Adani Group shines a light with ‘Story of Suraj’, third film in #HumKarkeDikhateHain series

MUMBAI: The Adani Group is back with another spark of inspiration. The infrastructure giant has rolled out Story of Suraj, the third instalment in its emotionally resonant #HumKarkeDikhateHain campaign, spotlighting how clean energy is transforming everyday lives across India.

Directed by Amit Sharma of Badhaai Ho fame and produced by Chrome Pictures, the film tells the story of Rakesh, a man who returns to his hometown only to find it aglow-literally and metaphorically—thanks to uninterrupted solar power. From blooming crops and buzzing classrooms to 24/7 hospitals, the town’s transformation reflects how renewable energy fuels more than just electricity-it powers possibilities.

Conceptualised by Ogilvy India, the film is rooted in Adani Green Energy Ltd’s (AGEL) mission to build a cleaner, greener India. AGEL, among the world’s largest renewable energy companies, operates a vast network of solar and wind farms, and has become a cornerstone of India’s energy transition.

Adani Group head – corporate branding Ajay Kakar said “At Adani, we are not just generating electricity—we are creating pathways for progress. This film reflects the real impact of solar energy on everyday life. The transformation of one town is emblematic of the change we’re enabling across India.”

Ogilvy India chief advisor Piyush Pandey commented, “Adani adds one more human touch to technology with its new Solar energy film. Story of Suraj shines by showing how solar energy brings life-changing opportunities to communities, helping them build a brighter future.”

The film will be amplified across TV, digital, radio, and social platforms, ensuring the sunshine reaches every screen.

With Story of Suraj, Adani isn’t just talking infrastructure-it’s showing how solar power is sparking human potential, one sunbeam at a time.

  • Out-of-home still rules the streets as brands chase the last unskippable medium

Out-of-home still rules the streets as brands chase the last unskippable medium

MUMBAI: At Goafest 2025, the session ‘Ignite The Attention – The Last Unskippable Medium’ spotlighted the enduring impact of out-of-home (OOH) advertising. The panel, moderated by Indian Outdoor Advertising Association (IOAA) CEO Praveen K Vadhera brought together industry heavyweights who argued that while screens can be skipped, billboards can’t be scrolled past.

Adani Group head of corporate branding Ajay Kakar opened the discussion by cutting through the jargon. “Stop dividing media into digital and non-digital”, he said. “What matters is strategy for the consumer, not the medium”. Kakar called on the industry to steer clients, not just serve briefs, and stressed that OOH creatives must be original—not borrowed from print. “The idea is what truly matters—it must create impact”.

Times Innovative Media (Times OOH) CEO Shekhar Narayanaswami defined the category in plain terms: “OOH is the experience of stepping out”. He described the medium as a counter to screen fatigue, offering unavoidable visibility. He added that combining physical ads with social media can amplify brand recall.

Adonmo MD Sandeep Bommireddi reframed digital as a horizontal shift across all media. “Integration, not isolation”, he urged. OOH, he argued, is already evolving into smarter formats through tech overlays and data targeting. “Choose media based on your audience—not out of habit”.

Platinum Communications and Madison Retail Paradigm CEO Dipankar Sanyal emphasised that “gut instinct is no longer king”. Today’s OOH is data-rich, performance-tracked, and measurable. “We now speak in the language of impressions and outcomes”.

Karukrit Advertising VP Promita Saha brought the consumer lens into focus. “The consumer comes before the canvas”, she said, advocating for OOH stories that adapt to cultural moments. “Melas and local events are missed opportunities when we reuse print assets. The environment deserves its own narrative”.

Together, the panellists agreed that OOH is more than a medium—it’s a mindset. One that blends tech, culture, creativity and commerce in an unskippable format.

Adani Ports’ new film highlights its role in enabling business growth

MUMBAI: The Adani Group has launched its latest film, Journey of Dreams, as part of its ongoing Hum Karke Dikhate Hain series, highlighting the transformative impact of Adani Ports on businesses and communities across India.

The narrative-driven film celebrates India’s spirit of determination, illustrating how Adani Ports enables businesses-both large and small-to thrive through seamless connectivity and world-class infrastructure. As India’s largest integrated ports and logistics company, Adani Ports and SEZ Limited (APSEZ) plays a crucial role in economic growth by facilitating global trade and empowering entrepreneurs.

The film opens with a touching scene where a young girl watches a ship sail into the horizon and asks her father, “Do ships carry big things, Papa?” To which he replies, “They carry big dreams too.” This sets the stage for an inspiring journey showcasing the global reach enabled by Adani Ports.

The story follows a father’s aspirations as his handcrafted Namda toys—a traditional wool-felting craft from Gujarat’s Kutch region—find international markets thanks to the logistical support of Adani Ports. His journey reflects the countless small business owners across India who benefit from the company’s extensive infrastructure and global market access.

Our world-class facilities and connectivity help businesses flourish, improving millions of lives. This film beautifully showcases how our ports serve as catalysts for aspirations, turning dreams into reality.”

The film, created by Ogilvy India, aligns with Adani’s vision of business with a human touch. Ogilvy India chief advisor, Piyush Pandey stated, “Big businesses and projects hold true significance when they positively impact communities. This campaign captures Adani Ports’ commitment to fostering growth at every level.”

Part of the AdaniHKKDH series, Journey of Dreams will be broadcast across multiple platforms, reinforcing Adani Ports’ role in shaping India’s economic future.

  • Rebuilding consumer trust, meeting altered expectations: Brands on the 2021 challenge

Rebuilding consumer trust, meeting altered expectations: Brands on the 2021 challenge

MUMBAI: Our world, as we know it, changed irrevocably last year in the wake of Covid2019. As people everywhere struggled to make sense of an evolving reality, organisations too were forced to reassess and recalibrate their businesses in a bid to survive and grow. Consumer behaviour having gone through a paradigm shift during the pandemic, has posed additional challenges for brands. There is understandably uncertainty on all fronts.

In order to understand the strategies devised by top brands to tackle the challenges of this global crisis and to look beyond it, the Indian Society of Advertisers (ISA), in association with the Free Press Journal and ABP Network, organised a two-part webinar – Brands and Consumers: 2021 and Beyond.

While the first part of this series on the manufacturing sector was held last week, the second part on the service sector was held on Wednesday with some of the best marketing minds from across the service sector. The panel discussion that followed aimed to share the best practices during the pandemic and the way to look forward with hope.

The session was moderated by ISA executive council member and former Johnson & Johnson MD Narendra Ambwani. Panelists included Thomas Cook (India) president & group head-marketing, service quality, financial services & innovation Abraham Alapatt, Aditya Birla Capital CMO Ajay Kakar, Jio Platforms group vice president- advertising & innovations Mohit Kapoor, and Amazon India’s director, mass & brand marketing international Ravi Desai.

Opening the session, Ambwani spoke about how post-Covid, brands face many challenges with consumers‘ expectations as well as behaviours changing. He shared the main question confronting the industry today: “what are the lessons learnt in overcoming the disruptions posed by lockdown, WFH and fears caused by Covid.” Alapatt voiced his opinion on how the travel sector was the most affected in the crisis with the entire industry’s demand going down to “zero”, in part due to the physical restrictions in place. “The past twelve months have given a learning equivalent to twelve years,” he stated.

From a marketer’s perspective, he encapsulated the year gone by into six Cs of 60 days each, with the first 60 days being a state of “confusion”, turning to “concern” in next 60, then going on to “careful” where the initial paranoia had subdued, proceeding to a mix of “cautious + careless” when the lockdowns eased and finally learning to “coexist” with the pandemic and the restrictions.

Sharing Thomas Cook’s marketing strategy during the crisis, he highlighted the importance of staying connected to the consumer via newsletters and surveys, while reassuring them on the safety protocols being adopted by the company. The travel company also guaranteed the customer’s financial security by giving them the freedom to reschedule or cancel flights without monetary loss.

Aditya Birla’s Ajay Kakar agreed with Alapatt on the importance of remaining connected with the customer, while also stressing on brand visibility and relevance. Being primarily from the health and life insurance sector, he said it was equally crucial to be there for existing customers and listen to their concerns, rather than only focus on new customers. He agreed that the sector benefited from people having time to spare to finally explore investing in the capital market.

Jio’s Mohit Kapoor was more upbeat regarding the past year, although he admitted that the April 2020 quarter was the worst in many years for the company. He shared the forecast of Jio’s smartphones reaching a market of 800 million from existing 500 million, paving the way for a ‘2G-Mukt Bharat’. He predicted that social is the way forward for commerce with social networking sites like Facebook and Instagram seeing a huge spike in users. He also touched on the upcoming relevance of social gaming and e-sports genres with India becoming one of the biggest gamers markets.

Amazon’s Ravi Desai was also quite optimistic about the e-commerce giant’s prospects in the past, as well as the coming year. As he put it, “consumers’ needs for a wide selection of products, delivered quickly and safely is not going to change,” even with local retailers opening up and customers stepping out to buy. His advice to brands: To look for the ‘permanent’ factor in their business module which will remain relevant to customers, and to focus on that core part.

Summing up the main takeaways for brands from the discussion –

u  Stay connected and relevant to customers

u  Reach out and reassure existing customers

u  With changed consumer-expectations, brands that step up will remain in the game

u  Trust is the keyword – rebuilding and reassuring customer’s trust in a crisis

After the bloodbath of last year, the travel industry is on the road to recovery, with a huge spate of bookings for the months of November and December, shared Alapatt. He added that Maldives, which had never figured in the top destinations for Indians now, had single largest visitors from India. Even enquiries post-lockdown were record-breaking, indicating that people were frustrated after remaining indoors for so long. With prices lower than ever and great travel deals, he concluded that things can only look up from hereon for travel and tourism. At the same time, he emphasised there was no compromise on the safety factor of customers, and that adding safety value to a brand where required will pay dividends with customers willing to pay for the extra. He cited the example of Thomas Cook’s partnership with Apollo, to enable the customer to avail the ‘doctor-on-call’ facility while travelling.

In conclusion, this optimism was shared by all other service sectors when it came to looking forward at 2021 and beyond. They surmised that this was a powerful opportunity for the hospitality and service sector, with the worst over and behind them. And that in this pursuit, the relevance and value of customer engagement has grown even more significant for all brands.

  • Aditya Birla Capital’s health insurance campaign urges #RakhoPooraKhayal

Aditya Birla Capital’s health insurance campaign urges #RakhoPooraKhayal

MUMBAI: Aditya Birla Health Insurance Co. Limited (ABHICL), the health insurance subsidiary of Aditya Birla Capital Limited (ABCL), has announced the launch of its latest campaign – “Rakho Poora Khayal”– an awareness campaign that urges women to complete the protection circle by influencing and purchasing health insurance for themselves and their families. This high-octane campaign has been launched across ABHICL’s social media platforms. The campaign promotes the brand belief that the healthiest version is the best version, which helps to fulfil life goals of an individual and their families.

The campaign narrative states that women are constantly concerned about the well-being of their family and their contribution towards taking care of family’s health is unmatched. Therefore, through this campaign ABHI aims at motivating and urging women to complete the health protection circle by helping to choose the right ‘health’ insurance for themselves and their families. The purpose of Aditya Birla Health Insurance as a brand is to motivate people to focus on the wellness and health element of health insurance.

ABHI does not believe in preaching to people about what it believes to be right for them. Instead, through its communication, the brand poses relevant questions regarding health and wellness with intent to motivate women to think about the role health insurance can play in their life and self-realize their needs. The brand believes when people self-realize their needs they are more committed to taking action towards fulfilling them. This video embraces the same brand philosophy of self-realization.

Aditya Birla Capital Limited chief marketing officer Ajay Kakar said, “As a brand, we are committed to provoking our customers to self-realize their protection needs and to opt for the right health insurance solution.  At Aditya Birla Capital our constant endeavour is to share all perspectives on life and money with our customers so that they can make an informed decision for what’s right for them and their family. With ‘Rakho Poora Khayal’, we intend to leave women with the following questions, ‘Are you doing enough to protect your health?’ ‘Is your family completely protected?’ A self-realization will help them veer the family conversation and discussion towards taking adequate protection for their and their family’s health.

Aditya Birla Health Insurance  CEO Mayank Bathwal said, “The role of health insurance in the larger scheme of keeping the family healthy has not been explored. Traditionally, health insurance communications have seemed to communicate directly with the men of the house. This has further played a role in establishing health insurance as a finance tool for serious health problems which is perceived to be outside the domain of women. Through ‘RakhoPooraKhayal’ initiative, our attempt is to raise awareness among Indian women to be the ‘Total Health Guardian’ of their family and complete the circle of protection. This campaign aligns with ABHI’s purpose of inspiring individuals and families to put their ‘Health First’ and our philosophy of ‘Health Insurance for all’

The film has been conceptualized and implemented by Abstract Films. The storyline and narrative have been directed by Rohan Joseph and Vinod Rakhade of Abstract Films. The social media roll-out is being handled by Mindshare.

  • The Aditya Birla Capital brand launches first of its kind interactive campaign

The Aditya Birla Capital brand launches first of its kind interactive campaign

MUMBAI: What if a brand could tell different stories from different perspectives at the same time, and allow consumers to choose the story they relate to better, and make a product choice accordingly?

Aditya Birla Capital which is the common brand used by the financial services subsidiaries of Aditya Birla Capital Limited, has done just that!

In the first interactive social media campaign of its kind, the Aditya Birla Capital brand allows the viewers to interact with two different futures simultaneously, enabling them to choose for themselves the future they most relate to, and plan it accordingly.

Most people don’t take action towards planning their future because it’s an intangible. The brand believes that if we could give people a handle, indeed if people could interact with their future, there is a far higher chance that they will take action to plan it.

Therefore, the new Facebook Campaign uses creative tech to enable people to interact with two different futures, with the belief that once people engage with two different futures they will actively choose one of the two and the experience will provoke them to start planning for their future.

Speaking about the campaign Mr. Ajay Kakar, Chief Marketing Officer said, “Story-telling is the oldest and arguably the most popular way for brands to engage with their consumers by weaving a product proposition into the story. However, a story told through a 60 sec commercial is always one-sided, and can get extremely prescriptive, leaving no room in the narration for an alternate view. Therefore, advertising commercials often feel unauthentic.

As a brand we do not want to ever push a product or a point of view to our customers. We want to share all perspectives on life and money with our customers so that they can make an informed decision for what’s right for them and their family. Therefore, this interactive video is not just innovation for the sake of innovation; it is an innovative opportunity for us to be able to walk the talk.”

The purpose of the Aditya Birla Capital brand is to motivate people to embrace the life they truly desire to live and enable them to meet all their life’s money goals with ease and simplicity.

The Brand does not believe in lecturing people to do what it believes to be right for them. Instead, through its communication, the brand poses relevant questions regarding life and money with intent to provoke people to think about the role money can play in their life and self-realize their needs. The Brand believes when people self-realize their needs they are more committed to taking action towards fulfilling these needs. This interactive video embraces the same brand philosophy of self-realization.

The Interactive film has been conceptualized and implemented by Social Media agency Foxy Moron. The three storylines have been directed by Achyutanand and Sudhanshu of Four Line Films. The social media roll-out is being handled by Mindshare.

Commenting about the film, Achyutanand Dwivedi, Director, Four Line Films shared, “Cinematically, this was a really interesting challenge. Usually we work with scripts which have a single linear story. In this case, we had to work on three parallel stories which the viewer finds captivating and intriguing to interact with, while conveying the message across. It’s the first interactive brand film project we have worked on, and it is really exciting to see brands push the envelope. This kind of work is the ask of the hour.”

Pratik Gupta, Co-Founder – FoxyMoron added, “Everybody stresses about retirement, but not many address retirement as a problem they must address 'now'. Our intent with this campaign was to ensure that all the people who engage with it are able to visually switch between realities and see the possibilities that may ensue. The use of interactive video experience, married with creative tech allowed us to play up this experience on users' timelines seamlessly. Phosphene, our creative technology wing, created an experience (good or bad) by simply holding or releasing a button on the screen. Having built this creative tech from the ground up, we are now confident of the message and its delivery having the right impact on the audience that interacts with it! We're looking forward to the results that the campaign will throw up and taking this first-time-ever tech to multiple other clients.”
