will use San Francisco as his backdrop for the first time since Take The Money And Run, his directorial debut in 1969.
The new project will also see the 76-year-old filmmaker return to American soil after having filmed his last three projects in London, Paris and Rome.
Although, details of the plot have not be given, the film‘s cast abounds of comedic and dramatic talent like British actress Sally Hawkins, Lost actor Michael Emerson and Green Lantern star Peter Sarsgaard.
Allen has helmed more than 40 films over a career spanning six decades.
His latest film To Rome With Love that stars him alongside Penelope Cruz and Jesse Eisenberg will hit US screens on 22 June.
MUMBAI: Two of Hollywood‘s largest actors unions have decided to merge making way for the creation of a single organization that will have greater bargaining power with film and television studios.
Members of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists(AFTRA) approved the plan supported by George Clooney and Alec Baldwin, with 82 per cent of SAG and 86 per cent of AFTRA members voting in favour, it is understood.
The combined organization, with more than 150,000 members, will have the power to negotiate for better pay, pension and health benefits and also navigate the impact of changes to distribution.
The merger campaign began during the strike after SAG dissidents criticized union leaders for failing to reach an agreement with the studios. After negotiations broke down, the pro-merger group Unite for Strength won seats on the national board by calling for a combination of the two unions. The discussions with AFTRA began after the strike ended in April 2009.
It may be remembered that a 2009 strike by the Screen Actors Guild was weakened when AFTRA members remained on the job because their contract expired on a different date.
