This exam season, beat exam blues with SNICKERS

MUMBAI: SNICKERS, the nougat, caramel and nuts filled chocolate bar from Mars Wrigley urges students to beat all kinds of exam blues and wishes them the very best, with an innovative twist to the regular bar.

With the global brand proposition, ‘You are not you when you’re hungry’, the new campaign builds on how hunger makes people act out in unexpected ways, especially when there is additional stress due to exams. The new campaign has been launched with a simple message that, ‘Exams can be stressful, don’t let hunger add to it’. While students across the country are putting in their best efforts to prepare for the upcoming exams, stress and nervousness are likely side effects that are hard to avoid, and this stress coupled with hunger can be a detrimental combination. SNICKERS, famous for its quirky and humorous brand persona, has come to the rescue with SNICKERS Exam Bars, giving an innovative spin to the proposition with “Stress mat lo, Snickers lo”.

The limited-edition Exam Bars will be available with good luck greetings for the students such as ‘Do Well’, ‘Rock On’, and ‘Shine On’. The brand has also launched a comical film that offers respite to help battle the deadlines and stress of the fast approaching examinations, and a message that while stress and hunger can get to the best of us, one can always grab a SNICKERS.

Talking about the launch of the SNICKERS Exam Bars and the video, Mars Wrigley, marketing director Yogesh Tewari said, “With the examinations approaching fast, our strategy was to use our signature tongue-in-cheek sense of humor that has become synonymous with SNICKERS to engage with our primary target audience by offering much-needed relief from exam stress. The launch of SNICKERS Exam Bar comes at the back of the insight that exams can be extremely stressful, and that hunger along with stress get manifested through various behaviors. We are reiterating our commitment to our loyal consumers by offering a bar of delicious chocolate with a positive and fun message to lighten up these taxing times.”

On the campaign, BBDO India chief creative officer Akashneel Dasgupta said, “Every classroom is a microcosm of society. We find all kinds of characters, almost stereotypes. But two things that are common is that they all get stressed during exams and hunger aggravates it. It manifests in their behavior and everyone behaves in a way that’s a typical of them. SNICKERS address their hunger pangs, so that they can give their best. And one can be at their best only when they are themselves and not hungry. SNICKERS have also introduced exam-specific packs in the market which carry wishes like Keep Calm, Shine On, etc. in place of the regular branding.”

The film features characters that we are all too familiar with – ‘the topper’, who having revised the entire syllabus several times, makes everyone around him nervous with doubts and questions, or ‘the  Gambler’, who seems to have the undoubtable insight into which questions will appear in this year’s question paper. The 2.43-minute  film features many more such humorous characters that one encounters around examination halls. With a comical take on the proposition, ‘Stress Mat Lo, Snickers Lo’, the film offers a much-needed respite to students from the stress that accompanies exam time and guarantees a nostalgic walk down the memory lane for the rest. SNICKERS Exam Bars are available in traditional and modern outlets across the country.

  • Ghadi detergent launches new campaign for Diwali

Ghadi detergent launches new campaign for Diwali

MUMBAI: Ghadi has always believed in provoking its consumers to be more socially conscious and aware.

Its campaign, #SaareMaelDhoDaalo has become synonymous with cleaning which goes beyond clothes. The campaign has not only made its way into the hearts of people, but the efforts towards initiating a social change also resulted in the campaign winning the Effie Awards 2017 amongst many others.

In the past 2 years, Ghadi identified 3 key festivals of India and decided to propagate its philosophy of #SaareMaelDhoDaalo. It urged people to cleanse their minds of this deep-seated filth. Every single time, it identified and addressed a new notion of the mind and showed a mirror to the society.

Continuing with the idea, the new campaign around Diwali tackles another kind of ‘mael’. This time, Ghadi urges its consumers to give each profession its due respect and not to belittle people for what they do.

The TVC takes place inside every proverbial Indian household, where the domestic help is taken for granted. Their efforts and sacrifices go unnoticed. Often, their work is considered as “menial”. The TVC advocates the cleansing of this ‘mael’ through the story of a teenager. We see him constantly admonishing the maid’s efforts, until his mother asks him to step into her shoes. The lesson he learns is a lesson for us all. The campaign requests us to realise that no work is small. It urges people to realise the worth of every work that comes their way and understand the importance of people in their lives.

ADK Fortune National Creative Director Akashneel Dasgupta says, “In continuation with our campaign, this is yet another aspect that we are trying to address. To restore dignity of work, whatever be the nature of it. This, we hope, will further strengthen Ghadi’s cleansing credentials in the minds of people.”

The film has been conceptualised by ADK Fortune and executed by Full Circle Films.

Commenting on her new role, Ramaswamy said, “I am very excited to join Dentsu Creative Impact. I have loved the vibe of the agency since the moment I walked in. Soumitra and Amit have been trying to get the best possible talent, and my mandate here is to have fun while building a vibrant and creative culture. This will involve less rhetoric and more hands-on hard work.”

Some of the agencies that she has worked with include JWT, Lowe, Rediffusion, Havas and FCB. She has worked across a gamut of brands such as Nokia, Airtel, Woodland, Whirlpool, LG, Maruti, Lays and Boost. In her kitty are a number of  AdFest Golds, Spikes, Effies, New York Festival and a number of Abby’s. She was part of the One Show Jury in 2012 and is a regular face on the Goafest jury panel over the last few years.

Meanwhile,  Dasgupta’s last assignment was at ADK Fortune where he was heading the creative function. Dasgupta started his career in advertising with strategic planning at Mudra.

Commenting on his new role, he said, “It’s an exciting time to join Dentsu Creative Impact where a young new team has taken shape and one cannot fail to notice the energy and enthusiasm. Also, it was a personal desire for some time to work with Soumitra and I am happy that an opportunity has presented itself. Hope you get to hear more from us, soon.”

Talking about the exciting new additions to the team, Karnik too said, “Great work happens when people commit to constantly raising the bar. We are young and tremendously hungry for qualitative growth. To satiate our appetite and to help us achieve our objective, people become easily our single most valuable asset and we cherry pick each one of them. Both Anupama and Akash are just the kind of people Dentsu Creative Impact needs to write its destiny. For me, they are our fantastic acquisitions.”

Echoing a similar sentiment Dentsu Creative Impact SVP and branch head Amit Wadhwa added, “It’s been great going for Dentsu Creative Impact, especially in the last year or so, and one way we can really continue this upward journey is by having the right people around. This holds true even more so when it comes to the creative talent, since that is where the action finally boils down to. I think in Anupama and Akash we have two extremely talented, passionate and at the same time mature heads that will take us to where we intend to go.”
