The Osbournes hang up their Reality TV boots

MUMBAI: The reality show The Osbournes may have been a big hit on MTV across the globe but former rock star Ozzy Osbourne has decided that he has had enough of it.

At the recent MTV Europe Music Awards Osbourne said that after the current third season is completed he and his family will not be returning.

Reports indicate that the show made the family over $80 million. It also resurrected CD sales of the former Black Sabbath frontman. Unfortunately his children had difficulty coping with the sudden thrust into the spotlight. Two of them fought the menace of drug addiction and alcoholism. Another daughter Amy refused to be part of the show.

Ozzy was quoted in a BBC News report saying, “At the end of it I didn’t like having cameras around the house all the time. When you watch a 25-minute episode, you don’t realise that I’ve been filming all day. I suppose Americans get a kick out of watching a crazy Brit family like us make complete fools of ourselves every week.”

  • Supercop Kiran Bedi’s ‘Galati Kiski’ on DD 1 tonight

MUMBAI: While mainstream channels are sprucing up their programme line up with sitcoms, soaps and children’s programmes, national channel Doordarshan has decided to opt for Galati Kiski ,a docu- drama series.
The serial co-produced by Pavitrata Creations headed by 27 -year- old Saina Bedi ( Kiran Bedi’s daughter ) and Sri Adhikaari Brothers is based on the book Galati Kiski ( or ‘What Went Wrong?’ The English edition ) a collection of articles written by supercop Kiran Bedi.
The show debuts on DD 1 at 10 pm tonight.
The docu-drama series deals with topics like alcoholism, domestic violence, dowry, drug abuse, rape and incest that afflict Indian society. “The series brings to life true stories of criminals, the problems faced by them and the situations that lead them to commit crime,” says executive producer of Galati Kiski, Anita Varma.
The series has been directed by Anil Sharma and Saurabh Narang. Interestingly, the series will showcase some new faces (primarily from the National School of Drama and theatre artists) . “We have not cast known faces as we want to make the series as close to reality as possible. Our endeavour is to depict the stories as they are,” asserts Sharma.
“Doordarshan was the obvious choice to telecast the show as our main objective is to reach out to the remotest of places. Moreover , Kiran Bedi has an aura around her and everyone would like to see her stories, ” clarified Anita Varma.
