Grazing goat pictures launch the trailer of Bhaji In Problem

MUMBAI: The wait for the official trailer release of one of the biggest Punjabi blockbuster of the year, Bhaji in Problem came to a halt with Grazing Goat Pictures launching the much awaited trailer amid great reception and laughter.

Bhaji in Problem is Grazing Goat Picture’s second regional film production after the poignant Marathi film 72 Miles Ek Pravas which was directed by National Award winning director, late Rajiv Patil of Jogwa fame. With Bhaji in Problem, Akshay Kumar and Ashvini Yardi are all set to give their audiences a comic relief.

Soon after the trailer was launched with Besharam’s release, audiences were found tweeting and describing the trailer as hilarious and expressing their eagerness to watch the film. Some people also called it the dhamaka trailer, re-instating the fact that the film indeed looks as a promising blockbuster for all Punjabi and comedy film buffs.

The film is the story of Gurpreet Ghuggi, who plays the character of Sundeep Cheema, juggling between two wives. His life ends up in a complete chaos with the entry of Gippy Grewal who plays Jeeta and falls in love with Preet played by Ragini Khanna. In this comedy of errors of epic proportions, both sides know the deepest and the most intimate secrets of the other, which each of them want to protect at any cost and holds it over the other’s head. The film is a budding laugh riot and as one hilarious situation unfolds after another, the film only gets more interesting and engaging.

Bhaji in Problem stars some of Punjab’s most reputed stars Gippy Grewal and Gurpreet Ghuggi who are joined by Sasural Ghenda Phool’s Suhana Raghini Khanna, and veteran actor Om Puri as central characters. The film is directed by Smeep Kang who has delivered successful hits such as Carry on Jatta and Lucky Di Unlucky Story. The film also sees cricketer Harbajan Singh make a friendly appearance along with producer Akshay Kumar, who is a Punjabi himself, having an extended appearance.

Honing in on the huge success of their first film venture, OMG: Oh My God, and their first Marathi film, the critically acclaimed 72 Miles Ek Pravas, Akshay Kumar and Ashvini Yardi have further spearheaded the popularisation of regional cinema with Bhaji in Problem.

  • Not so bossy after all

    Not so bossy after all

MUMBAI: Boss reminds you of a brand of hand mixer of the same name. It is a blend of similar films from 1970s and 80s with two brothers, a principled father and a misunderstanding where brothers are parted. Traditionally, one takes the illegal route while the other is the father’s blue-eyed boy. The brothers come together to prove blood is thicker than water a decade and a half later. How is the film contemporary? In those days, a mother slapped her elder one and threw him out, here it is done by the father; the hero does not have a childhood sweetheart pining and waiting for him to return; the music is louder and lyrics make no sense most of the time and mainly, the fight is over the villain’s sister.

    Producer: Ashwin Warde
    Director: Anthony D’Souza.
Cast: Akshay Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty, Danny Denzongpa, Ronit Roy, Shiv Pandit, Aditi Rao Hydari, Johny Lever, Parikshit Sahni, Govind Namdeo, Sanjay Mishra

The film starts in an old-fashioned way, trying to set the pace of the film with action by various artistes for the first 40 minutes before it introduces Akshay Kumar with yet another action sequence, a greedy one because it refuses to end! The only action hero of yore who does not have a fight scene is Mithun Chakraborty.

Akshay Kumar, who has been banished from his home in Banaras by his father, Mithun, ends up in Haryana in nick of time to save the local don and Big Boss, Danny. Seeing honesty mixed with anger in the young lad, Danny takes him under his wing to make him his heir, and names him Boss. Big Boss’s front is as the owner of a transport fleet but otherwise he is a supari contractor. On the other side is a policeman, Ronit Roy, who wants to be the commissioner of police and to achieve this, he handles the dirty deals department for the wannabe CM, Govind Namdeo.

It is time to work on a family story and to absolve Akshay of his childhood act which led to his ouster from home. Akshay’s kid brother, Shiv Pandit, is romancing Aditi Rao Hydari, the sister of Ronit. Ronit wants her to marry Namdeo’s son in exchange for the Commissioner’s post. Namdeo wants an outsider to kill Shiv so fingers don’t point at him. The contract to kill him is given to Akshay. At the same time, Mithun gives a contract to save Shiv to Akshay. The brothers combine to foil all the evil plans of the villains through expected twists and turns with no pretence of logic or justification. It is supposed to be old-fashioned entertainment after all!

A remake of the 2010 Malayalam movie, Pokkiri Raja, the film maintains its south flavour in treatment and even the choice of fighters and junior artistes. It also sticks to south style of action and stunts which is too much in vogue with Hindi films lately. Action and light banter of Akshay is what the film counts on to entertain the viewers. Direction is fair. The photography is good. Some one-liners are funny, some flat. Music is a lot of noisy stuff which makes following the lyrics tough. Akshay is his usual self in the roles he plays on regular basis now; a carefree character with unbeatable energy and fighting power. Shiv gets scope to showcase his action prowess and also his romantic side. Aditi Rao Hydari is okay. Mithun seems miscast in an Alokenath kind of role. Parikshit Sahani’s presence in the film is unexplained since he just has to hang around Mithun. It is nice to see Danny on screen after a long time. Ronit makes a perfect villain against Akshay. Johny Lever and Sanjay Mishra are okay with their comic input. Govind Namdeo is the usual villain like his many such roles before.

Akshay’s Boss gets into the Guinness Book for the largest poster

Actor Akshay Kumar’s film has created another record even before its release – it has entered the Guinness of World Records for the largest film poster in the world, a record so far held by Michael Jackson’s This Is It.

Akshay’s fan club, which calls itself Team Akshay, decided to swing into action. Logistics were put into place and work had begun to make a special poster of Boss that would be the largest poster in the world which was completed in four months.

The largest poster in the world was achieved and unveiled at Little Gransden Airfield, Little Gransden, UK, on 3 October. Macro Arts (UK) did the manufacturing of the poster. Incidentally, Macro Arts is the same company that had made Michael Jackson’s poster.

The official certification for the same was done in the UK itself and the Boss poster also finds a mention on the official Guinness website.

Actor Akshay Kumar said, “It’s a matter of honour. I thank everyone who made this possible.”

Akshay was keen on shooting this video in true Feroz Khan’s style, the Bollywood superstar has always been a big fan of Khan. This is Akshay’s way of paying respect to the great actor and director Feroz Khan.

Along with Akshay the song features Sonakshi Sinha and has a backdrop in a ranch with beautiful white horses running around the duo.

When quizzed Akshay about him donning the late Feroz Khan’s style he said, “I consider Feroz Khan to be the Boss of coolness and style. I hope I have been able to do justice to his personality.”

  • Shraddha Kapoor to star opposite Akshay in Gabbar

Shraddha Kapoor to star opposite Akshay in Gabbar

The Aashiqui 2 fame Shraddha Kapoor is indeed going places. After witnessing a massive turnaround in her career post the film, she has now been signed opposite Akshay Kumar for Gabbar. The development is close on the heels of her giving a nod of approval to Shahid Kapoor’s Haider.

Producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali was quite positive about Shraddha making the cut since he felt the pretty girl carried just the right kind of innocence that the character demanded.

This will be Shraddha first movie in the big league opposite a superstar like Akshay. Incidentally each of her next three films, The Villain, Haider and now Gabbar, has the leading man in the title, playing the central protagonist.

Not too long ago a certain Sonakshi Sinha also started on the similar lines with Dabangg, Rowdy Rathore and Son of Sardaar; so Shraddha seems to be having a gameplan.
