    Disney+ Hotstar leverages the metaverse to promote new show ‘Rudra’

    Mumbai: Disney+ Hotstar has partnered with Hungama Digital’s Web 3.0 venture Hefty Entertainment to create digital avatars of the cast of  its new show “Rudra – The Edge of Darkness.” The platform has created many firsts with this disruptive marketing strategy and innovation leveraging the metaverse.

    The marketing team has installed a hologram of Ajay Devgn with an illusion of him looking at passersby in Mumbai’s Bandra Bandstand. Additionally, in partnership with Smaash the platform created a gaming and entertainment centre with the theme ‘todphod’ playing the iconic catchphrase used by the actor in the show. The gaming room was designed similar to the show’s set.

    “A big part of building a deeper relationship with our consumers is to bring elements from reel life to real life and vice-versa,” said Disney+ Hotstar EVP and chief marketing officer Siddharth Shakdher. “With ‘Rudra-The Edge of Darkness,’ we did exactly that and deployed a unique experiential and immersive show marketing approach, bringing our consumers one step closer to the show, but importantly, also surfacing the show within emerging pop culture trends. With first-of-its-kind initiatives like Rudra Metaverse, gaming room, and hologram displays, we stepped up a notch higher to connect deeper with the audiences and fans.”

    Directed by Rajesh Mapuskar, “Rudra – The Edge of Darkness” features actor Ajay Devgn in the role of a cop who delves into the psyche of highly intelligent criminal masterminds to capture them.

    Mumbai: Disney+ Hotstar has released the second trailer for “Rudra – The Edge of Darkness.” The six-episode series starring Ajay Devgn in the lead is slated to go live on 4 March in Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Bengali.

    The show is an India rendition of the British series “Luther.” Directed by Rajesh Mapuskar, the series is produced by Applause Entertainment in association with BBC Studios India. The show features a stellar cast including Raashi Khanna, Esha Deol, Atul Kulkarni, Ashwini Kalsekar, Tarun Gahlot, Ashish Vidyarthi, and Satyadeep Misra in pivotal roles.

    Mumbai: Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-anticipated film “Gangubai Kathiawadi” starring Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn will be screened at the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival in February. The screening will also mark the world premiere of the film that is set for theatrical release on 18 February 2022.

    “Gangubai Kathiawadi” has been chosen to be screened as part of Berlinale Special, a segment of the film festival which is dedicated to showcasing exemplary cinema. This year’s selections are films that have been shot during the pandemic. “We are happy to premiere Gangubai Kathiawadi and to be continuing the tradition of the Berlin Film Festival being a special setting for Indian movies, this time with a film that joins the usual craft in shaping camera movement and the choreography of bodies with a subject that is socially relevant, also beyond in India,” stated artistic director of Berlin International Film Festival Carlo Chatrian. “From the very beginning we were taken by the story of Gangubai, an exceptional woman dragged into exceptional circumstances.”

    As Sanjay Leela Bhansali celebrates 25 years in the world of cinema, this will be his tenth film. “The story of Gangubai Kathiawadi has been very close to my heart. My team and I have given it all to make this dream possible. We take pride and honour in showcasing it at the prestigious Berlin International Film Festival,” said Bhansali.

    Producer Jayantilal Gada of Pen Studios added, “I believe in Mr. Bhansali and his craft. It gives me great joy that our film will be presented at the Berlin International Film Festival and I am proud to associate with him for it. Alia has given a great performance and I am thankful to Ajay Devgn too for being a part of this project. It’s a story that will engage and appeal to global audiences.”

    Mumbai: Discovery India’s “Into the Wild” with Bear Grylls and Ajay Devgn which premiered on 25 October on the Discovery Channel has garnered a unique reach of 13.6 million across the network channels. It became the highest-rated show in the infotainment genre this year with 605K AMAs (average minutes audiences; 2+ India).

    The show has garnered a high TSV of 19 minutes. Discovery channel alone is rated higher than all infotainment channels put together and accounts for 55 per cent channel share in the infotainment genre.

    The journey started with a special edition of “Man Vs Wild” with Bear Grylls and PM Modi which was billed as the TV event of the year. Followed by “Into The Wild” with superstars Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar, generating record TV ratings and viewership for the cult new franchise. The latest episode of “Into The Wild” with Bear Grylls and Ajay Devgn has continued the legacy for being the most-watched show in the genre this year too.

    “Within its first-week premiere on discovery+, the show opened to rave reviews from the audience witnessing a strong momentum in subscription because of its gripping content and also with its truly out-of-the-box and disruptive marketing innovations,” said a spokesperson from the company.

    Discovery set to premiere ‘Into The Wild with Bear Grylls and Ajay Devgn’

    Mumbai: Discovery India is all set to premiere “Into The Wild with Bear Grylls and Ajay Devgn” on 25 October on Discovery channels and digitally on 22 October via streaming platform discovery+.

    The broadcast premiere of the show is scheduled at 8 p.m IST on 14 linear channels including Discovery Channel, Discovery HD, Discovery Tamil, Animal Planet, Animal Planet HD, TLC, TLC HD, Discovery ID, Discovery ID HD, Discovery Science, Discovery Turbo, Discovery Kids, Eurosport, and Eurosport HD. 

    The broadcaster has also released a trailer giving a sneak peek into the episode.

    “This is my first ever expedition into the wild and I can tell you it wasn’t child’s play!” said Devgn. “My father was an action director and in my career span of 30 years in the Indian industry, I have had the fortune to play several roles including some dangerous action ones too. And, this was one of those times when I had to put those learnings to the test again.”

    The special episode has attracted marquee advertisers including Vini Cosmetics and Citroen as ‘co-powered by’ sponsors. While Dell, Omron Healthcare, Spotify, and Amazon Alexa have come on board as ‘associate’ sponsors, LIC is the ‘partner’ sponsor for the title.

    “Into the Wild with Bear Grylls is one of our most acclaimed and loved series and with the new episode, the motive was clear – to make it bigger, better and widen our audience base. The show has been appreciated worldwide and we expect to land big with this special season,” said Discovery Inc managing director – South Asia Megha Tata.

    Produced by The Natural Studios and Banijay Asia, the show will be available in seven languages including English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bangla, Malayalam, and Kannada. The episode will exclusively premiere on discovery+ India and the Philippines followed by other EMEA regions, including the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Poland, Italy, Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden. It will also be showcased on Discovery’s network of channels in over 140 countries.

Directed by legendary filmmaker T. Rama Rao, the action-packed drama stars Mithun Chakraborty, Ajay Devgn and Rambhaa in the lead, along with Aditya Pancholi in a double role. The movie also stars veteran actors Sadashiv Amrapurkar, Tinnu Anand and Sujata Mehta in pivotal roles.     Jung revolves around two brothers ACP Arjun Saxena (Mithun Chakraborty) and defence lawyer Ajay Saxena (Ajay Devgn) who are at war with each other over a possibly innocent convict Ram (Aditya Pancholi). Ajay, a brilliant attorney has mastered the art of deceiving the opponent, due to existing loopholes in the law system. This does not go down well with Ajay’s elder brother Arjun and is the fundamental cause of the crack in their relationship.

    While Ajay believes his client Ram is innocent, the law-abiding Arjun believes otherwise and stands as a strong opposition to Ajay. The story heads towards an unexpected twist with the entry of Ram’s evil twin Billa. Meanwhile, Arjun's honesty has found him contending with a powerful new enemy, Chakradhari Choudhry (Sadashiv Amrapurkar), and the relationship of the two brothers only worsens as Ajay falls in love with Chakradhari's daughter Madhu (Rambhaa).
